The Ohanmu Family in Benin is presently in a battle with the Esama of Benin, Chief Igbinedion for a prime property (Pictured above) located at Sapele road directly opposite Kada Plaza.
Trouble started when a house demolition team came in the night and began demolishing the said property which sparked outrage from the Ohanmu family.
Igbinedion claims to have bought the house through an auction process from the African Continental Bank. But the Ohanmu Family has since denied that such sale existed as they themselves contacted
the bank and the bank denied anu such auction sale.
Investigation gathered from the Ohanmu Family revealed that the house was used to collect a loan by
Ohanmu's late father and that the bank has not taken any action as Igbinedion claims.
Here's what a member of the Ohanmu Family said about the issue:
The name Igbinedion is not new to any Nigerian. While it is a household name, it is not uncommon to have it associated with oppression, thuggery and controversies.
On September 4th 2017, The city of Benin saw Igbinedion (The Esama) display his inconsiderate tendencies as he brought to the ground a building that housed stores and offices of well meaning Nigerians.
The building which is seen in the attached pictures and situate on the ever busy Sapele Road, opposite Phil Hallmark/Kada Cinemas in Benin City, belonged to late S.I Ohanmu (a friend of the Esama until his demise) was demolished at midnight by Igbinedion using his goons which consist of touts and thugs.
Unfortunately, Igbinedion (the Esama) is taking undue advantage of his late friends property and his claims to have acquired the building is unfounded.
Igbinedion should be asked to provide any document or receipt showing the property was sold to him or belongs to him. Otherwise, the government should confirm through the Commissioner of lands and survey the rightful owner of the said property.
It's is so unfortunate that in this day and age, Igbinedion, The Esama of Benin can take laws into his hands and without human sympathy, displace people from their places of work and destroy properties and belongings of innocent Nigerians who are working hard to make ends meet. And this is coming at a time when Igbinedion is about to celebrate his birthday.
There are ways to resolve disputes and demolishing the property of another man and in the process destroying the properties of other Nigerians is not an approved way.
This is a cry to the Edo State Government to intervene swiftly on this matter.
This is an appeal to the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki to rise to the occasion and see that justice is done.
Enough of thuggery, injustice and oppression in Edo State.
THE OHANMU fAMILY IS USING THIS MEDIUM TO CALL ON ALL RELEVANT AUTHORITIES TO COME TO THEIR AID AS THIS IS A CLEAR ISSUE OF LAND GRABBING BY IGBINEDION WHICH IS ABOVE THE LAW.
