Ondo election: Return to your units and mobilise for Akeredolu – Oyegun tells APC members

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun has charged members of his party to return to their various units and mobilise for the governorship candidate of the party, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the November 26, election in Ondo State.

Oyegun said to take power from an incumbent government was not an easy task, stressing that for the APC to win the poll, dedication and hardwork were required from its members.

The Chairman spoke at the flag-off campaign of Akeredolu held in Akure, the State Capital, which was attended by prominent APC chieftains across the country.

Some of them included the Vice-President, Yemi Osibanjo, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, represented by Senator Isiaka Adeleke, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Lasun Governors, Plateau, Simon Lalong,Borno, Kashim Shettima, Ogun, Ibikunle Amosun, Sokoto, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and Bauchi, Muhammed Abubakar.

Others were, Ministers of Defence, Mansur Mohammed Dan Ali, Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, Communication, Adebayo Shittu, Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, Niger Delta, Pastor Usani Uguru, Niger Delta (state), and Prof. Cladius Daramola.

Oyegun explained how important the state was to the federal government, adding that the state must join the mainstream politics.

The APC chairman said they would not allow the state to continue to remain in opposition party, urging the electorate to give 90 percent votes for his party.


On his own, Amosun called for unity among APC leaders in the south west.

Akeredolu boasted that the APC would not miss the opportunity of joining the mainstream politics.

He noted that as long as APC was ruling in Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Ogun in south west, the party must take over Ondo State.

“We will not vote for a party that has no councillor.

“We have a lot of challenges in the state, our youths are unemployed and we are ready to create job through agriculture, enterprenuership and industrialization.

“Our workers are not being paid regularly but we are promising them that they will not experience such in our own administration.

“We will create road netowrk and our comprehensive health centres in all communities will be resuscitated.

“We are going to create more local governments and ensure our people at the grassroot level enjoy dividend of democracy”.

At the occasion, Oyegun also officially received some defectors from PDP and LP to APC’s fold.

They are Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, Yemi Mamodu, Victor Ojo, Muyiwa Asagunla, Deji Aseniserare, Ben Orimoloye, Bayo Abitogun, Hassan Tolani, Hon. Otito Atikase, Falaye Ajibola, Ayodele Joseph among others.
