The Senator, who visited the area on Tuesday to see things for himself said, the earth tremor was an act of God, urging the people in the area to be patient and wait for geology experts to give their final report on the issue.
“I was shocked when I heard the incident; why should it happen in Nigeria and in my jurisdiction? I pray to
God that my people will not experience such again,” La’ah said.
He added that the earth tremor was the first to be recorded in Africa, even
though there was an earthquake in Tanzania some weeks back.
“We thank God the magnitude of the tremor was not high and no
casualty was recorded during the occurrences.
“Something drastic need to be done to know the real cause and the best way out of it,” La’ah observed.
One of the victims, Major general Yusuf Pyeng (rtd), a one time provost
marshal of the Nigerian army said,” the tremor occurred about twenty
times on Sunday and Monday.
“The one that scared us the most was the one that took place on Monday in the morning; it was as if all the houses will pull down,” General Pyeng said.
