Honda Begins Production Of Cars In Nigeria

Honda Motor Company has said it has begun the building of cars in Nigeria by retooling part of its factory that previously made motorcycles. The firm's new chief executive, Takahiro Hachigo, said this at a news conference yesterday in Tokyo.

Hachigo said the company, which began production this month, planned to produce 1,000 of its Accord Sedans annually at the plant.

Emmanuel Emenike Denies Converting To Islam, Says I’m Very Much A Christian

The Fenerbahce striker, Emmanuel Emenike is upset with his coach especially for 'leaking' his personal information to the media. According to the striker, he was missing on Saturday morning when others ate breakfast and when his coach asked him why he was not there to join others, he simply said he was fasting. Emenike is upset that his coach mistook his fasting for being a Muslim one and wondered why he had to give the press a wrong perception of his fast. He however disclosed to the press today that though he missed his breakfast at the club because he was fasting, what he observed was a Christian fast, and not the on-going Muslim fast. What he said;

"The report that I am now a Muslim is absolute rubbish and false. I want the source of the news to re-address it. I have no reason to convert to Islam even though I have lots of Muslim friends. Is there any big deal observing fasting during the (Muslim) fasting period?" he asked rhetorically.

"I am very disappointed seeing the news going viral because it is something I told my coach in our conversation when he asked me a question and never said I have become a Muslim. Fasting is not what everybody should know that you are doing and it's very sad seeing this in the media."

"I am Catholic, a strong one for that matter, and I came from Christian home. I don't discriminate against anybody and I believe we are all equal in the presence of God, so what is the big deal in fasting? Does he know how many time I fast to get closer to God before the fasting periods? It's really sad because I don't see it as a big deal," he told AfricanFootball.com.

Lagos State Govt Urges Runaway Dad Of Twins To Return

Lagos State  Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat  Oluranti Adebule, yesterday hosted Mrs. Ruth Uche and her last set of twins, who were abandoned by her husband, Mr. Benjamin Uche. And at the meeting, she advised the run-away husband to come forward and take up the responsibility of caring for his family, admonishing him to be appreciative of the divine blessings that have come his way through the children.

Mrs. Uche's visit to the deputy governor's office is a follow-up to the directive of Governor
Akinwunmi Ambode, who directed that the woman and her children be rehabilitated and assisted by all relevant government agencies to ensure they are in good condition.

Speaking while hosting the woman, the deputy governor sympathized with her over the traumatic experience of trying to raise six children following the disappearance of her husband, assuring that the government  will ensure the children's well-being.

"As a woman and a mother, I can only imagine what you have gone through managing six children, it must have been energy sapping and depressing, but I salute your courage and I want to assure you that this government will not abandon you, we will stand by you and ensure that you are assisted to get back to a normal life," Adebule said.

She thanked the woman for coming forward to seek help instead of abandoning the children, which some other people would have done, noting that if she had dumped them. It would still have been the lot of government to  see to their well-being but her determination to raise her children further encouraged the government to offer the necessary assistance.

The Deputy Governor added that the governor had approved the release of some amount of money, which will be paid into an account and part of it used to attend to some of the immediate needs of the children and their mother, adding that officials from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation have been directed to provide the necessary logistics support to her.

In her reaction to the government's gesture, Mrs. Uche thanked the administration for  supporting her, noting that the love shown to her and her children could only have come from a government that truly cares about the well being of its people.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of the token from the government to Mrs. Uche.

Princess Charlotte Of Cambridge Christening Attended By Her Parents, Prince George, The Queen And Other Members Of The Royal Family

Princess Charlotte, the two-month-old daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton and the fourth in line to the British throne, was christened on Sunday in England.

The baby was joined by her parents, brother Prince George, who is almost 2, great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, grandparents Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Michael and Carole Middleton and the Duchess of Cambridge's siblings Pippa Middleton and James Middleton. Charlotte had five godparents at the ceremony.

The christening took place in St. Mary Magdalene Church, a 16th-century chapel long frequented by the royal family, in Sandringham, Norfolk. William's late mother Princess Diana was christened there in 1961. Water from the River Jordan was used during the baptism, as it was during George's 2013 christening, which took place in London.

Kate and William were photographed arriving with George and Charlotte, with the little boy holding his dad's hand and the baby being pushed in a carriage by her mother. The Millson pram is the same one the queen used for her two youngest children, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a white Alexander Mcqueen dress coat, a matching Jane Taylor hat and nude pumps, the outlet said. William sported a navy suit, blue shirt and plum tie.

George wore a white, short sleeve shirt with a rounded collar and red markings, paired with a pair of red shorts, white socks and black shoes - an almost identical outfit to one worn by his father when he went to visit his brother Prince Harry hours after his birth in 1984. He had also missed Charlotte's birth on May 2, as he was in Australia at the time.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, baptized Charlotte. He had also carried out George's baptism.

Charlotte was baptized in her brother's hand-me-downs; A handmade replica of a more than 170-year-old lace and satin royal christening gown, made by Angela Kelly, dressmaker to the queen.

Dramatic Moment 10-Month-Old Baby Floated Out To The Sea After Her Family Forgot She Was In The Water

Incredible pictures have emerged of a baby being rescued from the open ocean after she floated a kilometre out to sea when her parents forgot they left her in the water.

According to DailyMail, the Turkish Coastguard was called into action today after beachgoers and the child's parents realised in horror that strong winds and ocean currents were swiftly pulling her towards Greece.

Kept alive only because she was sitting inside a child's flotation device, 10-month-old Melda Ilgin was pulled from the ocean when rescuers dived into the water to catch her.
 

The ordeal began when the Ilgin family took a trip to the beach near the town of Kucukkuyu, in Turkey's south west coast, BGN News reported. Sitting her in a child's flotation device, they left her in the water while they relaxed.

However, strong northerly winds sent her offshore and sailing quickly south towards the Greek island of Lesbos. Horrified beachgoers then realised the gravity of the situation and after several attempts to rescue her themselves, called the coastguard.

Travelling almost a kilometre offshore, rescuers dived into the water and pulled her from the sea.
She was soon reunited with her parents, who quickly ushered her from the scene as a gathered crowd looked on in bewilderment.

Robot Kills Worker At Volkswagen Auto Plant In Germany

A robot has killed a contractor at one of Volkswagen's production plants in Germany, the automaker has said.

The man died on Monday at the plant in Baunatal, about 100km (62 miles) north of Frankfurt, VW spokesman Heiko Hillwig said.
The 22-year-old was part of a team that was setting up the stationary robot when it grabbed and crushed him against a metal plate, Hillwig said.

He said initial conclusions indicate that human error was to blame, rather than a problem with the robot, which can be programmed to perform various tasks in the assembly process.

He said it normally operates within a confined area at the plant, grabbing auto parts and manipulating them.
Another contractor was present when the incident occurred, but was not harmed, Hillwig said. He declined to give any more details about the case, citing an ongoing investigation.

German news agency DPA reported that prosecutors were considering whether to bring charges, and if so, against whom.
