Ex Civil Service Boss Shies Away from Cameras as Court Grants Him Bail (Photos)

Former head of Service of the Federation, Steve Oransanye, who shy away from the cameras, was on Tuesday, granted bail by Justice Olasumbo Goodluck of FCT High Court, Maitama, Abuja.

Former Head of Service of the federation, Steven Oronsaye, was yesterday, granted bail in the sum of N10million by Justice Olasunbo Goodluck of the Abuja High Court for a two-count charge of fraud and conversion of N190million meant for a government trust fund.

He was alleged to have deposited N190 million made for the Presidential Committee on Financial Action Task Force which he chaired into a fixed bond in a different bank.

At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, March 15, Goodluck in her ruling on the bail application by Oronsaye Counsel, Joe Agi, held that there is no evidence before the court that the defendant would jeopardise investigation.

She held that though the offence attracts 14 years imprisonment, the defendant has been obedient to the orders of the Federal High Court, where he is also standing trial for another offence.

Goodluck, therefore, admitted him to bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties in like sum. She ordered that the sureties must not be below the ranks of director or former directors in the federal civil service who must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned hearing in the matter until March 24.
