Ex-Adviser on Food Security to President Olusegun Obasanjo, Prof Ango Abdullahi, yesterday, called on the Federal Government to fight the Niger Delta Avengers before taking on Boko Haram.
Abdullahi, who also blamed politicians for political instability in the country, said the greatest challenge to national security was activities of the Avengers. He made this known during a book launch, titled: “The life and times of Umaru Turakin Bauchi at 2015 and Boko Haram: The charade versus the reality at 2016” in Abuja.
He said: “If we find truly that we cannot peacefully develop this country, the solution is to go our separate ways, why not?
“Even now, we are not happy with the kind of standard of security that is being applied in the country. If you are not going to fight Avengers, you should stop fighting Boko Haram.”
While blaming politicians for the country’s woes, Abdullahi said: “Any government that fails to ensure the well being of its people has the least legitimacy, it is not worth being a government. “Nigeria has not made the kind of progress that was expected of it since its independence after 56 years.
We must take into account that we are responsible for these. “Nigeria has signed so many protocols that are injurious to her, there is need to review some of these protocols.” In her remarks, Dr. Hadiza Wada, who is the author of the books, said there was need for the Federal Government to do more research on Boko Haram crisis.
“Our intelligence needs to concentrate on our neighboring countries, that is where our support should be coming from,” she said.
