Escaped Tiger Causes Panic on Busy Highway After it Was Spotted Moving Between Cars (Video)

The tiger on the loose in traffic

A tiger has caused severe panic among commuters when it was spotted on a busy highway moving between cars in broad daylight.

A tiger has been filmed weaving through a traffic jam on one of Doha's busiest roads.

The cub is seen in the footage with a broken chain around its neck as it roams along the Doha Expressway.

Upon sight, the tiger reportedly caused panic amongst commuters who immediately sat uptight within their cars

However, they relaxed when, after a while, a man in white robes came after the animal and dragged it from beneath a stationary vehicle. The man's act quickly showed the tiger was quite harmless.

According to Sky News, even though it is believed the tiger was the man's pet - something that is illegal in Qatar.

The interior ministry said it was investigating after the footage appeared on YouTube and Twitter.

Keeping wild animals such as tigers and cheetahs as pets is relatively common in the country despite a maximum sentence of six months in jail.

In one of the videos, the man who retrieved the tiger is heard saying he would be in "big trouble" if the footage was seen.

One social media user, Sultan Al-Qassemi, complained: "This obsession of keeping wild animals by rich kids in the Gulf has gone too far."
