Animated and full of mischief, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Lai Mohammed, ensured there was a bit of drama and laughter at the ongoing ministerial screening at the Senate.
Mohammed, one of President Buhari’s nominees, faced the Senate after Lt. General Abdulrahman Dambazau, had been cleared to bow and go.
As soon as Mohammed surfaced, shouts of ‘bow and go’ rent the air, to which he responded by bowing repeatedly.
However, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, told him to introduce himself.
After his introduction, Senate leader, Ali Ndume, moved that Mohammed should bow and go but Saraki insisted that the APC spokesperson say a few words.
Mohammed took center stage and said: “I might have ruffled a few feathers in the course of my duties, it wasn’t personal.”
“I believe four years is too small to stay in opposition, they might have to stay longer. It is service to be in opposition but its higher service to serve in Government.”
After saying a few more words, Mohammed bowed and left the upper chamber.
