Tragedy As 5-Year-Old Girl Fatally Shoots Herself With Her Grandma’s Gun

Tragedy As 5-Year-Old Girl Fatally Shoots Herself With Her Grandma’s Gun

Mariah Davis

The rate at which kids shoot themselves is quite alarming. Guns are accessible in the US and worse still is the gun owners DO NOT secure these weapons from their kids. I’m saying this because there has been another tragedy this time in Detroit with a 5 year-old girl, Mariah Davis, fatally shooting herself with her grandma’s gun.

It’s understood that Mariah was visiting her grandparents along with her other two siblings and while they were playing, she discovered the gun under her grandparents’ pillow. Meanwhile, her grandmother was downstairs cooking and her grandfather was in another room when the deceased brought the gun in the room with her siblings to play with. Tragically, Mariah shot herself in the neck and died instantly.

According to Cmdr. Jacqueline Pritchett of the Detroit police, “The gun was not in a gun box, it was not locked, it was just lying up under the pillow”.

The sad part about this is that someone has to be held accountable for Mariah’s death and it will be a grieving member of the family most likely.

Even investigators attest to this.

“The adult is held responsible so that’s a double tragedy,” psychiatrist Gerald Sheiner said. “A child is hurt and the gun owner is held responsible and punished after they have lost a child.”

Revealed: Britain’s £3 Billion Aid To The ‘World’s Ten Most Corrupt Countries Since 2010’

Britain’s £3 Billion Aid To The ‘World’s Ten Most Corrupt Countries Since 2010’

It’s being said that Britain has given almost £3billion in aid to the world’s most corrupt countries since 2010. It’s understood that £2.7billion has been handed to the world’s ten most corrupt countries which according to reports, includes Nigeria and Afghanistan.

British Prime Minister David Cameron was caught on camera describing Nigeria and Afghanistan as being ‘fantastically corrupt’.

The PM had been speaking ahead of today’s anti-corruption summit with more than 40 countries to be represented in London for talks on tackling global corruption.

Cameron has been accused of ‘encouraging’ endemic corruption in Nigeria by allowing cash creamed off government projects to be pumped into British banks, luxury homes, car dealerships and private schools.

Nigerian leaders responded by demanding Cameron return billions of pounds stolen by crooked officials and laundered in Britain with ‘no questions asked’. It’s understood that the two states, whose presidents will attend today’s summit, receive £435million a year from British taxpayers.

President Buhari was asked about Cameron’s comments as he attended the start of the conference, he said: ‘I am not going to demand any apology from anybody. What I am demanding is the return of the assets.’

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari

According to reports, about 40 civil groups in Nigeria sent a letter to Cameron ahead of the conference warning that efforts to fight corruption within Nigeria were undermined by the failure to tackle laundering in the UK. Cameron was also accused by Nigerian senator Dino Melaye of being ‘deeply offensive’ and demanded a crackdown on the UK’s role as a ‘safe haven’ to launder stolen cash. Melaye told Daily Mail:

‘We want an apology from Mr Cameron. His reckless and demeaning statement has insulted the integrity of our country.

‘It allows people to steal from our economy then warehouse it in the United Kingdom. Money is also put into luxury homes and other forms, with no questions asked.’

Senator Melaye also added that the amount of stolen cash laundered in the UK ‘runs to billions of pounds’.

The chairman of Nigeria’s senate committee on anti-corruption, Chukwuka Utazi, said: ‘As long as the criminals steal and Britain is ready to take the proceeds it will continue.’

It’s understood that Cameron will today call for a ‘truly global solution’ to the ‘evil of corruption’.

Increase in PMS price crashes naira to N345/$1

Increase in PMS price crashes naira to N345/$1

The Nigerian naira suffered a setback on Thursday, crashing to N345 against the dollar, following the federal government’s decision to liberalise sales of petrol.

The naira also exchanged at 475 to pounds less than 24 hours after the announcement was made by Ibe Kachikwu, minister of state for petroleum.

A bureau de change operator in Lagos where the dollar closed at N345 to the naira, told TheCable that many sellers were stranded.

“If you want to buy, we don’t have to sell, but if you want to sell, we can discuss,” Isiaka Mohammed, a trader, told TheCable in Lagos.

“We sold for 345 today, but many of us don’t have again to sell. If you want to buy now, you would not see to buy,” he said.

In Abuja, an operator said trading at the parallel market closed at the rate of 345 to the dollar, as against 322 to the dollar early Wednesday when the new pump price had not been introduced.

“We don’t understand how this is going, we closed market at N340 to the dollar, while pounds sold at 475,” he said.

The situation was the same in Kano. An operator in the state, said the dollar was selling for 325 in the afternoon, but is currently trading around 330.

With prevailing realities, the nation may be forced to devalue the naira, as round tripping is likely to persist in the days ahead.

Oil industry insiders had initially told TheCable that they would now have to source foreign exchange for importation of petrol from the parallel market, as the Central Bank emphasised lack of forex.

“All oil marketers will be allowed to import PMS on the basis of forex procured from secondary sources and accordingly PPPRA template will reflect this in the pricing of the product,” a source said.

Plateau recruits 4,850 adhoc teachers

Plateau recruits 4,850 adhoc teachers

The Plateau Government has approved the recruitment of 4, 850 ad hoc teachers as part of efforts to address the acute shortage of teachers in the state.

Prof. Mathew Sule, the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Jos.

He said that the move was to address staffing deficit that had affected the quality of education in the state.

“Staffing deficit in public primary schools in Plateau has been a major concern and priority to the administration of Governor Lalong.

‘’The governor has approved the recruitment of 4, 850 ad hoc teachers for primary schools and we expect them in the classes very soon,” he said.

The official said that government would hold an orientation programme for the ad hoc teachers before posting them to their various stations.

He said that 403 teachers, who have completed the Federal Teachers Training Scheme, have also been engaged to bridge the shortage of manpower in public schools.

“The 403 teachers from the programme of 2013-2014 have been engaged under the auspices of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

“The programme has been running for more than a decade with the objective of recruiting these teachers at the end of their two years training, and this is the first time teachers will be absorbed in the state under the scheme.

“We have notified those teachers that they would soon be called upon to commence work,’’ he added.

Sule said that the government had accorded top priority to payment of teachers, “despite the financial difficulties in paying other civil servants”.

He said that the biometric exercise for teachers was 95 per cent completed, and expressed confidence that the entire exercise would be completed by the end of May. (NAN)

Fuel subsidy removal: FG should review minimum wage – Gbajabiamila

Fuel subsidy removal: FG should review minimum wage – Gbajabiamila

Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila

Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has called for a review of the minimum wage.

He made the call following the deregulation of the petroleum downstream sector, which skyrocketed the pump price of fuel to N145 per litre.

Gbajabiamila, who had fought relentlessly against efforts by past governments to remove petroleum subsidy, said though it was necessary to deregulate the petroleum sector to shield the country from economic problems, it was also necessary to raise the minimum wage in order to meet the rising cost of living in the country.

He said, “There has to be a serious review of the minimum wage if you are going to increase the pump price of petrol because we all know everything rests on that.

“Prices are going to skyrocket, from school fees to food, to transportation, to school uniforms and to books. Everything is going to go up because of mono economy. If we are going to do that, it is incumbent upon the government to take seriously the demands of labour.

“Minimum wage needs to be reviewed; we cannot increase the cost of living and keep salaries where it is, they go hand in hand.”

Gbajabiamila gave a vivid account of what transpired at the stakeholders’ meeting at the Villa on Wednesday.

He said: “I was at the stakeholders; meeting with the Vice President Wednesday and other stakeholders before the decision was made.

“The story that was painted, the details, the breakdown and the facts were scary. From what I read and what I saw, if we had continued that way we may not even have a country in two months time.

“Salaries would not have been paid by any state. Faced with that, it puts me in a very difficult situation and serious dilemma as to which way to go. I have always on one hand fought against the removal of fuel subsidy but now, I am confronted with very scary details as to what will happen if they don’t deregulate.

“The consequences will be very bad for me and you, so it is like being caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.”

Gbajabiamila, however, said the Federal Government ought to have established refineries before removing the subsidy.

“I believe that if God has given you natural product, the least we should do is to allow the people to benefit from that kind of product,” he said, adding that subsidy had dented the image of the country.

“If subsidy is being abused, all we need to do is to block the holes of abuse and not to punish the whole of Nigerians for the abuse of a few people.

“But having said that, I have always argued, why don’t you build a refinery first if at all you have to remove the subsidy. It is only in Nigeria that subsidy is given a bad name.

“There is subsidy all over the world, in America agriculture is subsidized and in UK transportation is subsidized. It is only in Nigeria that they say subsidy is bad. So, why is it not bad in other countries? That’s what we need to look at.”

Caitlyn Jenner to De-transition Back to Man After Experiencing 'S*x Change Regret?'

Caitlyn Jenner to De-transition Back to Man After Experiencing 'S*x Change Regret?

L-R: Bruce Jenner & Caithlyn Jenner

Caitlyn Jenner, who announced her transition from a man to a woman last year, has considered de-transitioning, the author of a new book about the Kardashian family has exclusively revealed.

There were multiple online reports that popular transgender and reality TV star, Caitlyn Jenner wants to transition back to a male after suffering from s*x change regret.

Ian Halperin, the author of 'Kardashian Dynasty: The Controversial Rise of America’s Royal Family', first made the claims after speaking with multiple sources, that Caithlyn Jenner had been experiencing 'sex change regret.'

Halperin told The Wrap that one of Jenner's longtime friend told him her detransition could happen in the next few years.

'It hasn’t been easy for Caitlyn, it’s been very hard. She’s thrilled she has raised awareness about how transgender people have long been discriminated against but I think there’s a chance she’ll detransition in the next couple years. I don’t think it would surprise anybody in her inner circle.

'It has been much harder than she anticipated. My heart goes out to her and I know her true friends will be there to support her on whatever path she chooses,' Halperin said Jenner's longtime friend told him.

Halperin is also claiming that multiple sources have told him Jenner is also thinking about de-transitioning because she is still attracted to woman.

However, a representative for Jenner denied the claims, saying that Halperin’s assertion is the “dumbest statement of the day.”

“It hasn’t been easy for Caitlyn, it’s been very hard,” the friend said, according to Halperin.

“She’s thrilled she has raised awareness about how transgender people have long been discriminated against but I think there’s a chance she’ll de-transition in the next couple years. I don’t think it would surprise anybody in her inner circle. It has been much harder than she anticipated. My heart goes out to her and I know her true friends will be there to support her on whatever path she chooses.”

According to Halperin, multiple sources close to the Kardashian family told him that Jenner might revert back because she retains her interest in females.

It can be recalled that Caithlyn publicly revealed she was transitioning in a 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer last year, telling the veteran newscaster; 'For all intents and purposes, I am a woman.'

She went on to say in that interview; 'My brain is much more female than it is male. That's what my soul is. Bruce lives a lie. She is not a lie. I can't do it anymore.'

It is Insensitive, Illegal and Immoral - Femi Falana Reacts to Hike in Fuel Price

It is Insensitive, Illegal and Immoral - Femi Falana Reacts to Hike in Fuel Price

Femi Falana

Highly respected Human Rights Lawyer, Femi Falana has spoken out about the new hike in fuel price even as Nigerians groan about it.

Mr Femi Falana, SAN, has declared that the new fuel price regime from the Federal Government is illegal and lacks statutory power because the body, empowers to take such decision is yet to be constituted by the government.

According to him, the decision by the government was “immoral and insensitivity of the effect of fuel price increase on the people of Nigeria.”

He therefore urged the government to revert to the old pump price.

According to Vanguard, Falana made his arguement in a recent statement. He said that the increment was contrary to the interest and yearning of Nigerians for the further reduction of the fuel price.

He noted that the present administration acted contrary to its promises not to remove subsidy in order to inflict undue pains on Nigerians.

Beside, he said, the decision was wrong since the sole body statutorily responsible for fixing fuel price is not yet constituted, adding, the “unilateral decision of the Executive Secretary of the body to fix the pump price at N145 per litre is ultra vires and illegal in every material particular.”

He argued that since the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) empowered to recommend the price of petroleum products has not been reconstituted, such decision was wrong.

He added that: “In view of the illegality, insensitivity and immorality of the price increase the federal government should cancel it, revert to the status quo and consult widely with all relevant stakeholders in the society.”

Falana wondered why the increment when after the Directorate of Petroleum Resources (DPR) recently invited fresh bids for the setting up modular refineries, which resulted to licensing of 22 modular refineries “with combined capacities to refine 1.429 million barrels of crude oil per day. If the policy is genuinely pursued the construction of the refineries ought to be completed within the 9-12 months.

“If such refineries are established in the country the importation of fuel and the fraud associated with it will stop. In the interim, instead of importing oil from Europe and the United States the NNPC should refine crude oil for domestic consumption in neighbouring countries which have functional refineries. After all, Nigeria refines 60,000 barrels of crude oil per day in Cote d’ivoire which is not an oil producing nation, " he said.

He further argued that “If subsidy had been removed over a month ago and the country has been saving $2 billion (from fuel importation and subsidy removal) while the refineries are now working at full capacity Dr. Kachukwu should tell Nigerians the justification for the new removal of fuel subsidy announced by him yesterday.

“The cost elements that make up the N145 are provocative. If the total landing cost of a litre and other charges are fixed at N138 what is the basis of fixing the price at N145? For goodness sake, why should motorists be made to pay NPA/NIMASA charges, within and without storage/ bridging charges etc?”

He therefore submitted that the decision will have virile effect on the people and the economic.

He noted that increasing the price without any public debate or consultation with relevant stakeholders whatsoever the federal government took the Nigerian people by surprise.

Unbelievable! Secondary School Students Busted Having Group S*x in a Rented House (Photos)

Secondary School Students Busted Having Group S*x in a Rented House

The secondary school students being caned by the angry residents and youths

Some secondary school students have shocked residents after they were caught engaging in s*x orgy after hiding in a rented apartment.

A real drama unfolded on Tuesday at Kipkorgot Estate on the outskirts of Eldoret after five secondary school students were allegedly caught having group s*x.

According to Standard Kenya, the four boys and a girl from different schools in Nandi, Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo Marakwet counties, Kenya are reported to have been living together since schools opened for second term.

When the girl's school administrator, Kapsoya Assistant Chief Fiona Bartocho heard the the story, he went to check on them.

However, she got the shock of her life as she found the teenagers engaging in s*x. The administrator said they have informed the respective schools about the incident.
"We are investigating to find out if they have been abusing alcohol and other substances. My appeal to parents is to be keen about the behaviour of their children to prevent such acts," she said.

As a result, angry residents at the scene used cane to beat the students mercilessly. It was revealed that the students have been having s*x in one of the rented rooms which was rented by one of the student's parents for the son. They have been arrested.

Andrew Keitany, the landlord, explained that one of the boys' mother requested him to accommodate her son three months ago.

"Since I am a driver I usually leave for work early and arrive late. Thus I am not able to know who comes into the compound," he said.

The angry youths did not spare the landlord as they caned him along with the students for harbouring such evil. The landlord and the students were taken to Naiberi Police Station.

Residents, who informed the law enforcers, claimed the children have also been abusing drugs. Caroline Kibet, a local, said it was unfortunate that the children's parents thought that their children were busy in school while instead, they were engaging in premarital s*x.
"Parents should occasionally visit schools to check on the children's welfare because this is unacceptable," she advised.

Kipkorgot Estate Welfare Chairman Isaac Kipkorir urged parents to always monitor their kids to stop them from straying.

"We are lost for words because after contacting the children's parents, they responded that their children were all in school. This is a clear indication that there is no close monitoring of children," said Mr Kipkorir.
