The ‎Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, put on the sacred Aare crown on Saturday in Ile-Ife, Osun, for the first time amidst jubilations and local gun salute by the natives.

Oba Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, performed the symbolic trip from Ile Oodua, his palace to Oke Mogun shrine, to mark this year’s Olojo Festival, being the first time he would participate in the festival as Ooni.

Olojo Festival holds annually in Ile Ife, to mark creation of the universe and “Are crown” a special crown made of 151 items. It is wore only during the celebration of the festival and was adorned by Ooni.

Decked in all white apparel, Oba Ogunwusi, had been in seclusion for 5 days. He left his residence for Oke Mogun around 4: 30p.m for the final rites before he wore mystic “Are” crown
.
At exactly 5 p.m. Oba Ogunwusi, emerged with Are crown holding a white dove, amidst prayers and several gunshots which began with the journey to Oke Mogun and Idi Aje. Two major ports of call during Olojo Festival where rituals and prayers were said for the peace of Nigeria and Yoruba race.

Before Ooni commenced the trip, his messengers, who wore only shorts, wielding cane performed the symbolic sprint to Oke Mogun three times to clear the route the monarch would take.

The festival was peaceful, as all and sundry were in celebration mood, praying for the progress and development of the Yoruba race and the country at large

The police station in Ekiti

Ido Division of the Ekiti State police command came under attack by yet to be identified gunmen in the night of Friday and killed a police Inspector on duty and looted the armoury of the police station.

A police inspector on duty was reportedly killed on Friday as suspected gunmen numbering about 40 raided Ido-Ekiti Divisional Police Station in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti state.

According to Nigerian Trubune, the armoury of the police station was also reportedly emptied by the attackers who blew off the roof top of the station allegedly with dynamite. The entire police station, including the ceilings was destroyed during the raid.

A detective attached to the station, who craved anonymity, revealed that the suspected gunmen invaded the police station around 7.20pm yesterday and ransacked all rooms in the station.

The source added that some of the gunmen drove into the station while others scaled the fence and headed for the station’s armoury, as few policemen were on duty at the time of the raid.

The source said the heavily armed gunmen rained bullets on the police inspector who died on the spot.

The police source said: “They drove in recklessly through the gate. Some of them had scaled the fence and took over the entire police station. Some of them even scaled the fence and took strategic positions around the station, shot into the air sporadically and destroyed virtually every room and office. They had gone straight to the police station and the armoury.

“They looted the armoury, took everything there and left it empty. Our suspicion was that they came only to loot the armoury because that was why they first attacked and demobilised our men. In fact, they emptied the entire place.”

Asked if some suspects of dangerous crime were being detained at the station, which could be the reason for the attack, the source said “if that was the motive, then they should have attacked the cells; they didn’t attack the cells.”

The source said the policemen on guard during the raid were overpowered because the attackers were fierce, according to him, “they rained bullets on the police inspector and he was said to have died on the spot.”

A correspondent contacted the Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Alberto Adeyemi for police reaction on the incident but he was unreachable via his mobile phones.

Buhari visits Nigerian military officer in Berlin hospital

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday paid an unscheduled visit to a Nigerian military officer receiving treatment in a Berlin hospital.

The visit marked the conclusion of the president’s 3 day official stay in Germany.

A statement by the presidential spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu stated that the officer, Brigadier-General Mohammed Sani Aliyu, the Acting Commander of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Jos miraculously survived a ghastly road accident in the course of a duty tour in the North-East.

The head of Training and Operations of the Nigerian Army, Major-General Yusha’u Abubakar, who was in the same vehicle was not so lucky as he died in the auto crash on Maiduguri-Damaturu road.
President Buhari, accompanied by the Governors of Borno and Imo, the National Security Adviser, NSA, the Minister of Interior and that of Foreign Affairs congratulated General Aliyu for the progress he has made in his treatment in the last six months in hospital.

The President and his delegation wished him a quick recovery and an early return to his family and duties in Nigeria. He gave further assurance that his administration would continue to accord priority to the health and wellbeing of service personnel.

Meanwhile, doctors at the hospital said that General Aliyu could barely move his head when he was brought into the hospital in a stretcher with his body torn and broken in many parts. They said the officer could move around with very little assistance.

Aliyu expressed gratitude to the President for his visit, saying his spirit had been buoyed up to serve Nigeria more.

Nigeria is not obligated to obey Court ruling on Dasuki – Buhari’s aide

Nigeria is not obligated to obey Court ruling on Dasuki – Buhari’s aide

The Nigerian government is not obligated to obey a ruling of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, Court that a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, be released from the custody of the State Security Service, a presidential aide has said.

The ECOWAS Court, on October 4, had declared the continued detention of Mr. Dasuki unlawful, arbitrary and a violation of his right to liberty.

The former NSA is accused of misspending billions of dollars meant for procurement of arms for fight against Boko Haram. The government also accuses him of illegal possession of firearms.
Mr. Dasuki was arrested in December 2015, and has been in detention since then.

“It is advisory opinion,” President Muhammadu Buhari’s adviser on prosecution, Okoi Obla, said of the ECOWAS’ court ruling, in a recent interview.

“The ECOWAS Court cannot enforce opinion. The government is not obligated to obey the ruling of the ECOWAS Court.”

The ECOWAS Court was created pursuant to the Article 6 and Article 15 of the Revised Treaty of ECOWAS, the political-economic bloc of the West African countries.

Nigeria is a signatory to the Treaty which is “binding on the member states, the institutions of the community, individuals and corporate bodies,” as its Article 15(4) provides.

But Section 12(1) of the Nigerian Constitution says “No treaty between the Federation (Nigeria) and any other country shall have the force of law except to the extent to which any such treaty has been enacted by the National Assembly”.

The National Assembly has not domesticated the Revised Treaty and the Supplementary Protocol regarding the ECOWAS Court.

Regardless, analysts expect Nigeria to obey the ruling as an exemplary demonstration of its leadership position in the West African sub-region.

Mr. Obla cited countries he said had disregarded international law.

“Look at Israel; Israel has disregarded all international rulings. The so-called bastion of democracy, America, has flouted all judgements of the ICJ against America. They even refused to be signatory to the ICC treaty,” he said.

He said the “national interest” and “security” of the country “are the most important considerations”.
Asked if releasing Mr. Dasuki could threaten Nigeria’s security, he said, “Well he was a National Security Adviser. That’s a very powerful office; and he’s a Prince”.

Mr. Obla said “cumulatively”, Mr. Dasuki misappropriated $15 billion meant for procurement of arms to prosecute the war against Boko Haram terrorism in the North East.

He denied that Mr. Buhari was being vindictive and acting in contempt of court in the case of Mr. Dasuki.

“The president has not disobeyed any law regarding Dasuki. The first charge against Dasuki was unlawful possession of firearms. They brought application for his bail which was granted. As he was perfecting his bail conditions and before he was released, he was arrested for another offence. That’s it.

“If you are arrested for manslaughter, you asked for bail and the bail is granted. But as you are about to be released, the police come to say you are accused of killing another person two years ago, that has cancelled the first bail.

“There is no evidence that the federal government is in contempt of court,” he said.

He, however, said the government was “still studying the judgement”, echoing an earlier position of the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

Aishat’s Stage-Managed “Outburst” Says lawyer

Aishat’s Stage-Managed “Outburst” Says lawyer

Aisha Buhari

Since yesterday, the social and main stream media have been awash with the ‘arrangee’ interview, on the BBC, by the First Lady, Hajia Aishat Buhari, in respect of her alleged opposition to the political ambition of Gen Muhammadu Buhari, beyond 2019.

This is nothing but a stage managed public relations stunt, by the president, to buy public sympathy and support, for the failing APC ruling government.

In recent times, the president has come under attack from the masses of Nigerians, over his failing economic policies, that have thrown Nigeria into recession and even depression. For instance, the president has not been able to address any other presidential media chat after his disastrous inaugural chat.

The government has lost credibility, and is only feeding fat on lies and propaganda.
It is no surprise therefore, that the First Lady has been exhumed to give the impression that the president means well but is only surrounded by bad advisers.

We all can recall how the president held the nation to ransom, for well over six months, claiming that he was searching for technocrats and saints, to work with him. So how can the First Lady expect us to believe this latest propaganda that the president is surrounded by visionless people and that should account for his dismal performance since 2015?

I therefore urge the good people of Nigeria not to be distracted in their resolve to hold the president accountable to his campaign promises and not to be deceived by this latest campaign to buy sympathy and public support for the president.

I Drafted the Master Plan for the Negotiation for Chibok Girls' Release - Senator Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani

Kaduna central Senator, Shehu Sani has opened up on his role in the recovery of the first batch of Chibok girls which was already in play during the administration of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Vocal civil liberty activist, Senator Shehu Sani, drafted the master plan for the negotiation and facilitated the involvement of Switzerland in the talks as well as Red Cross International in transporting the girls to safety, he revealed on a chat with The Nation.

His words: “I believe that this government has achieved what has never been achieved and there I have the confidence that the other girls will also be released through the same process that was taken for these ones to be released.

"The confidence has been built on both sides and the parties have agreed to do more. I can tell you that there was no prisoner swap. There was none. I was the one who drafted the master plan for the negotiation.

"I was also the one who invited the Swiss and the RCRC into it, and I was also the one who linked the Swiss with the person who negotiated, who happened to be Mustapha Zanna, a lawyer in Maiduguri.

"I was the one who brought Mustapha Zanna in with Switzerland and the Red Cross. So this effort, this success, could be said to be the joint effort of Mustapha Zanna, Switzerland , Red Cross and the Department of State Security (DSS).

"The reason for bringing Swiss into it was because we needed to have a different country that would offer guarantee to both the insurgents and the government because previous talks crashed because there was lack of trust.

"But now, we needed a country that would offer guarantee to both sides. Switzerland offered to assist after I had encountered fellows from some of the countries which we had contacted. Swiss offered to facilitate the negotiation and I linked them up to the negotiator and the master plan was for the government and the insurgents to negotiate."

Islamic scholars in Kano call for Aisha Buhari’s arrest

We had expected that Islamic scholars would react to the unislamic remarks of Aisha Buhari against her husband.

The Islamic scholars who converged in Kano State decried her oublic barrage of her husband as an insult to Islamic teachings.

The Islamic scholars also called on security operatives to immediately arrest her once she steps foot into the country.

Following Aisha’s comments, President Buhari had dismissed his wife’s claims saying: “I claim superior knowledge over her and the rest of the opposition.

“In the end, I have succeeded.

“It’s not easy to satisfy the whole Nigerian opposition parties or to participate in the government.”

Buhari’s comments drew mixed reaction from his host, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who briefly stared at him.

Meanwhile, excerpt of the interview has sparked fierce condemnation in Kano State.

At Jamaatul Izalatul Bid’ah Mosque in Kano, Shiek Ismail Illyasu Mangu spoke to thousands of worshipers after the Jumaat prayer.

According to the Shiek “Aisha must be arrested because her interview is capable of inciting millions of Nigerians against her husband.

“It is a threat to the peace of the country and we do hope the security agencies will immediately arrest her.

Most Abuja women are commercial sex workers - Charly Boy

Most Abuja women are commercial sex workers - Charly Boy

Charly Boy

In yet another shocking revelation, popular Nigerian entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly called Charly Boy, has disclosed the extent of commercial sex business been practiced in Abuja.

The controversial showbiz mogul disclosed in a write-up on his site how a whooping 89% of Abuja women are all commercial sex workers. Read the article he titled ‘Pussyfication’ below:

”Remember back in the days, when we used to hear about “bottom power”; how some women screwed their way up to reckoning as either a girlfriend or someone’s kept mistress. These days stories like that may have diminished a bit due to the harsh reality of our economy.

Jungle don mature, men no dey so drop for women again like before. Many men are all in hiding, running away from women, especially those carrying shopping list, invoice booklet or those who come as extra baggage with multiple choice problems. OMG Kai!!!!!

”Men are wiser these days I hope, I see some of them running away and toning down their womanizing tinz because e get as e be o. Especially married men. Even the bachelors are looking for sugar mummies who can take care of them and their bills. Men are on the run these days because financially, ground no level again at all. Short time hotels are even witnessing a melt-down because it no longer makes financial sense.

PAY ATTENTION: Get all the latest gossips & gists from ujuayaogusblog.com

”When some of us remember things like school fees, house rent, cost of living, permanent state of broke-ass-ness, all our numerous obligations (not that we stole money or defrauded anybody) You need to ask yourself where the extra is going to come from to pay for your pussyficating all over town, when you can do better things with your hard earned money.

”So my guy, park well before I ticket you. Some women are so fly with pushing your mumu button, that before you know it, you’re engaging in pay as you go. Since they are giving you sex, their ultimate weapon of mumurizing you, they figure you must carry some of their baggage too. Hummmmm!!! for where!!!!!!!

”While some men don’t even seem to mind the pay as you go thing because for them, it is a fair exchange of sort: but most of these kinda women also have more than one man, they also juggle around their hustle so as to maximize their sagging value. A lot of women in Abuja today are nothing but runs women, they come in different classes and grades.

”If you’re a married man with huge responsibilities, then it’s up to you to prioritise your parol. In this day and age, with all the uncertainties hanging over mortal Nigerians like us, ‘be careful’ had better be our middle name.

For many of us, there is Fire on the mountain, pepper no dey rest for our hands like before. Most of us don enter injury time, some of us dey wilderness dey try sort out how to maneuver ourselves comot.

”Don’t let all the sweetness or niceness suck you in, as a lot of these women know how to play the sweet and the nice just to get you. Pure water, I have always said, is cheaper than s*x, so why the bloody heck are you paying so much for it? Are you a learner? Come ooooon, gangster up your game.

”You must always remember that your real love one’s need all the attention and finance because money is hard to come by for now, hol your side well before something do you. I don talk my own.”

Who agrees with area father?

MediaTakeOut and Kim Kardashian end their fight outside the courtroom

MediaTakeOut and Kim Kardashian end their fight outside the courtroom

After MediaTakeOut accused Kim Kardashian of faking the Paris robbery in several articles, Kim Kardashian and her legal team filed a libel lawsuit against them.

MediaTakeOut has come out to tender an apology to Kim Kardashian for claiming her robbery story was fake. The site's founder, Fred Mwangaguhunga, acknowledged that their reporting went too far.

See the apology after the cut...

"Our number one goal is to produce the most accurate information as quickly as possible and we did that," Mwangaguhunga said.

"But now, looking back at it, you have a chance often times to look back and reflect on what it is that happened. It's now clear that she was robbed. It's clear that the reporting that we did hurt her, and we certainly don't want that to be what we do."

"After speaking to sources, including some connected to the Kardashians, and getting further details on the sequence of events – we are now confident and without a doubt believe that Kim Kardashian was robbed as was reported to the Paris police. Anyone who is still questioning it, is wrong.'

"We can understand how reports questioning if the robbery in fact took place can be hurtful, and so we apologize,''No one deserves to go through such a traumatic experience.

Kim is not just celebrity, she is a person, a wife and a mother – who in no way deserved what happened to her,

''We wish her the best as she emotionally recovers from the traumatic incident.'

Those articles have since been taken off the site.

"It's a bigger issue than just someone telling you to take it down," Fred Mwangaguhunga said. "Sometimes you take it down because there's something on there that's not right and your readers are being misled by the information on it."

In regards to the lawsuit, Mwangaguhunga said he believes the lawsuit will be "resolved very soon."

He also said that Kim Kardashian did not "deserve" to be at the center of this speculation.

FG may shut Shoprite

FG may shut Shoprite

The Federal Government, through its National Biosafety Management Agency, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to retail store giants, Shoprite and Next Cash ‘N’ Carry to withdraw any product that contains Genetically Modified Organisms from their shelves or risk a total shutdown.

The warning was handed out to representatives of the two superstores at a briefing in Abuja on Friday.

The Director-General, NBMA, Dr. Rufus Ebegba, said the agency had received complaints from members of the public about the sale of GMO foods in the two stores.

He stated, “Recently, we carried out a survey of likely GMO products and we have been able to have some collections, some materials that we call GMO suspects. We call them GMO suspects because we have not been able to ascertain their status.

“Why we have invited the superstores basically is for them to understand that some of their products need to be properly ascertained before they are brought in, especially the imported ones that may contain genetically modified materials, so that they will not run afoul of the law.

“There is a law in place. We will not want any segment of the society out of ignorance to act in manners that will infringe on the law. The Biosafety Management Act empowers the NBMA to regulate the activities of modern biotechnology and the use of genetically modified organisms.”

According to him, the agency will not hesitate to shut down any of the stores found selling unregistered GMO products in the country.

Edegba called on representatives of the superstores to ensure that all GMO products on their shelves were duly registered by the agency by obtaining permits.

He said, “If they have any GMO food in their stores, they should withdraw them from their shelves within seven days. The NBMA will not hesitate to shut down those stores found selling GMO products. We will not want to see any GMO food in your stores. We urge you to comply with this Act.

“We have taken samples, which we are analysing. This information is not peculiar to only the superstores. We are not threatening anybody, we are just telling you the consequences of dealing in GMO products if found in these stores. Within the next seven days, we believe you will withdraw from your shelves all foods that are derived from genetically modified organisms.”

The NBMA boss added, “Please, it is an advice and this advice is not without a legal backing. So we urge you to withdraw all GMO foods from your shelves and formalise your dealings by obtaining permits.

NNPC begins oil exploration in Bauchi

NNPC begins oil exploration in Bauchi

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and a Chinese company, Bureau for Geophysical Corporation, have begun mobilising to Alkakeri, Darazo, Misau in Bauchi State to commence the drilling of oil wells in the coming months.

The exploration is expected to bring employment and other economic opportunities to the state.

The Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, disclosed this when he led top management staff on a courtesy visit to the Bauchi State Governor.

He said, “NNPC’s renewed commitment for further exploration in the Gongola Basin is informed by directives to NNPC by President Muhammdu Buhari to resume oil exploration activities in Gongola and Chad Basins following successful commercial discoveries of oil and gas in neighbouring Niger, Chad and Central African Republic in their portion of the Chad Basin.”

The NNPC boss recalled that exploration activities in the Chad Basin began in 1974, continued in 1996 to 2000 when gas was discovered in non-commercial quantity, but later resumed in 2014, but stopped due to insecurity in the North-East.

“Based on a recent survey by a subsidiary of NNPC, the Integrated Data Service Limited, and with the acquisition of state of the art technology in present data acquisition, we are confident that these efforts will lead to clearer definition if prospectivity in the region,” he stated.

Responding, the Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, promised that the state government would provide security for the NNPC and other companies’ staffers that would be in the state for oil exploration.

He said that the state government would also provide office and residential accommodation during the exploration exercise, and enlighten Bauchi citizens on the explorers’ equipment and vehicular movement, so as not to create panic.
