Buhari will assemble cabinet of loyal players – Odigie-Oyegun

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, said on Wednesday that President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet will be constituted by people he (Buhari) can confidently instruct as to what he expects of them.

The APC National Chairman, who spoke at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja while receiving a delegation of the Association of Northern Students who visited him on the occasion of his 76th birthday, said the President would assemble his team in the next few weeks.

Odigie-Oyegun said, “In the next few weeks, he will now assemble the team who he can confidently give direct instructions as to what he expects to be done, which means he is in a better position to measure whether anybody entrust with any function is performing or not performing, he is meeting target or not.

“So we have a totally new situation, a new reality and a new approach to governance which is emphasising target and deliverables in the lives of the people that he has been entrusted to govern.”

He said the current administration had adopted a new approach to governance while also assuring that the President was going to put in place a team he could confidently give instruction as to what he expected.

Odigie-Oyegun said, “Let anybody make no mistake about how committed President Buhari is. In fact, that is the core of his life and he has spent the last two months understanding the situation that he has taken over without interference and distractions.

“He has been able to hear, sit and interact with the core operators without third party intermediaries.”

Earlier, Chairman of the Northern Nigerian Students, Mike Omoba, said his delegation comprised students from different campuses.

Omoba congratulated Odigie-Oyegun on the occasion of his birthday, saying the students celebrated his landmark achievements over the years.
