EFCC Launches Manhunt for Fayose's Associate Over the Receipt of N1.2bn

EFCC Launches Manhunt for Fayose's Associate Over the Receipt of N1.2bn

Governor Ayo Fayose

An associate of Ayodele Fayose is currently on the radar of the EFCC for his involvement in the governor's debacle with Zenith Bank in respect to the distribution of slush funds.

The Economic and Finanacial Crimes Commission has launched a manhunt for Abiodun Agbele, an associate of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, Punch reports.

According to the EFCC, Agbele received N1, 219,490,000 from Senator Musiliu Obanikoro on behalf of Fayose. The money was said to have been flown to the Akure Airport and then conveyed to Zenith Bank.

According to five Zenith Bank deposit slips made available to our correspondent, Agbele made deposits of over N900m into his personal accounts and that of Fayose.

On June 26, 2014, Agbele made a deposit of N137m into a Zenith Bank account with account number 1003126654 belonging to Ayodele Fayose with teller number 0556814.

On June 17, 2014, Agbele also made a deposit of N100m into account number 1010170969 belonging to Spotless Investment Limited, a company owned by Fayose and his wife, Feyisetan.

On June 18, 2014, Agbele made another deposit of N219,490,000 into the account of De Privateer Limited with account number 1013835889. The company allegedly belongs to Agbele. On June 19, 2014, he also made a deposit of N300m into the same account while a third deposit of N200m was made into the same account on June 23, 2014.

The EFCC said, “Agbele is an associate of Fayose. We are currently looking for him because he has a lot of explanations to make. He held some of the money in trust for Fayose.”

In his reaction, Fayose admitted that Agbele was a trusted friend who paid money into his account. He, however, maintained that the money came from the management of Zenith Bank and private donations.

He said, “The management of Zenith Bank, which mainly funded my election, called me to a meeting where I was assured that the fund would be provided for my election.  I was asked to nominate a trusted ally to be related with and I nominated Mr. Abiodun Agbele.

“All the payments into Abiodun Agbele’s account domiciled in Zenith Bank were directly from Zenith Bank. In actual fact, the account was opened by Zenith Bank hurriedly at that time and Abiodun Agbele’s identity card, which ought to have been collected before the account was opened, was only collected last week in the bank’s desperation to perfect the account obviously after submitting to the intimidation and harassment of the EFCC.

“Most of the funds posted into Agbele’s account were through the Ibadan, Akure and Lagos branches of the Zenith Bank and, sometimes, they brought cash.”

Agbele’s account with Zenith Bank has since been frozen by the EFCC as well as those of Fayose and his company.

Femi Fani-Kayode with EFCC Officials

An official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been said to have attacked Fani-Kayode who is still in detention.

Femi Fani-Kayode was reportedly attacked at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's facility.

According to sources at the commission, Fani-Kayode was attacked alongside other detainees by an EFCC operative, Suleiman Kabiru on Saturday, June 26.

The source confirmed that Kabiru has constantly harassed detainees who engage in saying prayers while being held at the commission’s facility.

“Matters came to a head on Saturday when, without any provocation, Suleiman Kabiru, a Muslim from Kebbi state charged at Fani-Kayode injuring him in the process,” the source said.

The source said Kabiru was visibly angry and asked him (Fani-Kayode) why he would not obey his instructions.

He however revealed that Kabiru was stopped from inflicting more harm on the former minister through intervention from other officials of the commission.

As at the time of filing this report, the EFCC’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren is yet to respond to NAIJ.com’s inquiry on the assault.
However, the PDP New Media Director Adeyanju has confirmed it.

Doctor mistakenly chopped off man’s testicle and threw it in bin

Dr Marwan Farouk

A surgeon was struck off after he mistakenly lopped off a man’s testicle and tried to cover it up – by telling him it was very small.

Dr Marwan Farouk was supposed to repair a hernia and remove a cyst from his patient at the private BMI Chiltern Hospital in Buckinghamshire in April 2014.

Doctor mistakenly chopped off man’s testicle and threw it in bin

But instead, he removed the entire right testicle and told staff to chuck it away – before refusing to tell the patient.

The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service ruled on Wednesday that Farouk had been misleading or dishonest.

He told theatre staff to “chuck” the specimen or words to that effect before discarding it in the sharps bin.

Then, during a post-operative consultation with the unnamed patient on April 30, 2014, he covered his tracks by telling him: “You have a small right testicle but it won’t give you any problems.”

Farouk admitted during the hearing that he had removed the testicle.

The ruling told him: “As an experienced surgeon, even on a cursory examination, you must have recognised the specimen for what it was.

ALERT: Don’t Download WhatsApp Gold, It’s A Dangerous Virus [SEE]

ALERT: Don’t Download WhatsApp Gold, It’s A Dangerous Virus [SEE]

Credulous WhatsApp users are being tricked into downloading WhatsApp Gold, an apparently ‘exclusive’ version of the app which actually infects mobiles with malware.

A number of the app’s users have reported receiving messages urging them to sign up for the service via the WhatsApp Gold website, which is linked in the message.

The app’s extra features (which the scammers claim have only previously been available to top celebrities) include the ability to send hundreds of pictures at once, new emojis, video calling, enhanced security features and more customisation options.

Naturally, the whole thing is nonsense. Downloading the program from the website will simply infect your phone with malware, possibly allowing cybercriminals to steal your data or track your movements and activity.

There’s been a spate of WhatsApp Gold messages recently, but the scam has existed in different forms for a while, sometimes under the name ‘WhatsApp Plus’.

WhatsApp will actually ban users if it detects this unauthorised software on their phones, and says in the FAQ section of its website: “WhatsApp Plus is an application that was not developed by WhatsApp, nor is it authorised by WhatsApp.”

“The developers of WhatsApp Plus have no relationship to WhatsApp, and we do not support WhatsApp Plus.”

The company warns users that the scam software can pass private information “to third parties without your knowledge or authorisation.”

It advises users to immediately uninstall the unauthorised app, and forces them to wait 24 hours before they can use the real WhatsApp again.

In some ways, the con is similar to the Apple ID scam which hit iPhone users last month. By preying on technological illiteracy, the scammers use worrying or enticing pitches to get people to download malware, or hand over their personal information.

As usual, the best way to avoid the WhatsApp Gold scam is to ignore and delete any messages which mention it.

The only apps you download should come from the Google Play Store or the App Store, and if you’re in doubt about a too-good-to-be-true new app, you shouldn’t install it.

AWWW!!! Isaac Fayose Writes Touching Letter to His Brother, Ayo Fayose; ‘The God of 2006 is Not Dead’

Fayose & Brother Isaac

This is the open letter Isaac Fayose, brother to Ekiti State governor allegedly wrote to him reminding him that the God of 2006 is not dead and would fight for him

Read the emotional letter below

Dear Brother/Father,

I am writing you this letter to encourage, strengthen and remind you of this verse of the Holy Bible that says, “If God be with us, who can be against us?” As you read this letter, I pray it gives you strength and courage. I want you to know that I am with you at this time of trouble and that this turbulence is a stepping stone to a higher level in life for you.

Travelling through time, a decade ago, at this exact date, I can remember a time like this, When it was a period of turbulence for a great man I have always looked up to and admired. A man of courage, with strength as an eagle, bold as a lion, a man of great dignity and integrity.

I remember June 24, 2006, exactly 10 years today. You were falsely accused of Poultry Project Fund mismanagement and murder. You left the government house on October 16, 2006.

But, God was with you. He confused your adversaries and vindicated you from the hands of vicious and political extremists.

This same God is not dead and he is still there for you. After 8 years, which connotes the year of Ascension, God gave you the staff and placed you on that same mantle on the same date you left the government House (October 16, 2014) against all odds.

Yet again! Another turbulence. I want “YOU” to know that God of little David that killed Goliath is still with “US”. Yes! Things might seem a little rough now, but remember your name “PETER” and what it stands for…

You shall overcome with “VICTORY” as always. This battle shall pass in no time. The enemies you see now, you shall see them no more and at the end, we shall return all Glory to God.

When God is about to take you to a greater level, everything goes crazy. People will disappoint you. Friends go against you, and then you will be left all alone. In that very moment, God will be your only source and he alone will take the glory.

Your enemies tried but could not stand the power you carry. You are far stronger than they are and this is why they are petrified at the rumbling of your voice. ‘The wicked flee when no one is pursuing, but the righteous are bold as a Lion’ – Proverbs 28:1.

Think about it, “If God be with us, who can be against us?” Think about how empowering that is! Let that power infuse you, let it pour liquid steel through your spine. You have got the power, you can fight, and you will win.

Though, I am not there with you, you are always on my mind and I remember you in my prayers at all times. You can beat this. I know it, I see the warrior within you. You are a fighter.

God will continuously be with you and take care of you.

I love you, brother.

Your Brother and Son,

Isaac Fayose

Nigerian Scientist Maduike Ezeibe Produces Drug That Cures HIV, 3 Patients Cured Of HIV In Abuja

With the development of Antiretroviral Drug- Aluminium Magnesium Silicate (AMS), by Maduike Ezeibe, Professor of Veterinary Medicine, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU) Abia State, People living with HIV/AIDs will now have the cause to smile again.
Science Editor, STANLEY CHIBUIHEM AMALAHA, in an interview with the don in the university, reports

Professor Maduike Ezeibe, a renowned Nigerian scientist and Head, Department of Veterinary Medicine, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria has found what could be a novel treatment for Human immunedeficiency virus (HIV) infections infection that may slash the current cost of treatment.

Ezeibe, after 19years of intensive research has been able to show that synthetic Aluminum- Magnesium Silicate (AMS) has antiretroviral effects that could lay a perfect track for affordable and effective therapy for HIV.

Nigerian Professor Maduike Ezeibe Produces Drug That Cures HIV, 3 Patients Cured Of HIV In Abuja

Results of his work titled ‘Assessment of Antiretroviral Effects of a Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate’ published in the British Journal of Medicine & Medical Research (BJMMR 4(8): 1672-1679, 2014) and featured on SCIENCEDOMAIN international (www.sciencedomain.org), shows a significant reduction in the titres of the virus when HIV positive plasma was incubated with AMS.

Chemistry of the action

Ezeibe said this could provide an ultimate cure for the virus that has defiled so many scientific efforts to curtail it in the past. He reacted Aluminium Silicate with Magnesium Silicate to obtain the synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate devoid of impurities as show in the chemical equation below

A14 (SiO4)3+3Mg2SiO4. – –2Al2 Mg3(SiO4)3

Giving further details on AMS, the distinguished don said, “Molecules of Aluminum– Magnesium Silicate have platelets that possess both negative and positive electrical charges on their surfaces and their edges. HIV on the other hand is negatively charged. So the simple scientific understanding that opposite charges attracts ensures that the HIV virus binds to the AMS and is discharged from the body alongside.”

It was concluded that the AMS has antiretroviral effects and could be an inexpensive antiretroviral therapy for regular treatment to reduce high rate of HIV infection among low income groups because the two essential minerals – Aluminum Silicate (kaolin) and Magnesium Silicate, used in the production of the therapy, have large deposits in Umuahia and other parts of Abia State. This, he said, would make the therapy cheaper and more affordable than the old anti-retroviral drug.

He added that the therapy would take an average of two to three months or more to cure HIV/AIDS patient depending on the viral load in the patient.

Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU)

Following directives from the Vice Chancellor of MOUAU, to the Medical Director of the University to verify Ezeibe’s claim, a team from the University went into collaboration with the Basic Health Clinic Abuja for an Independent Clinical trial of AMS. It was discovered that after Eight months of administration of AMS to HIV patients, three out of the 10 HIV patients, are now HIV negative.

Two more would recover this month (June) after nine months of treatment with regard to reduction in their viral load; while the remaining five patients are expected to be cured next month July.

Looting: We‘ll soon go after banks— EFCC chair Magu

Looting: We‘ll soon go after banks— EFCC chair Magu

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman Ibrahim Magu vowed yesterday  that the agency would  go after banks being used for the looting of the nation’s treasury and money laundering.

He asked the  Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stop private banking in the country and pledged the determination of his team to give corruption a brutal fight.

Magu was reported by the agency’s in-house magazine, Alert, as telling  Channels Television in an interview that the era was gone when treasury looters kept their money under the guise of private banking.

He said  there was no more hiding place for banks to be  used by corrupt public officials and fraudsters.

He said: “We are not only going after the personnel of banks, we are also going after the banks. What happens is that when a staff of the bank is involved in such activities, what the bank does is to take the person out of the system through dismissal.

“But now, we are going to go after the banks and the personnel used to perpetrate the fraud. It takes two to tango. In fact, very soon, you will see us going after the managing directors of the banks.

“We don’t care what happens because the right thing has to be done because they have given a lot of room for money laundering activities to thrive. They were used to hide all the stolen money.”

On private banking, he said the EFCC has advised the CBN to stop it in all banks.

“We had a discussion with the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, and I insisted that this so-called private banking should be stopped. It is illegal; it is wrong.”

On repatriation of stolen funds, the EFCC chairman said: “Of course, we are working with all the law enforcement agencies- the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the NCA, the Swiss Police and the Italians as well and many other people.

“There are requirements you must enter- the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) – with other countries. We are following the money and we will get them back very soon. But it has to be done within the law.

“There are procedures and they are really tedious. But there is an improvement because these countries are willing to issue warrant; they are willing to restrain any account we point  out. They are willing to also release the property we have traced to their countries. We are also helping them at this end.

“We are working with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and many countries are now ready to key in because they realize that fighting corruption is a very serious issue.”

Magu, who admitted that corruption has been fighting back at him, said he would fight the monster to the end with his team.

“Corruption is fighting back and some of the fighting back is coming from government officials. It is very serious, but I have fought corruption and corruption fought back. I am still fighting corruption.

“If it is my portion to lead the corruption fight particularly under President Muhammadu Buhari. I am fulfilled. We are ready to fight to the end. Somebody has to do it and I am happy we are making tremendous progress.”

Responding to a question, he said there is no sacred cow in the fight against corruption.

He said corrupt suspects will be arrested and prosecuted irrespective of political parties they belong to.

He said: “There is no sacred cow as far as this fight against corruption is concerned. We will go after anybody who has committed an offence. We will collect the money back so that it will go back to the treasury so that it can be used for the original purposes.

“I don’t care whether you are black or white or you come from Party A or Party B; the moment it can be established that you have stolen from the public treasury, we will go after you.

“Even right here (in EFCC), if we discover that you are corrupt, we will kick you out. And we are already doing that. So, we don’t go after innocent people. We are going after the thieves of state resources.”

On his reaction to President Muhammadu Buhari’s concurrence in London that Nigerians are fantastically corrupt, Magu said: “I won’t go beyond the reactions of Mr. President.”

He however said that London is the capital of money laundering.

He added: “I think it was most appropriate and you cannot shy away from being called corrupt because corruption has gone deep. The President’s reaction is ‘whatever it is, give me back what has been taken from us.’

“Of course, London is the capital of money laundering. Most of the stolen monies are hidden there either by way of property, banks or physical cash.

“I have an advantage of leading the EFCC now because what you need most when you are fighting corruption is the political will of the leadership.

“You will agree with me that Mr. President is not pretending about fighting corruption. You can see that it is in his blood. So, we are so lucky to have somebody who is committed, who supports us, who does not interfere with what we are doing and I mean that.

“It is good; you can see how we are moving. It is unprecedented.”

Regarding plea bargain, he said it is not a bad idea depending on the cooperation of accused persons who have stolen public funds.

He said: “I know plea bargain has a lot of issues, but if it is handled properly, it is not bad. If you happen to cooperate and you don’t give us too much problem and we sit down and look at what has been recovered from you, we can agree to entertain plea bargain.”

Magu insisted that the EFCC does not detain suspects illegally.

He said those who had met bail conditions were always allowed to go by the anti-graft commission.

“Nobody that has met the bail conditions is kept in the cell. We don’t do that. Honestly, it does not happen here. If we have any reason to keep somebody beyond the time allowed by law, we go to the court and obtain a remand warrant.

“But sometimes, when you arrest the suspect, on disclosure, you will get additional information from them. For instance, somebody who has stolen state funds to the time of $88m, you do not expect me to let him go like that.

“It is when you keep them that some of them will oblige and return the money and it is very important for us to get the money back.”
