Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel Obi and Arsenal forward, Alex Iwobi have arrived the team's camp ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, has told the News Agency of Nigeria that Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel Obi, and Arsenal forward, Alex Iwobi, have arrived the team’s camp ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against the Pharaohs of Egypt.


The encounter with Egypt is scheduled to take place in Kaduna on March 25, and to be followed by another in Alexandria Egypt, on March 29.

Mikel Obi's arrival on Monday morning, brought the total number of foreign players in camp to four. The other players are Aminu Umar and Shehu Abdullahi.

He said goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and forward, Oghenekaro Etebo were the only home-based players in camp out of the six home-based players left in Coach Samson Siasia’s list.

"Chibuzor Okonkwo, Matthew Etim, Ifeanyi Matthew and Kalu Orji are yet to arrive after playing for their clubs in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matches.

"These six home-based players will join their foreign-based counterparts for the match against Egypt. Other foreign-based and home-based players are on their way," he said.

The spokesman disclosed that full training in preparation for the encounter would commence on Tuesday at the National Stadium, Abuja. "There is no training today (Monday) because it’s arrival day; intensive training will commence on Tuesday," he said.

Nineteen other foreign-based players are expected to arrive the team’s camp in Abuja, later on Monday.
