The federal government has approved the deployment of 184 directors in various ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) over the scandal that rocked the 2016 budget.
Twenty-two of those affected are from the ministry of budget and national planning. They are 12 assistant directors, six deputy directors and four directors.
TheCable learnt that they have been told to report at their new posting on Friday.
Akpandem James, spokesman of the minister of budget and planning, confirmed that some directors were redeployed from the ministry, but refused to go into details.
The development comes three weeks after President Muhammadu Buhari dismissed Yahaya Gusau, director-general of the budget office, in connection with the issue of budget padding.
In his recent interview with Al Jazeera, Buhari alleged that saboteurs in his government were behind the shoddy preparation of the budget and vowed to take decisive action against them.
The budget is still at the national assembly, where it is being expected to be passed later in the month.
