A fire outbreak which occurred in the early hours of the morning has wrecked irreparable damage on one family in Bauchi state.
Five members of one family have been confirmed dead while property worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of a fire incident at Makara Huta quarters in Azare town of Bauchi state.
The fire which started at about 3am on Tuesday could not be quenched for several hours by men of the state fire service..
Malam Umaru Shehu, a neighbour of one of the victims who lost his life in the incident, said the deceased has struggled to save himself from the inferno but all to no avail as he was finally over powered by smoke.
The victim who is a local Islamic religious teacher, Malam Jamilu Musa Zaria, died along with his wife Yusra and their three children while trying to escape from the ravaging fire.
Shehu urged the state government to establish more fire fighting stations and equip them with modern fire fighting vehicles and gadgets to prevent losses during fire outbreaks.
