The proposed tertiary institution was originally scheduled by the Rochas Okorocha administration as the permanent site of the Imo State University, IMSU, but was later changed to IEU before its current name, the Eastern Palm University, EPU.
It was gathered that the state government had acquired the 12-hectare piece of land when it planned to transfer IMSU to the place.
However, communities in Ideato South Local Government Area, whose land were also acquired had been duly compensated, while their counterparts in Urualla were allegedly subjected to high level intimidation, harassment and oppression.
Irked by the development, some irate youths stormed the site and destroyed a part of the fence.
Meanwhile, the state governor is yet to react at the moment.
