The Speaker of the House of Representatives, said on Sunday that the emergency of Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu as the Governor-Elect of Ondo State meant that the All Progressives Congress remained a popular political party loved by Nigerians.
The former President of the Nigerian Bar Association had polled 237,812 votes to beat his closest rival, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Jegede scored 145,367 votes, while a third candidate, Mr. Olusola Oke of the Alliance for Democracy, got 104,111 votes.
The results were announced by the Chief Returning Officer appointed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Abdul Ganiyu-Ambali.

Part of a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Turaki Hassan, read, “The election of Akeredolu and the APC in Ondo state is a clear indication of the popularity of our political party.
