APGA chairman suspended in Anambra

– The Anambra state chapter of the All progressive Grand Alliance has suspended it chairman Norbert Obi

– Obi was suspended for alleged gross impeachable offences, the state party said in a communique released by its working committee

– The party also called on relevant disciplinary committees to investigate and act on the allegation against Obi

The Anambra state chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has suspended its state chairman Nobert Obi.

The announcement of Obi’s suspension was made available in communique issued at the end of an emergency meeting by the state working committee on Friday, November 4.

He was suspended for alleged gross impeachable offences.

The committee also declared the party’s deputy chairman Tony Omeligwe-Elee as its acting chairman.

The party also called on relevant disciplinary committees to investigate and act on the allegation.

Also, the legal adviser of APGA Sylvester Ezeokenwa, said Obi’s offences include failure to convene statutory meetings of the state working committee and the state executive committee contrary to Article 12 of the party’s constitution.

“Open denigration of members of the SWC and running the party without approved budget by the State Executive Committee  contrary to Article 12 (6) (C) of the constitution,” the communique said.

Others include, “unilaterally constituting the Disciplinary Committee and Reconciliation Committee without seeking the approval or ratification of the SEC contrary to Articles 17 (e) and 22 (3) (a) of the constitution.

“Failure to constitute other statutory standing and ad hoc committees of the party contrary to Articles 16 and 22(7)(f) of the constitution.

“Failure to render appropriate account of the funds accruable to the party, and unilateral expenditure from the party’s account contrary to Article 28 of the constitution.”

The communique signed by 17 out of the 28 members APGA SWC in Anambra, including, Chinedu Nkwonta, the publicity secretary, Umenwa Kingsley ex-Officio 1.

Others are: organizing secretary, Issac Obadiegwu; legal adviser, Sylvester Ezeokenwa; welfare secretary, Chuks Igboanua, the state youth leader, Peter Ozumba; the deputy chairman, Tony Omeligwe Elee and the state secretary, Tony Ifeanya.
