EFCC Begin Hunt For Owner Of N448M Found In Lagos Shopping Plaza

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is trailing the owner of N448.85m discovered in a shopping plaza in Lagos State, spokesman of the commission in Lagos, Mr. Sam Amadin said.Amadin said the agency was making efforts to reach the owner of the complex, with a view to knowing who rented the said shop 64.

“The shopping plaza, from preliminary investigation, was built by estate developers. From the developers, we will get the owner of the money.

”The people around the complex know the owner of the money. The place has not been in use for a long time, the owner only sneaks into the place and keep the money. We will find the owner very soon, “ Amadin assured.

The commission, on Friday in a statement confirmed the recovery of N448.85m in a shop at the LEGICO Shopping Plaza, in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Operatives of the commission, acting on a tip-off by a concerned whistleblower, swooped on the shopping complex and sought the identity of the owners of two shops, LS 64 and LS 67, which were under lock and key.

“The shops had the signage of a Bureau de Change. Inquiries about the owner of shop 64 indicated that he had not been seen for a long time, as neighbours claimed the shop had not been opened for business for close to two years.

“The attention of the plaza’s Chairman and some traders were drawn in order to force the shops open.

“There was no money found in shop 67, but in shop 64, heaps of Ghana-Must-Go bags were found on the floor of the shop.

“When the bags were unzipped they were found to contain bundles of Naira notes totalling N448. 85m.”

Saturday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye ( Open Heavens 8 April 2017) – Oblivious To Your True State?

Topic: Oblivious To Your True State? [Saturday 8, April 2017]

Memorise: But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth. - 1 Timothy 5:6

Read: Revelation 3:14-19 (KJV)

14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Bible in One Year: Leviticus 15-16, Jeremiah 9:12-26

MESSAGE:

It is amazing that many people are suffering today but they do not realise it. Is it even possible to suffer without knowing it? Of course, it is! The Bible passage in our memory verse points to one of such scenarios. A prostitute and his or her clients think they are enjoying life by indulging in indiscriminate sex and getting paid for it, but in the sight of God, they are dead. The reality of the word of God will knock on their door the day the doctor announces their HIV status. A drunkard also is one who is “suffering and smiling”. The Bible gives a vivid description of the pitiable state of a drunkard in Proverbs 23:31-35. It is also possible for people who profess to belong to God to be oblivious of their true state in the sight of God. For this reason, we must always look at ourselves through the mirror of God’s word, and wait on the Lord in the place of prayer to hear what His opinion of us is.

In today’s Bible text, we see the verdict of our Lord Jesus Christ on the state of the Church of the Laodiceans. After the Lord x-rayed their spiritual life, their self-delusion became apparent for all to see. He gave His assessment in Revelation 3:17:

“Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:”

This is food for thought for these churches in these last days which major on the so-called “prosperity gospel” to the detriment of the spiritual well-being of their congregation. Such churches are actually miserable, poor, blind and naked – they are suffering without knowing it. In Acts 3, Peter and John were going for a prayer meeting at the temple, and a lame man looked up to them in expectation of receiving alms from them. Pay close attention to these words of Peter to him in Acts 3:6:

“…Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”

The lame man walked because the early disciples were rich in the things of God, even though they were poor in material things. Today, many churches have silver and gold, but they no longer have the effective use of the Name of Jesus Christ. Beloved, let us go back to our first love, rather than groping in the darkness of self-delusion that we are fine. Many problems that were alien to the early Church are now common place in the modern Church. Ministers of gospel are being carried here and there for healing. May God have mercy on us.

Prayer Point: Father, open my eyes to see where I have missed it, and help me to retrace my steps back to You, the Lover of my soul.

#BBNaija: Let's give you a break down of what the 5 finalists said during their campaigned for votes yesterday!

With only 1 left before the end of the show, Biggie completely banned any sort of campaigning for the rest of the week.

It's a decision that seemed quite harsh at first but when he asked them in yesterday's Diary Sessions, if they felt it jeopardised their chances, they all agreed that it didn't phase them anymore. Bisola said they would have been incredibly annoying to watch because all they'd be doing is campaigning, so it was probably a good call. Marvis actually felt the ban would allow viewers to vote on merit and Debie-Rise argued that it had helped level the playing field.

Enter another twist. Biggie told everyone to put on their finest clothes and get ready to go to the Arena for their last presentation.

They had only 40 minutes to put on their make up, suits and evening gowns before heading out and they all looked visibly nervous as they racked their brains for the perfect speech. In the end, Biggie's call was a good one because not having time to memorise anything forced them to speak from the heart.

First up was TBoss.
"I came into this House a princess and now I stand before you, a queen! I say this with humility. I am not a proud person.
She expressed her gratitude for everyone who'd "invested in her" and asked them to keep being kind and voting. She revealed that she didn't know why they'd saved her so many times but suggested that it was probably because they all saw every facet of her and realised that she was nothing like the first impression she often gets thanks to her "tattoos and piercings."

Efe went up next starting with the question,

"Who is Efe?" before launching into an impassioned speech where he suggested that everyone who'd overcome strife was no different from him. "Efe nah you! Efe nah that mother who deprives herself of every luxury" so her kids go to school. "Efe nah me coz I be Nigerian and against all odds I stand with my two feet!”

His eyes filled with tears for a moment as he recounted how he'd gotten farther than anyone else in his family, "The name Ejeba stands out now!" he exclaimed before pleading with people to vote.

=
"Bisola means 'Born into wealth' but that hasn't been the case" Bisola said as she opened. She revealed that she often felt insecure and envious when people mentioned their college experiences because she never had the money to go to one. She also explained how she made the decision to rely on the talents that she knew "could feed her" to survive depression. She acknowledged that she'd fought with many people in the House but reminded everyone that she wasn't perfect nor was she more intelligent, gifted or beautiful than anyone else. "Yet, you've kept me here! Please keep up the good will." she exclaimed as she closed off.

Marvis kept things simple reminding everyone that she'd been a fighter from the get go and had accomplished things even she thought she would never do. She begged everyone to vote for her because she was a born winner.

"I'm pleading because W-I-N dey for my body!" She thanked Big Brother for giving her this platform and reminded people that she'd kept it real all the way through. "I came here Marvis. I leave here Marvis" she said before concluding that if it weren't for Big Brother people would have never known that name.

Debie-Rise closed things off by making the surprising revelation that she didn't have her family's blessing to come to the show. However, she said she stuck around because she wanted to be an example everyone that you should chase your dreams at any cost.

"Growing up I just wanted to be more. This passion that I have? I want go home and say that it was worth it in the end!"

She also said she was disciplined, well mannered and empathetic which said were qualities a winner should possess.

It is time for me to move on - Senator Ita-Giwa to dump PDP for APC today

An erstwhile presidential adviser, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, has declared that she will today, 7th April join the Cross River State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Mama Bakasi, as she is fondly called made this disclosure on Thursday in Calabar.
She said the reason for pitching her tent with the APC was because her contemporaries are in the party.

She told newsmen that,

“I have been idle in the PDP for over one year now. It is time for me to move on politically with my huge Bakassi supporters.
Besides, nearly all my contemporaries are in the APC. So, it is time for me to join them and work for the progress of the party at the state and national levels.” Ita-Giwa represented the Cross River South Senatorial District on the platform of the All Peoples Party from May 1999 to May 2003.

After her exit from the senate in 2003, she joined the PDP, and became former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters.

Reacting to the development, the Acting state Chairman of APC, Mr. John Ochala, described her defection as a welcome development.

“It is a welcome development. Her crossing over to the APC is good. She should take her time to study and understand the party’s constitution.”
