PDP Governors Set To Form A New Party?

There are strong indications that the governors elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are planning to form a new political party away from the crisis-ridden PDP, as the conflict in the party deepens over the refusal of the current chairman of the party, Adamu Muazu, to resign as being demanded by the party's governors.

Emerging signals from different caucuses of members are pointing towards a possible break-up of the party in no distant future, with the governors of the party determined to form a parallel political platform.

Indication to this emerged earlier yesterday as state governors on the platform of PDP were insisting that its National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu'Azu must resign on the basis of his alleged compromises which to them made the PDP to lose the Presidential election.

The governors had held a meeting last week in Abuja where they drew the battle line with Mu'Azu, just as they barred him from attending the meeting for which they refused to invite him.

They had met with President Jonathan after the meeting, intimating him about their plan to ensure the ouster of Mu'Azu as the PDP Chairman, as a step towards a full re-organisation of the PDP.

It was gathered that some of the governors are already in Abuja for a fresh meeting called by the PDP Governors Forum Chairman, Senator-elect, Godswill Obot Akpabio, to determine Mu'Azu's fate.

The meeting, it was learnt, was billed hold at the Akwa Ibom Governors Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja later in the evening of yesterday.

According to plans, the PDP governors will again proceed to the Presidential Villa to brief President Jonathan on the agenda they have for reviving the decaying party.

There were reports that the governors have started working on a plan B to handle the crises within the PDP with a resolve that many of them will move out of the party to form a new political platform.

Attempt to break-up the PDP in a similar manner in the past had failed, whereas members who left the party to form the New PDP as a platform, eventually dissolved into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to reports, the governors may execute the "Plan B" in the event of Mu'Azu's refusal to resign, most essentially before the exit of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The PDP Chairman who quietly left the country for tour of Europe last Saturday had told party members that he would not resign, pointing out that efforts being made to push him off his seat will fail.

He had equally predicted to his supporters in confidence that the PDP will break-up in the event that he was forced out of office, contending that the party cannot really sustain its style of using and dumping its leaders.

The National Working Committee (NWC) had disowned responsibility for the party's loss at the presidential and other elections blaming it rather on the campaign handlers. National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh had told newsmen in Abuja that the NWC was never carried along during the campaigns, and could not have performed magic to return the president.

Meanwhile, there are insinuations that Mu'azu is keen on holding on to his office in PDP as a measure of upping his political profile ahead of 2019, when he would have been fully prepared to contest the presidential election on the platform of PDP.

President Goodluck Jonathan, according to reports has not been happy with the turn of events in the party, as he is said to be appealing to top members to intervene by appealing to warring parties to sheathe swords.

Meanwhile, Senate President, David Mark, has said that except the in-fighting in the PDP is put to an end forthwith, the party is headed for final destruction and oblivion.

A statement issued yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, said that Mark, who lamented over the continued acrimony between factions in the party, said that "the PDP is already hemorrhaging".

According to the statement, the Senate President, who stated this while receiving the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, who heads the PDP Post - election assessment committee, pointed out that, "unless we halt the bleeding and find the necessary therapy, we may be heading for the final burial of the party".

He also noted that "the party is already in a comatose status and we should do all we can to resuscitate the party rather than this unnecessary rancour and bulk passing".

According to him, "The emerging factions are absolutely unnecessary. The combatants must sheathe their swords and embrace dialogue. My appeal is that we should not do anything further that would damage the already fragmented house.

"Everybody should come together and rebuild the party. We have gotten enough bruises. We need not inflict further pains on ourselves, with continuous bickering. Enough of this blame-game. We should return to the drawing board and need not wash our dirty linen in the public, anymore.

"I believe a useful lesson has been learnt from the PDP electoral misfortune. As for me, it is time to put on our thinking caps and chart a new course".

"I trust Senator Ekweremadu that he and his team will do a good job and unearth the remote and immediate causes of our misfortune and make recommendations that will enhance the future of the party", Mark said.

He said the new status of the party as an opposition is a challenge which members must face with all honesty, sincerity of purpose and dedication to duty.

WAEC Cancels 2014 Results Of Candidates

The National Examinations (NEC) Committee of WAEC on Thursday said that it had cancelled results of candidates involved in examination malpractices at the 2014 examinations. Mr Damianus Ojijeogu of the Public Affairs Department in WAEC disclosed this in a statement in Lagos. He said that the decision was taken at the 59th meeting of the committee.

Waec cardOjijeogu said that the communiqué of the meeting was signed by an officer at the Public Affairs Department of WAEC, Mr. Damianus Ojijeogu. It said the committee reviewed a report on irregularity and special and clemency cases arising from the conduct of the May/June 2014 West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE) at the meeting.

The statement said that the communiqué also said that the committee considered a report on the conduct of the November/December 2014 WASSCE, including irregularity cases arising from the conduct of the examination. It said that there were proven cases of malpractices by some candidates.

"In the course of considering the various reported cases of malpractice, the committee, after diligent deliberations, approved appropriate sanctions in all established cases of malpractice.

"This action is as prescribed by the rules and regulations governing the conduct of the council's examinations. "It approved that the entire results of such candidates involved in proven cases be cancelled. "The communiqué also recommended that the subjects' results of those involved in proven cases of malpractice be similarly cancelled.

" In addition, some candidates will also suffer other sanctions such as barring them from sitting for the council's examinations for a certain number of years," it said. The statement said that the decisions of the committee would be implemented without delay, while the affected candidates would be duly informed by the council. It, however, said that the results of candidates exonerated by the committee would be released.

According to the communiqué, the committee's sanctions will also be imposed on all the ad-hoc examination staff that condoned the malpractice. "The committee has directed all the ad-hoc examination functionaries, who were indicted of involvement or condoning malpractice during the conduct of the examination, be reported to appropriate state Ministries of Education.

"The ad-hoc examination functionaries, who participated during the November/December 2014 WASSCE, would also be reported to relevant bodies for disciplinary action. "This will be in addition to the sanctions imposed on them by the council. "The committee, as in previous meetings, strongly expressed concern at the alarming incidence of malpractice in examinations and urged stakeholders to join hands in curbing the menace," it said.

According to the communiqué, identified weaknesses of candidates are mentioned in the reports including poor mathematical skills and Geography 3. It also identified other weaknesses ranging from poor handwriting, omission of units in their final answers to numerical problems in Physics 2 and inability to spell technical terms correctly as observed in Biology 3 and Health, among others.

The communiqué suggested the need for students to learn the basic principles and concepts in the various subjects and apply them in solving everyday problems as some of the remedies. It urged the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Universities Commission to urgently facilitate the recognition of the newly introduced trade subjects.

According to the communiqué, these subjects should be added to the list of acceptable subjects for admission into universities. It said that the committee had, before their deliberations, unanimously elected Mrs. Fatima Abdulrahaman to act as the chairman. Abdulrahaman is the National President, All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS).

Jonathan Meets Buhari In Secret Again

Jonathan Meets Buhari In Secret Again

Goodluck Jonathan has again met behind closed doors with the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari. The meeting was held inside the President's office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

It is the third time he would be meeting Buhari after INEC declared him winner of the presidential poll. The meeting, which held at night, just like the first one they had on a public holiday (Good Friday), was described as "private" and so it was not open to journalists.

Buhari arrived for the meeting in a convoy of about four cars at about 9 pm. According to Aso Rock sources, the meeting lasted less than 30 minutes. Although there was no official communication on the meeting, it might not be unconnected with the ongoing transition programmes and preparation for Buhari's inauguration on May 29.

At the end of their second meeting, Jonathan had told State House correspondents that a date would be picked during which he would conduct Buhari round the Presidential Villa before his inauguration day.

But the APC is not ready for such excursion from Jonathan. They believe Buhari knows Aso Rock well.

PDP Chairman Mu'azu Falls Out With Governor Fayose

The National Chairman of the PDP, Adamu Mu'azu, and Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose took to their Twitter handles on Thursday to tackle each other over the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 presidential election.

Their action came less than three days after President Goodluck Jonathan called on the PDP leaders to stop the blame game over his loss to Muhammadu Buhari and rather reposition the party ahead of 2019.

Fayose had claimed that he has evidence that Mu'azu connived with APC to ensure the defeat of Jonathan at the polls. He went ahead to ask Mu'azu to resign. But angered by the governor's call and claim, the PDP Chairman dared Fayose: 'Provide evidence of the allegations you levelled against him or keep shut.'

Mu'azu said it was the hate campaign which Fayose targeted at Buhari that cost Jonathan the Presidency. While daring Fayose to provide the evidence, he said, "Fayose said he has evidence that I, Mu'azu, worked for the APC. I hope it is not the kind of evidence he once said he had that Buhari was dying."

Mu'azu said he repeatedly warned members of the PDP to run an issue-based campaign but overzealous supporters of Jonathan opted for hate campaign against Buhari. The PDP chairman said, "You will all recall that I warned members of our presidential campaign organisation to stop the hate campaign.

"I challenge Governor Fayose to come out with evidence that shows that I, the national chairman, worked with the APC during the elections." Mu'azu said it was unfortunate that Fayose was the one leading the call for his removal. He recalled how he and other leaders of the party ensured that Fayose became the PDP governorship candidate in Ekiti State last year.

According to him, the same party leaders, including himself, helped Fayose to secure victory against the then Governor Kayode Fayemi on June 21, 2014.

"I, as the national chairman campaigned for Governor Fayose, defended him and was at his inauguration."

'My Husband Is No Longer Giving Me Good Sex'

I have been married for five years and have two boys. I am still the way I was before child-bearing. My shape and slim looks are still intact and many people who don't know still see me as a hot spinster and I always tell the guys that I'm happily married and they should stay off.
But an issue is shaking the foundations of my marriage. My husband has had little or no interest in s*x for about a year. I have tried to find out why he suddenly lost interest in s*x but he is not forthcoming. We have a good relationship apart from this problem but I cannot remain like this for long. I have done all kinds of things to seduce him. I've tried lingerie, backrubs, and romantic dinners, but nothing works. I don't know what else to do. Please help me.

- Blessing from Benin.

Below is Julie Coker's response to Blessing's bedroom trouble.

Dear Blessing,
Every couple goes through periods when one or both partners are too busy or not in the mood. But the sustained lack of interest you mention signals that something is wrong. Some physical conditions can lower libido in men, as can some medications. If you think illness may be a factor, urge your husband to have a complete physical examination.

Stress can also diminish s*xual desire, as can a deep-seated fear of intimacy. An affair can take a spouse's attention away from his partner, too. However, the most common reason men and women avoid love-making is unexpressed anger at their partner. Could your husband be upset about something in your marriage? Does he expect things from you that he doesn't feel he's getting?

Any hostile or negative feelings he has must be recognized and dealt with before you can find pleasure in love-making again. Have a serious talk, but if you can't communicate, I strongly suggest you see a therapist together.

Man Raped At Gunpoint By Three Women Who Also Stole His Semen

A man was kidnapped at gunpoint in South Africa and raped by three women who collected his semen in a cool box before abandoning their victim - and the method is part of a growing trend.

The 33-year-old man gave the women directions when they pulled up in a black BMW. Suddenly, one of the women armed with a gun got out and forced him into the back of the car at gunpoint.
The trio then drove him 500km away and fondled him in the back of the car but he did not become aroused, so they forced him to drink an 'unknown substance' from a bottle to aid him.

They then raped the man repeatedly and collected his semen in plastic bags, placing them in a cooler
box. The man was then kicked out of the car, 500 km away from where they picked him up in the Kwazakhele township, Port Elizabeth, and made off with the stolen sperm.

The exact same method is being used by women in Gauteng, who are also forcing men to drink from a bottle and stealing their semen but no arrests have been made.

Sowetan Live reports that Constable Mncedi Mbombo said:
'As he was busy pointing out the directions, one lady came out and pointed a gun at him and forced him into the car.
'They drove into a thoroughfare 500km away. They parked the car and fondled him to get an erection but his penis could not get erect. They then forced him to drink an unknown substance from a bottle. This got him aroused quickly even though he was still scared and didn't want to have sex.
This is really confusing to us because we have never heard of such a thing before. The man was fully conscious throughout his ordeal and he is still traumatised.'
Police have now opened a rape investigation.
