FCC New Operational Vehicles

THE Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu has clocked one year in office with a pledge to protect whistle-blowers.

He unveiled 21 brand new operational vehicles, which was provided for the commission by the Federal Government.

But he pleaded with Nigerians to start changing their ways to move the nation forward.

According to a statement by the Head of Media and Publicity of EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, Magu said the vehicles would be “utilised to aid the operations and logistics aspect of the war against corruption.

“They are operational vehicles being supplied to us by the government to further aid our concerted efforts to rid Nigeria of economic and financial crimes.

“We want every Nigerian to start changing their ways and to fully support us to move Nigeria forward.”

He said about 17 more vehicles would be received by the commission in the coming days.

Magu, who thanked the Federal Government for its support to EFCC, said the vehicles would be shared across the commission’s zones.

But the EFCC chairman, however, said the agency would do its best to protect whistle-blowers.

He made the pledge at a separate audience with members of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), who were at the commission’s head office, to seek the agency’s support in advancing the campaign against graft.

He added: ”We are ready to support and work with you. We are in favour of the protection and safety of whistle blowers.

“You are welcome here anytime. We all need to join hands to rid Nigeria of corruption. We have a common consensus, which is fighting corruption.

“As we all know, corruption is a crime against humanity and it affects all of us.”

The leader of the delegation, Kolawole Banwo, who is also the deputy director of CISLAC, said the organisation was on a visit to the commission to solicit support for its cause.

He said: ”We advocate good governance, anti-corruption, transparency, accountability and whistle-blowers protection in our country.
