Experts say staring at such devices can put unnecessary strain on a person's eyes.
Founder of Focus Clinics Mr.David Allamby said, that there had been 35% increase in the number of people with advancing myopia since the launch of smartphones in 1997.
Based on some researches, being exposed to the blue-and-white light given off by phones, laptops, and other electronic gadgets at night prevents our brains from releasing melatonin, a hormone that tells our bodies it's nighttime.
It is also said that the retina which sends messages to the brain through the optic nerve, is light-sensitive.
If a person will start developing myopia, the thin lining at the back of a person's eye begins to pull away from the blood vessels cutting the supply of oxygen and nutrients.
The condition usually occurs between the ages of 50 and 70, but scientists say an increasing number of young people are suffering from it as well.
Therefore, it is not bad if we stop using our phones or gadgets before we go to sleep, it is also for the good of our eyesight.
