I Can Rob Any Taxi Driver with Ordinary Biscuit - Notorious Suspect, Car Dealer Makes Shocking Confessions

I Can Rob Any Taxi Driver with Ordinary Biscuit - Notorious Suspect, Car Dealer Makes Shocking Confessions

Garba Ibrahim

A shoe seller-turned car dealer who found a niche in the robbery world and specialised in robbing taxi drivers, has make some shocking revelations.

A 49-year-old native of Otukpo in Benue State, identified as Garba Ibrahim, who found a niche in the robbery world and specialised in robbing taxi drivers, has revealed that his robbery method was so fool-proof that he did not think he could ever fail.

According to Punch Metro, the suspect’s simple and seemingly harmless way of dispossessing taxi drivers of their vehicles, took him across Abuja, Benue and Kogi states, where he operated until the long arm of the law caught up with him.

While confesing his crimes at the Force Headquarters in Abuja when he was apprehended, told police investigators that, “With only biscuit, I can rob any taxi driver. I usually lace the biscuit with drugs.”

When Ibrahim was caught by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, eight vehicles were recovered from him. They were the remaining of many vehicles he stole and had yet to dispose of.

He said in the statement he made to police investigators that he was married with four children and started his criminal activities just few months ago, when he realised robbing taxi drivers was not that difficult.

The suspect said he discovered the method of drugging taxi drivers by chance.

He said, “It all started when I chartered a cab from Makurdi to Gboko. On the way, I stopped over at a restaurant to buy food, part of which I offered to the driver. We bought Semovita and drove to a place and started eating. He started feeling dizzy.

“I then took out his floor mat from the car and told him to sleep on it. But before he slept off, I took the car key. As soon as he slept off, I drove the car, a Volkswagen Golf 3 to Otukpo and I sold it to a man called Chiama for N500,000.

“Fourteen days after I robbed that driver, I travelled to Abuja and boarded another cab. I asked the driver to take me to Sheraton Hotel. I paid him when we got there and asked him to wait so he could take me back. I entered the hotel to make him think I was rich. But I went to the pool side and sat there for some time.”

Ibrahim said after a while, he went out to meet the driver and told him to take him to another hotel. When they got there, he said he paid for a room and told the driver to follow him inside to collect his fare.

The suspect said, “Once inside the room, I told him I needed to eat something fast and asked if he wanted something to eat too. I brought out bread and biscuit from my bag. I had already put some sleeping drugs on them.

“I took one of the biscuits and gave the rest to him, which he took and ate. Soon after, he slept off. I then took his key and left with the key. I drove the vehicle to Kano State and I sold it to one Abdulrahman for N600,000.”

The police have said Ibrahim would soon be charged to court as soon as investigation is complete.

TSA Responsible For Liquidity Squeeze In Economy – NNDC

TSA Responsible For Liquidity Squeeze In Economy – NNDC

Alhaji Bashir Mohammed Dalhatu

The chairman, Board of Directors of New Nigeria Development Company (NDDC) limited, Alhaji Bashir Mohammed Dalhatu yesterday said the full implementation of Treasury Single Account (TSA) aimed at blocking leakages of government revenue, fight against corruption, and removal of oil subsidy as well as efforts made in stabilising the exchange rate resulted in liquidity squeeze in the economy.

He stated this at the 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the company’s BOD which held at the headquarters of the company in Kaduna.

According to Dalhatu; “ the economic and business environment in which the company operated during the period could be described as severe, which he said is evidence by the continuous decline in the

international price of crude oil which led to a sharp decline in government revenue resulting in a significant reduction in foreign earnings and unabated devaluation of the Naira against other major foreign currencies, adding that, “there was a sharp decline in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).”

He further said that the volatile business environment under which the company operated during the period impacted on the performance, “the company recorded decline of 3% in operating income from N923.9m in the previous year to N898.6 which was attributed to lower dividend income.

“This was further worsened by the activities of the Niger Delta militants which has continued to impact negatively on the level of oil production for export.

“Also, a 29% decrease in operating profit before‎ tax from N237.2m to N167.9m was recorded. The company was able to improve its net assets per share by 1.7% from N18.5 to N18.8 when compared with results of the year ended 31st March, 2015 respectively.”

One of Nigerian billionaires and the Chief Executive Officer of a Nigerian oil and gas company - Forte Oil Plc, was one of the attendees of the highly publicized wedding of Zahra Buhari, the most popular daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari.

As Mr. Femi Otedola innocently took a picture with a lawmaker - Femi Gbajabiamila and another friend, eagle-eyed social media user spotted his simple phones that looked like the old Nokia Torchlight phones.

"Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people, this is not in the case of billionaire/business tycoon Femi Otedola who was spotted at Zahra Buhari's wedding ceremony today with these phones that my little sister would reject if i hand it over to her as a gift," a top social media commenter said.

Senate gives condition to reconsider Magu's condition

Senate to reconsider Magu's confirmation

- Nigerian Senate has said it might reconsider its decision to confirm Ibrahim Magu as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

- The upper chamber said the explanations provided by President Muhammadu Buhari, who nominated Magu, would determine if the nominee would be considered

- Ibrahim Magu was rejected by the lawmakers based on a “security report” on him

The Nigerian Senate has said it might reconsider its decision to confirm Ibrahim Magu as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The upper chamber said the explanations provided by President Muhammadu Buhari, who had nominated Magu, would determine if the nominee would be considered or not, The Punch reports.

Senator Sabi Abdullahi, the chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, on Friday, December 16, said that the lawmakers had taken their decision on the matter and it was left for the president to take the next step.

He said: “This is not an issue that is ambiguous and I will not take issue with anybody. What we have said is very straightforward and unambiguous. It is not our responsibility or in our power to tell Mr. President what to do.

“It is his prerogative and for every action taken, there must be a basis. Let him take any action but, of course, he will base his action on explanations. If that happens, we will take his explanations based on their face value and see. Until then, our decision is very simple. It is unambiguous; that is what we said from the beginning and that is what we stand by.”

However the Senate said Magu’s rejection would be communicated to the Presidency by next week.

Abdullahi, said the communication would undergo legislative process before getting to President Buhari.

The acting chairman of the EFCC was on Thursday, December 15, rejected by the lawmakers based on a “security report” on him.

A security report by the Department of State Services (DSS) revealed the details on Magu, saying that the anti-corruption boss who has been praised for his work at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) failed integrity test.

In the memo signed by one Folashade Bello and addressed to the Senate on Friday, the DSS maintained that rejecting Magu was the right decision.

It also accused the anti-corruption chief of living beyond his means, such as currently staying in a 40million apartment at 20million a year. The apartment was not paid for by the EFCC but by a former ally of President Buhari Umar Muhammed, who was just recently released by the DSS on order of a court.
