We reported it here yesterday that at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, an investigator with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Michael Wetkas, alleged that the embattled Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki was being paid full salary and allowances as a governor four years after quitting office as governor.
Few hours later, the Kwara State government released a statement claiming that the money Saraki was paid was the legitimate pension due to him as former governor, adding that he was paid N578,188.00 as pension.
However, the kwara government was being economic with the truth. According to the law granting pension to past governors in the state pension, reviewed by Saraki himself in 2010, he is entitled to the following insane allowances and emoluments:
Pension for life equivalent to incumbent salary
A total of five cars, two replaceable every three years.
Well furnished 5-bedroom duplex
Furniture allowances: 300% of salary every two years
Five pensionable domestic staff
Eight policemen, three SSS operatives, one which must be a female
Free medicals for governors and their families
30-day annual vacation abroad with 30-day estacodes
Car maintenace: 30% of salary
Utility: 20% of salary
Entertainment: 10% of salary
House maintenance: 10% of salaries
