While giving a graphic account of the incident to newsmen in Owerri, the widow’s son, Uche Emeana, not only gave the names of the people that attacked and badly wounded his mother, but also added that “the suspects are now on the run, after dealing the near-fatal machete cuts on my mother jaw”.
Uche recalled that the suspects and other accomplices allegedly wanted to sell seven plots of land belonging to late Sir Christopher Emeana but were resisted by his mother.
According to Vanguard, Uche further explained that apparently enraged by the widow’s refusal to allow the land speculators to sell the piece of land, they dragged his mother to a deadly Mbaise shrine, Ala Ogbaga.
He recounted, “Instead of honouring the invitation to the shrine, my mother reported the suspects to Zone 9 Police Headquarters, Umuahia, as well as the elders of the traditional council, who also came into the matter.”
Uche said that on receiving a second invitation from Zone 9 Police Headquarters, the suspects became infuriated and started threatening her.
It was gathered that the suspects later went back to the widow’s house and inflicted the deadly injuries on her before vanishing into thin air.
