It was confusion in Shagamu, Ogun state as angry residents took to the streets demanding the immediate removal of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for an alleged extortion and illegal arrest of innocent residents in the area.
The residents made the call as they staged a peaceful protest across major streets of the town begging the state government to intervene. The protesters called on the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to have him redeployed and make sure he receives appropriate punishment.
While reacting to the allegations, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, assured the residents that the issue will be investigated and “if the officer is found culpable, he will face the consequence of his actions”.
