Pandemonium in mortuary as dead man being dressed for burial grabs his brother's hand


There was pandemonium Sunday at a mortuary in Plateau state, when a corpse being dressed for burial suddenly held on to the hand of his brother who was dressing the corpse and refused to let go.
The incident took place at the mortuary of Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Jos. The deceased, identified as Choji Zeng, 35, was to be buried that same day.

Family members had just finished participating in washing the corpse but as his brother, Gyang Zeng, was dressing the corpse in a white garment, it moved and grabbed his hand. Family members ran away at the sight and this caught the attention of mortuary attendants.

Gyang confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria and revealed that it took the intervention of the mortuary attendants for their hands to be separated. Relations and neighbours who witnessed the incident, also confirmed it.

Gyang also revealed that when the deceased held his hands, he asked him;
"Choji why did you hold my hand, you want me to join you or what".
Choji and Gyang lived lived together at Ungwan Juma’a Abattoir in Jos metropolis until Choji suffered a brief illness and died. Relatives of the deceased revealed he died of liver disease.

One of the mortuary attendants said that it was not the first time such a thing will happen in the mortuary. Mr. Benjamin Oche, a neighbour of the two brothers who also witnessed the incident said prior to his death, Choji and Gyang had a misunderstanding over the land their parents left for them but no foul play was suspected in Choji's death.
