Ndigbo Marginalisation: Ngige Ridiculed In Enugu For Defending Buhari’s ‘One-Sided Appointments’

Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour ‎and Productivity

The Minister of Labour ‎and Productivity, Chris Ngige, was on Monday, ridiculed during a South East Town Hall Meeting in Enugu while trying to defend President Muhammadu Buhari's alleged ‘one-sided appointments’.

The Town Hall meeting which was organised by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture almost ended up in a rowdy session after Ngige was called upon to address the people of Enugu state.

Soon as the minister stepped on the podium to speak, the people of Enugu would not let him say a word before they started shouting “No no no” until the crowd in the hall became unmanageable.

The minister was repeatedly being mocked at every statement he made to defend Buhari's appointments.

He tried to explain that the president has the right to choose the people he feels comfortable working with.

The people alleged that President Buhari's government has so far marginalised the Igbos in all its appointments.

During the Town Hall sessions, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo further condemned the ongoing forgery trial of Ike Ekweremadu, stating that they would resist any attempt by the federal government to unseat the Deputy Senate President.

President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said “the plot by some forces within the APC to remove Ekweremadu is a very dangerous dimension.

“Ekweremadu is not a product of the South-East but the entire Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“So, any attempt to remove him as the Deputy Senate President will be resisted by the Ohanaeze Youth Council. We will make this place very hot for any person, groups, or cabal that tried to remove Ekweremadu.

“We will match to the National Assembly straight away, occupy the place and resist any move by anybody within the government of Buhari to remove Ekweremadu. It won’t happen,” he added.
