Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has declared that with the decision by a multinational firm, CT Cosmos Nigeria Ltd to set up a massive power generation project worth over $150 million in the state, “Plateau will soon become a Centre of attraction for power generation”.
Lalong made the declaration when he received the MD/CEO of the firm, Chief Philip Chukwuike and his management team in government house Rayfield, Jos.
He noted that, “With the protracted power generation problems we have in Nigeria, to have over 70 megawatts generated on the Plateau is not a joke.”
The Governor threw his weight behind the project and urged the Federal Government to expedite action in giving the necessary support.
He maintained that many advantages that would accrue to the state cannot be overemphasized, adding that aside having additional power supply, “our youths will be employed and revenue will be generated for the state.”
In his remarks, MD/CEO of the firm, Chief Philip Chukwuike, reassured that “within the next few months, Nigeria will witness revolution in electricity generation which will start from Panyam in Plateau State.”
“And I make bold to tell you that we are going to engage the best hands to handle the project. We are going to bring light, empowerment, education, and several job opportunities”, he added.
Chukwuike who said he will personally be on ground to oversee the progress of the project, reassured that “we will meet and exceed your expectation”.
