US endorses NNPC reforms, pledges to support

The United States Government has said it is ready to work with the ne
w management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to reform the Nigerian oil and gas industry.

The US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, told the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Ibe Kachikwu, that the United States would provide all the necessary assistance required by the new NNPC Management to realize its set goals and objectives.



Although Mr. Entwistle acknowledged Mr. Kachikwu’s job in NNPC as the most challenging in the country, he said the US government was confident the NNPC boss will perform the task, as he possesses the skills, training and requisite experience to lead the oil and gas industry in Nigeria towards the path of growth and sustainable development.

Responding, Mr. Kachikwu noted the US’ pledge to support the country, restating the determination of the new NNPC Management to implement the spirit and letter of President Muhammadu Buhari’s reform agenda in the petroleum industry.

He said the new NNPC would be driven by a deep sense of commitment to service delivery anchored on the principle of transparency, efficiency, people, purpose and profit.

“My mission is to re-direct and re-energize the work force for greater value addition and I believe that the NNPC, given the right leadership has what it takes to achieve this objective,’’ he said.
