No fewer than 20 women were on Wednesday left stranded at the Haven Event Centre, Ikeja GRA, Lagos after the inauguration of the programme “Nigerian Women Against Corruption’’, a project of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in collaboration with the office of Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari.
One of the affected women, who spoke to NAN under condition of anonymity, said that a certain woman who was given money meant for their transportation ran away with it.
According to her, they are supposed to give each person N1,000, but with the development, some of them not having money to go home.
“When someone called the woman, she refused to pick her calls,’’ the lady added.
It was observed that the stranded women who were hungry, had to open the food packs they had planned to take home and began to eat, while others scrambled for the souvenirs.
The programme was rounded up at about 1.30p.m, but the women as at 3.30pm were still waiting whether someone would bring their share of the money.

“Can you imagine, we are here to fight against corruption, but somebody went away with our money? As soon as the woman collected the money, she left without giving us our shares.’’
According to her, they are supposed to give each person N1,000, but with the development, some of them not having money to go home.
