Kidnapped Woman Found After Sending Text From Attacker's Phone

A text message cry out for help potentially saved a Tennessee woman's life this past weekend in Slidell.

Early Saturday evening (June 6th), Slidell Police were contacted by a woman from Tennessee who stated her sister had been kidnapped, raped, beaten, and was being held against her will at a Slidell hotel.
After speaking with Tennessee authorities, it was determined that 34-year-old, Lee Meadows (of Clarksville, Tennessee), was a suspect in the kidnapping of a woman, and was recently released from jail on domestic abuse related charges.

Slidell Police swarmed the hotel where the victim was being held captive, and breached the door of the hotel room after Mr. Meadows refused to answer the door. When officers gained access to the room, they found the victim badly beaten and in need of medical attention. Mr. Meadows surrendered without incident and was placed under arrest. The victim was brought to a local hospital to be treated for multiple injuries, including broken bones. Slidell Police investigators then began to debrief the victim about her terrifying ordeal.
The victim told police she was taken against her will from Tennessee, and brought to Louisiana, because Mr. Meadows wanted to get out of the state due to pending criminal charges. Mr. Meadows allegedly had friends in the New Orleans area, which was why he decided to come to Louisiana.

Throughout the ordeal, Mr. Meadows took all of the victim's belongings, including her cell phone, so she couldn't contact anyone. After arriving in Slidell, Mr. Meadows checked into a local hotel, then continuously beat, strangled, and raped the victim. The victim, not knowing where she was at, was able to send a text message for help to her sister; indicating she was somewhere outside of New Orleans. Authorities in Tennessee were able to obtain the location from where the text message was sent, which ultimately led Slidell Police to the hotel. Lee Meadows was booked at the Slidell City Jail and charged with: battery by strangulation, second degree battery, false imprisonment, and forcible rape. Mr. Meadows has since been transferred to the St. Tammany Parish Jail.

Slidell Police Chief Randy Smith said,
"Had it not been for the determination of the victim to survive, and the swift actions by Tennessee authorities and the officers at the Slidell Police Department, we could easily be working a homicide right now. Hopefully our criminal justice system will put Mr. Meadows away for a long time to where he won't be able to hurt anyone ever again.

Reports Of Me Decamping To PDP Is Laughable And Absurd Says Bukola Saraki

Reports Of Me Decamping To PDP Is Laughable And Absurd Says Bukola Saraki

Senate President Bukola Saraki has described as absurd and laughable, rumors of him defecting to PDP from APC. In a statement he released today June 10th, Sen. Saraki said he left the PDP willingly and will not be going back there at this time when he's already in a ruling party.
"The new Senate President also denies that he had a plan to decamp to the People's Democratic Party, describing the insinuation as " absurd and laughable." According to him, "it is just cheap blackmail by political adversaries who want to call a dog a bad name in order to hang it. And those making such desperate allegations should remember that I willingly left the PDP on matters of principles when the party was in power. Is it now that the party is out of government and in opposition that I will now return having worked so hard for my party in the last general elections".
Read the full statement below;
The Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has described President Muhammadu Buhari's reaction to Tuesday's election of National Assembly leaders as a "great mark of leadership" and a demonstration of the President's commitment to democracy. In a statement issued by his media office on Wednesday, the Senate President commended President Buhari for remaining steadfast in his commitment to the principle of non-interference in National Assembly politics even in the face of great pressure on him to act otherwise. "This shows that Mr. President is a man of great conviction who, in his own words, belong to everyone and to no one," the statement reads. In a similar vein, the new Senate President also denies that he had a plan to decamp to the People's Democratic Party, describing the insinuation as " absurd and laughable." According to him, "it is just cheap blackmail by political adversaries who want to call a dog a bad name in order to hang it. And those making such desperate allegations should remember that I willingly left the PDP on matters of principles when the party was in power. Is it now that the party is out of government and in opposition that I will now return having worked so hard for my party in the last general elections," he queried.
He stated his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he remains a loyal party member and a leader of the party, committed to contributing his quota to building the party and helping it to deliver its promise of change to Nigerian people. He urged all members of the National Assembly to put politicking behind them and settle down for the proper business of legislating. "Our country is going through a very trying times. We have the challenge of insecurity in the North East. The massive problem of youth unemployment and general economic challenges occasioned by the falling oil prices in the international market and the consequential fall in revenue. All these are coming against the huge public expectation that propelled our party into office. We have pursued our legitimate aspirations appropriately. Now that the issues have been settled, we need to move on in the larger interest of our people, without whose mandate we would not have been in a position to aspire to these positions in the first place." The Senate President stated his readiness to embrace every member of the Senate regardless of his or her political leanings in the leadership elections just concluded.

The Quest To Stay In The UK! 25-Year Old Nigerian And British Pregnant Wife Begs Immigration To Let Them Be

This is the story of a 25-year old Nigerian who is desperately doing everything to stay back in the UK. Infact, he and his pregnant British wife have been forced to borrow £4000 out of his wife's grandma's funeral money to pay for legal services, which has mostly not been successful. They have however started using other means to campaign and ask that Daodu remains in UK. It just shows how bad Daodu thinks Nigeria is. Dude needs to chill lol. But seriously, you have to read his story, e never reach like this now.

A member of the Nigerian Olympic boxing squad who came to the UK for the London 2012 Games was locked up in immigration detention despite marrying a British woman who is pregnant with his child. Adedayo Victor Daodu, 25, known as Victor, arrived in the UK in June 2012 to train as a sparring partner with the Nigerian team. Last week he was sent to Dungavel immigration removal centre in South Lanarkshire and threatened with imminent deportation back to Lagos, to the horror of his Wigan-born wife, Robyn, who is seven months pregnant with their first child. It is the second time he has been detained by immigration officers and sent to Dungavel this year.

Robyn's parents, both psychiatric nurses, have begun a campaign to keep their family - and unborn grandchild - in the country. In a letter to the Home Office, they wrote: "When we first met Victor we were both sceptical about his intentions and questioned him relentlessly about who he was and what he was all about. "We were able to use our experience as psychiatric nurses to ascertain whether or not Victor was genuine and whether or not what he was telling us was the truth. Since that time we can both honestly say that Victor is a genuinely humble man who is deeply religious and also deeply loves our daughter Robyn."

The couple's case is also being supported by their Labour MP, Debbie Abrahams, who managed to get Daodu released from Dungavel on Thursday. Eric Noi, director of Oldham Boxing and Personal Development Centre, where Daodu has been training for the past 18 months, described him as "a true and honest man, a loving husband who wants to be a good father". Before the Games began, Daodu decided to sign up for the British army and claims to have passed the written and physical selection tests to join the Royal Logistic Corps. While awaiting his final selection test, he applied to extend his visa so that he could stay in Britain before enlisting.

The Guardian has seen correspondence from the UK Border Agency (UKBA) dated January 2013 that acknowledged his visa application and advised him "not to make any urgent travel plans until we have decided the application and returned the passports or travel documents".
Daodu took this to mean he should stay in the UK while he waited rather than returning to Nigeria. Meanwhile, he had met and fallen in love with Robyn Jones, now 27, who was studying for a degree in health and social care in Hull.

The pair met on the Plenty of Fish dating website in November 2012 and moved in together in a house in Salford in July 2013. The day they moved, Daodu received an email from the army that told him the government had just changed recruitment guidelines so that, from 11 July, all Commonwealth citizens wishing to join the regular army had to provide proof of "indefinite leave to remain" or five years' residency in the UK. In January 2014 his application to join the army was refused. Desperate to stay together, Robyn helped him apply for asylum on the grounds that he would be subject to persecution in Nigeria if it became known he had tried to join the British army.

On New Year's Day 2014, with his asylum claim pending, the pair got engaged. They applied to get married, and were interviewed separately by at Manchester register office to ascertain whether their marriage was a sham. Daodu showed as proof of his identity his UKBA "application registration card" with his picture and date of birth, showing that he was forbidden from taking employment while his application to stay in the UK was being processed. The couple claim an official in Burnley initially did not know whether the couple could marry given his uncertain immigration status.

But after advice from the Home Office helpline he gave them the necessary permission. They were married in April 2014. In July 2014 his asylum claim was refused. He appealed several times, and was most recently refused leave to stay in March this year. In a letter to his solicitors, the Home Office said the couple should instead move to Nigeria, a country Robyn has never visited. In addition, both of her parents are registered disabled, and she said she acted as a carer for them when not working as a nursing assistant.

"Whilst it is acknowledged that Robyn Daodu is pregnant this does not constitute an insurmountable obstacle to family life continuing in your client's country of origin," said the letter, seen by the Guardian. "It is considered that the standard of living conditions, employment and education prospects available to your client and his family in Nigeria is something that could reasonably be expected to be overcome, even with a degree of hardship for one or more of the family members concerned."

So far the couple say they have spent £4,000 on legal fees trying to stay together in the UK, largely borrowed from Robyn's 84-year-old grandmother. "My nan has had to lend us her funeral money. How bad is that?" said Robyn in an interview on Friday. After the London Games, a number of stories surfaced in the media about athletes from other countries absconding from the Olympic village. Reports at the time suggested three of the four Guinean athletes competing went awol, along with five from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and seven Cameroonians.

But Noi said Daodu was paying the price for his honesty: "He's the victim of a flawed, outdated process, which dehumanises and takes common sense out of the equation. Victor is easy fodder for the immigration services. He has complied at every turn - he signs on, he doesn't work, even though he has plenty of offers from people at the gym, believe me. They don't have to chase him or raid anywhere to find him." Kamila Shamsie on applying for British citizenship: 'I never felt safe'. He said he was confident that Daodu's case was genuine and that he would be a positive addition to society.

"I am confident that if he is allowed to stay he will - without a shadow of doubt - make a positive contribution. His religion gives him a really strong moral conscience. He's already volunteering and helping out at the gym when he can," said Noi, adding that Daodu was easily good enough to box professionally. Noi said Britain had a duty to Commonwealth citizens such as Daodu after the years of "raping and pillaging and enslaving Commonwealth nations".

"All he wanted to do was come over here and serve our country," said Noi. Abrahams, MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth, where the couple are now living, said: "I'm glad to hear that Victor has been reunited with Robyn and we'll continue to offer support as his leave to remain application is considered." The Home Office said it did not routinely comment on individual cases.

Woman Dumps Husband, Announces Plans To Wed Husband's Father

A 36-year-old wife who walked out on her husband after just eight months is now marrying his 74-year-old father.

Liza Goddard, of Grimsby, divorced Jason Harwood, 35, in 2003, after a short-lived marriage which broke down in less than one year. But she is now set to become her ex-husband's stepmother after becoming engaged to Jason's father John, who is nearly 40 years her senior.

Jason had become suspicious of his father and his wife after the trio lived together in the pensioner's bedsit in Slough, Berkshire.

But Jason only found out about the secret affair after he visited his father to congratulate him on the news of his engagement. His father then revealed that his fiancée was his son's ex-wife.

Unemployed Jason told how, ten minutes later, Ms Goddard waltzed into his father's home in Grimbsy and said: 'You'd better get used to the idea of me being your step mum.'

He told The Sun: 'She is going from my ex-wife to my step mum. What they are doing is wrong.'

Jason had married Ms Goddard in 2000, after the pair met at a youth club.

But, straight away, the couple moved into Jason's father's bedsit in an attempt to save money. They even spent their wedding night with John in a sleeping bag next to their bed.
