Manchester Bombing: Salman Abedi's Former Lanlord Contacts Police, Says He Left STRONG SMELL Behind In Apartment

Salman Abedi sub-let a home in Somerton Court, in the Blackley area of the city, which was raided by armed police during the week. His former landlord contacted police after recognising the killer's name.

Mohamed al-Hudarey (inset), a friend of landlord Aiman al-Wafi, said there was a strong smell of chemicals left behind when Abedi suddenly moved out last month, and initially thought the killer had
been practicing 'black magic'.

The 22-year-old suicide bomber is suspected of stockpiling peroxide at the barber shop owned by cousin Abdallah Forjani (pictured with him, centre). Abedi had rented the flat in Blackley for around seven weeks before moving out in a hurry and going to Libya. He is believed to have carried out the finishing touches to the deadly device which he activated at the Manchester Arena on Monday at another apartment in the city centre.

Malnutrition Kills 33 Children In Nasarawa – Chief Dietitian

No fewer than 33 children have died of acute malnutrition in Nasarawa State, the state’s Chief Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mrs. Yagana Shani, has disclosed.

In a telephone interview with Saturday Punch, Shani said the deaths were recorded between 2012 and 2015.

According to her, seven deaths were recorded in 2012; 10 in 2013; seven in 2014; and nine in 2015.
Shani added that scores of children had been admitted to hospitals this year as a result of severe
malnutrition.

Commenting on the situation, the state’s Nutrition Officer, Mrs. Amina Ahmed, attributed poor diet among children in the state to low budgetary allocation, low capacity building efforts, weak organisational structure for monitoring/evaluation and low political willpower.

She described the current situation in the state as unacceptable, saying arrangements should be made to ensure that the prevalent rate of malnutrition was reduced to a barest minimum.

'El-Rufai is a BIG LIAR' - Goodluck Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has described Governor Nasir el-Rufai as a big liar, urging Nigerians not to take him seriously.

Jonathan said this in a statement by his media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, on Friday, while reacting to el-Rufai’s claims on the disbursement of Ecological Fund under the Jonathan’s administration.

El-Rufai had on Thursday at the National Executive Council meeting, said, “What President Goodluck Jonathan did was to take N2bn each from the Ecological Fund and give to some PDP states. Any PDP state that was not his friend, like Kano and Kwara, didn’t get.”

However, the former President said it was only the states that met the criteria for accessing the fund that received it.

Jonathan said even some states governed by his staunch supporters like Akwa Ibom and Ekiti did not receive the fund as well.

The statement read in part, “It is so easy to expose Mallam Nasir el-Rufai as a liar as Akwa-Ibom, a PDP state governed by the then Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and a close confidante of the then President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, did not get the monies alluded to by Mallam el-Rufai from the Ecological Fund as did multiple other PDP states including Ekiti state, a state governed by a thoroughbred patriot and Jonathan supporter, Ayo Fayose.”

Jonathan said states ruled by the Labour Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance also received the fund.

He added, “Also, it is false that non-PDP states did not get monies from the fund. Nemesis catches up faster with liars than any other agent of evil.  El-Rufai was probably led by the gods against his own sinister plot to confess in another breathe that states under non-PDP parties like APGA and Labour party also benefitted.

“The fact remains that the Ecological Fund is a specialised fund with certain constitutional requirements which must be met before a state can access the funds. Every state benefitted from the fund under President Jonathan, who bent over backwards to accommodate states that had difficulty meeting the criteria for accessing the fund.”

He said el-Rufai’s ‘sinister’ narrative was intentionally silent on the over N10bn specially deployed to fund the Great Green Wall project in some northern states, in view of the need to work with the rest of Africa on the African initiative to check desert encroachment in the Sahel.

The states included Zamfara, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto, Katsina, Adamawa, Yobe, Borno and Kano which belong to el-Rufai’s class of ‘non-friendly’ states that he claimed never benefitted from any discretionary fund.

The former President said the similar principle applied to the conditions for accessing the Universal Basic Education Fund, where some states have not had access to what is due them because they have yet to fulfil the mandatory criteria for allocation.

“Would it then be right in the name of el-Rufai’s position on equity to blame the failure of those states to access their UBEC funds on Jonathan?”, the ex-President asked.

The statement added, “It is really sad that judicious presidential interventions to tackle emergencies and other pressing national needs are being interrogated in a rather facile manner, by those who never get tired of playing dirty politics.”

Jonathan said the Kaduna governor was in the habit of telling lies against him. Citing several alleged instances.

“Nigerians may recall that this is not the first time that el-Rufai has vented his known passion for lying against the former President. The public will recall that in October 2015, he falsely alleged that former President Jonathan spent a whopping N64bn on Independence Day celebrations, during his tenure when in fact only N333m was spent,” the statement added.

British Airways Computer Systems Crash Across The WORLD After They Are 'Hacked'

British Airways computer systems have crashed across the world, sparking chaos at airports with massive queues and delayed flights.

All BA flights from Heathrow and Gatwick before 6pm have been cancelled because of a 'major IT system failure' that is causing 'severe disruption worldwide'.

Hundreds of fliers are stuck in 'huge' check-in lines and parts of BA's website and app are not working - causing people trying to check-in online to miss their flights. Several passengers reported
that the captain and gate staff at Gatwick Airport said the airline could be under a cyber attack.

Furious fliers in the UK, the US, Rome, Belfast and Lisbon among other locations vented that they have been stuck on their plane for more than two hours.

They spoke of 'disgraceful' customer service as staff gave out 'no information', while others said it was 'carnage' at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5 and warned travellers to stay away.

The airline said it was 'experiencing a global system outage' and added it was 'working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible'.

Heathrow Airport said it was 'working closely' with BA to solve the issue.

In a statement, they said: 'We apologise for the current IT systems outage. We are working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.'

They advised passengers to check the status of their flight before travelling to the airport.

Delays have also been reported in Rome, Prague, Cagliari, Stockholm and Malaga due to the technical failure and Gatwick Airport.

One passenger said that there were 'huge queues' at check in and 'no explanation'.
'Systems down. Huge queues at check in. No explanation. Not good #britishairways #heathrowterminal,' they wrote.

Woman Seeking Miracle At TB Joshua’s Church Nabbed Over Kidnap Of Policeman’s Son

Four-year-old Godwin Shekidat was abducted on February 13, 2017 by a couple at Masaka area of Nasarawa State, while he was on his way back from school. But when the boy’s father, Monday, a police inspector, received a message from someone claiming to know where his son was, his joy knew no bounds.

But it turned out that the message was sent by a Cameroonian, 30-year-old Tanla Mirabel, who had lodged in Ikotun area of Lagos and seeking healing for her Asthma at TB Joshua’s Synagogue Church of All Nations. Mirabel, it was learnt, was working in collusion was her Nigerian boyfriend,
Rafael Adedayo.

The police said both Mirabel and Adedayo saw an opportunity to extort money from Monday and grabbed it. The duo were said to have got hold of Monday’s phone number through an alert circulated on the social media, which included the phone number of the victim’s father.

Saturday Punch learnt that as soon as Monday knew that his son was indeed abducted, he had informed police authorities who tasked the Inspector-General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team with tracking down the suspects.

According to a source in the team, the duo contacted Monday claiming to know those behind the kidnapping of his son. They also demanded he pay them a certain amount of money for that information.

The text messages through which the duo contacted Monday were sent through Mirabel’s number.

One of the text messages, read, “Good evening, I know where your son is, don’t call but just send SMS.  I am risking my life to tell you this but I am doing it on one condition. Will you accept it? I am not joking, I know where he is and my parents are keeping him for rituals.

“Send me airtime so I can send you more text messages because my airtime has almost finished.  I need N40,000 from you and I will tell you where your son is, I am not joking, I promise to tell you where he is.

“The moment you send me the money; I will personally call you to come to my parents’ house with the police.  I will send you my account details, but let me know when you are ready, but delay is very dangerous.

“I have seen the airtime, when are you sending the money.  Tomorrow you will see your son but don’t just involve the police, if you do, you will not see your son again.”

Monday was said to have reported the development to the IRT, which tracked down Mirabel.

The IRT also trailed the owner of an account number in which they instructed Monday to deposit the money. The account belonged to one Mary, a resident of Ikotun area of Lagos.

Mirabel, who is two months pregnant for Adedayo, explained that she met her boyfriend when she travelled to Synagogue Church of All Nations for healing but became stranded.

Narrating how she met Adedayo, an indigene of Bamenda in Cameroun, Mirabel said, “ I came  to Nigeria three months ago and I stayed in my brother’s house in Kano State.  I had only N10,000 on me when I left Kano and came to Lagos. I went to TB Joshua’s church that day because I am an asthmatic patient and I wanted him to pray for me for healing. But when I arrived the church, the ushers did not allow me to see him.

“I became stranded and stood at the bus stop when I had nowhere to go that night. Adedayo approached me there and asked where I was going. I told him I had nowhere to go. He told me he had a lodge where he paid N500 per night and offered to accommodate me.

“I lived with him and he fed me for two weeks. There was a day he left the room with my phone and when he came back, he said he saw a post on my phone about a missing boy and the parents of the missing child published their phone numbers, offering a reward for anyone with information that could lead them to the child.”

Mirabel said Adedayo then directed him to send an sms to the phone number informing the parents that she knew where the missing boy was.

He allegedly told her to request N40,000 for his return.

Mirabel told the police that when she refused, Adedayo threatened to destroy her travelling documents, which he had in his custody.

“I had no choice but to send the SMS  to the phone number he provided. I did not even know about any missing child until Adedayo told me about the post,” she said.

According to her, she did not know the person she was sending a message to was a policeman, adding that her boyfriend thought the boy’s parents were wealthy.

“Adedayo said he had spent a lot of money on me and hoped to recoup it from the money he gets from the missing boy’s father. He said my role was to make sure that the man pays the money,” Mirabel said.

But Adedayo, a Kogi State indigene, denied involvement in the scam.

He said in his statement to the police that he gave an account number to Mirabel without knowing what she wanted to do with it.

He said, “I met Mirabel in February. I approached her and asked if she needed a lodge. She told me that she was stranded and she had no money and begged for assistance.

“I accommodated her for two days.  Later, she called and said she needed an account number.

“I then approached one Mary who lives around my lodge and she gave me her account number, which I gave to Mirabel.

“I went to work but by the time I came back, Mirabel was gone.  I don’t know where she went to. But four months later, I was arrested and was taken to Abuja.

“Mirabel told the police that I was part of the plan to extort the boy’s father but I had no hand in it.  Between God and man, I wasn’t the one who asked Mirabel to send those messages.”

Adedayo said she did not have any sexual relation with Mirabel until March 2017, when some women in their lodge started calling her his girlfriend.

“I didn’t know that she got herself into this mess, I hadn’t seen her in a long time until I was arrested. She is making this whole thing up,” he said.

The police said investigation was still ongoing on the case and that the suspects would be charged to court when investigators finish their work.

Scottish People Are Fuming Over This Photo Of Barack Obama On His First Visit To The Country

Barack Obama has been enjoying some much-deserved 'chill' time since he was released from his duties as President of the USA and has mostly been pictured sunbathing and doing watersports with wife Michelle on paradise islands.

Obama is still having a good time and this week flew to Scotland  his first ever visit to the country to give a speech in front of politicians and business leaders at a charity dinner in the capital.

He made the most of his time there by going for a round of golf on the world-famous course in St Andrews. But Scottish people are feeling a mixture of shame and rage over a photograph of him
being handed a bottle of Irn Bru.

You might wonder why are they so angry. Isn't Irn Bru an iconic Scottish drink, showing off the best of the wonderful country?

Well, they gave him the sugar-free version. And Scots are not happy.
