A Kenyan man has left villagers in Macheke shell-shocked last Friday after he forced his two sons to drink termite poison before drinking it himself.
The 40-year-old man killed his two sons and himself with termite poison following a heated argument with his wife over a domestic issue.
The man identified as Tendai Tambanda, his two children Elton (7) and Stallion (12) of Plot 4, Village 12 in Wenimbe, Macheke, were all pronounced dead on arrival at Marondera Hospital, NewsDay Kenya reveals.
According to the report, an internal police memo seen by NewsDay Kenya reveals that Tambanda had a domestic dispute with his wife (name not given).
After a heated verbal exchange, it is reported that Tambanda’s wife left the homestead to an unknown destination.
Tambanda later forced his sons to drink a poisonous substance before drinking it himself. After the heinous act, Tambanda went to his brother’s homestead where he told him that he and his sons had consumed poison.
It is reported that his brother took the trio to Marondera Hospital where they were later pronounced dead. Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo is yet to give details about the incident.
