I don’t want your blood money – Immigration boss tells senior officers

Newly appointed Comptroller-General, C-G, of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Muhammad Babandede has told Zonal Coordinators and Comptrollers of the Service that he does not want their “blood money”, which he defined as ‘returns’ from “organized crime law enforcement.”

He stated this yesterday at the maiden briefing of comptrollers and other senior officers at the NIS headquarters in Abuja where the C-G unveiled his vision and agenda for the Service. Noting that indiscipline and corruption have become the order of the day, he described himself as a missionary for the realization of greatness for the NIS as well as a missionary of justice and fairness.

Babandede expressed worry over what Immigration officers are doing in liberated territories in the troubled Northeast, lamenting that, “heartless Immigration officers set illegal check points at hinterland to bully and extort money from citizens already devastated by Boko Haram insurgency.” He then declared that he will not accept the Service being turned to “the 2nd grade of Boko Haram”.


Promising to run a most efficient service delivery system in the history of the NIS, he vowed to make more leaders out of the officers, adding that he will empower and build the capacity of all officers at every level of service delivery.

PDP crisis: Fayose’s aide resigns over N220,000 salary

The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has claimed another casualty, as the Special Assistant to the Governor on Parliamentary Affairs, Samuel Ajibola, has resigned his appointment.

Ajibola in his letter of resignation said he quit the Ayo Fayose-led administration “on basic developmental issues and the economic situation in the state which he can no longer pretend over.”

He was the only PDP member of the House of Assembly before Fayose came to power on October 16, 2014.


Ajibola later joined six All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers who joined Fayose’s camp.

In his letter dated May 28,2016, Ajibola said, “I humbly write this to formally notify you that I am resigning from my position as your S.A on Parliamentary Affairs.

“Sir, within my personal conviction, I am satisfied that I have in honesty and utmost loyalty served the PDP, the people of EKiti and government in general.

“Therefore, I am premising my resignation on some basic developmental issues and the economic situation in the state which I cannot continuing to pretend over.


“My resignation takes off immediately.”

When pressed to speak further on why he quit the party, the former lawmaker said he got into trouble with Fayose for going to the house of former Governor Segun Oni to celebrate Christmas with the latter last December.

Ajibola also disclosed that his meeting with a party elder, Chief Clement Awoyelu, with the intent to broker peace with a faction led by the former senator did not go down well with the governor who allegedly accused him of holding meeting with his political opponents.

He added: “My brother, as SAPA, the Governor pay me N220,000 and I am a grassroot politician, which the Governor himself knows what it means.

“Also I have one of children, currently serving and two others in the university, how do I cope and my constituency are also of high hope that they have a son in the Fayose cabinet.‎”

Female UNILAG Student Posing As Wizkid On Facebook Arrested For Duping Fans Of N10.4M

Officials of Lagos Police command have arrested a 19-year-old girl posing as Wizkid on Facebook.

The self-professed UNILAG undergraduate whose name wasn’t disclosed duped many people including fellow students of the University of Lagos before she was arrested.

Among her many victims were 2 people living overseas.

The money she made fraudulently off Wizid is over $53,000 (around N10.4million).

She duped a victim of $49,000 while another was milked of $12,000.

The female undergraduate was arrested after Wizkid reported the matter to the police.

4 Desperate Nigerians Who Smuggled Themselves Into Malaysia-Bound Cargo Ship Nabbed

4 Nigerians, who smuggled themselves into a Malaysia-bound cargo vessel have been arrested. The stowaways are 24-year-old Ahmed Azeez, 33-year-old Tunde Yagba, 33-year-old Ajose Kehinde and 25-year-old Adewale Sunday.

The suspects all indigenes of Snake Island village behind Tincan Island Port, Lagos stole a canoe under the cover of darkness and paddled to a Malaysian-bound cargo ship MV Maersk Casablanca.

Police AIG, Maritime Police Command Muhammed Katsina said:

“The vessel was berthed at Tincan Island Port. They trespassed into the vessel. They dived into the water and sneaked through the propeller into the manhole, where they hid themselves in a small compartment.

“Exactly 23 hours after the ship had sailed, my intelligence group from the Amphibious Ambush Squad (AAS), alerted me of the presence of some strange elements in the vessel. We quickly alerted our operatives at Onne Port, in collaboration with the men of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) who played a commendable role and they were found and arrested. One of them (Adewale) was bleeding profusely as a result of injury he sustained in the process while sneaking into the vessel.”

Adewale is currently admitted at an hospital in Lagos because of an ulcerous wound.

One Chance Robbery: 2 Poly Graduates Who Raped & Stabbed Lady @Her House In Ajah Lagos Arrested

2 graduates of Delta State & Gateway Polytechnic have been arrested for attacking a lady while robbing her.

The suspects told police they stabbed their victim while she was attempting to shout during their robbery operation.

Hear what 25-year-old Richard Orji and 24-year-old Desmond Pedro said while chatting with journalists on Tuesday:

“We carried out this operation on our way to visit a friend. We were just strolling when we noticed a particular building. The house did not have burglar proof. We decided to enter the kitchen window. “We met a lady inside the house. That was how we started our operation. We collected some items from her, including her Black Berry Bold 5, E5 Samsung and Ipad.

We also went away with N5,000. While we were on the operation, we stabbed her for shouting. I (Richard Orji) was the one who stabbed her. After I stabbed her, I and Desmond (Pedro) seized the opportunity to rape her; we both raped her twice.”

Pedro said:

“We sold her phones to an engineer, who displayed it on his show glass. Unfortunately, the victim and her friends were going out one day when they saw her phones on display. She ran to the engineer and asked him where he got the phones. The engineer said two guys sold them to him some days ago. She reported the matter to the police. We were arrested.”

A governor of a state in Nigeria has rolled on the floor begging God for forgiveness and his intervention over the things happening in his state.

The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has been pictured on the floor begging God to forgive the sins of the people of the state.

The incident happened at a service to mark the end of a two-week compulsory fasting and prayers, held at the IBB Square in Makurdi, the state capital.

Ortom who mentioned that the state is passing through tough times as workers in the state are being owed 4-5 months with no completed project after one year, begged God for intervention.

Blame yourselves, not Buhari for South-East woes – Group tells Igbo leaders

The Buhari South-East Youth Movement, BUSEYM, has warned politicians in the South-East geo-political zone of the danger of creating fathom political issues in the zone and blaming same on President Muhammadu Buhari, stressing that the current political configuration of the country which had placed South-East in the opposition was neither created nor caused by the President.
The group, in a statement jointly signed by its director-general, Engr.

Nwabueze Onwuneme and national publicity secretary, Comrade Igwe Samuel Obinna and made available to newsmen in Owerri, was reacting to some statements credited to some speakers in an anniversary lecture held by Alaigbo Development Union in Enugu as reported by a national daily on May 28, 2016.

Stressing that it did not wish to join issues with some of the personalities who gathered recently in Enugu to make their assertions, BUSEYM urged the region’s political leaders who have not contributed to the socio-economic development of the zone to apologise for their ineffectual leadership rather than resort to the blame game and weaving of fiction.

While regretting the position of some Igbo elites who believe that the Buhari administration had relegated the Igbo to the background, it wondered how they arrived at this conclusion.

It accused the elites of failing to ask questions on the supposed developmental projects that should have accrued to the Igbo when the PDP was at the helm of affairs and totally neglected the zone as seen in the near collapse of infrastructure/socio-economic growth of the zone. It said these problems were not brought about by just one year in office of the APC led administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The statement reads, “Lest we forget in that era we had Igbo as Senate President, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating minister of the Economy, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria to mention but a few.

“But in those 16 years it is regrettable to note that projects that were dear to the hearts of Igbos were not executed as seen in the Second Niger Bridge and Enugu-Onitsha which ditto till now was not done till the advent of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration which just of recent backed words with action by the release of N13billion and N5.5b respectively for the projects”

BUSEYM maintained that while they would not cross swords with any individual/group, their position is that those seeking relevance in the polity should come up with clearly stated programmes that would contribute to the upliftment and betterment of the wellbeing of the people. It advised against wiping up tribal/religious sentiments which has been the bane of the Nigerian nation and its people.

The group further maintained that Buhari had been very fair in his treatment of all tribes in the nation and Ndi Igbo inclusive as seen with the appointment of six Igbo sons as Ministers in the federal executive council.

The group advised that rather than trade blames or fan the embers of disunity, Igbo elites should re-strategise and re-align their political objectives and jettison platforms and personalities who had their turn, but failed to deliver.

Speedy passage of money laundry bill, others will help my anti-corruption fight – Buhari begs NASS

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the National Assembly to speedily pass five Executive bills in other to aide his anti-corruption crusade.

Buhari while making the appeal at a dinner he organised in honour of the National Assembly members at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday night, listed the bills to include, the Money ‎Laundry and Prevention Bill of 2016‎, Bills for Acts for domestication of agreements for avoidance of double taxation between Nigeria, South Korea, Spain and Sweden.

Others include, Mutual legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Bill, 2016 the Federal Capital Territory Appropriation Bill, 2016 and Statutory Budget of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC‎, 2016.


The President, however, promised that his administration would continue to respect the principle of separation of power as enshrined in the constitution.

He said, “This is first, to mark the 2016 Democracy Day and further to appreciate the National Assembly leadership, membership and management for the great work they have done in considering and approving as thought fit several bills and measures submitted by the executive and those bills originated by the legislature which have enabled the government function according to law.

“Let me again appreciate the work of the National Assembly for the painstaking and consensual work they did with the Executive to deliver the 2016 Appropriation Act.

“It is on record that this is one rare occasion where the Appropriation Act was assented to with the schedule i.e the details. This is a good start in our journey of change.


“I seize this opportunity to please draw attention to the under listed bills which have been submitted to the National Assembly and appeal for accelerated consideration and passage.

“I am conscious that on June 9, 2016, the National Assembly will complete one legislative year.

“May I appeal to you to consider and pass these submitted bills, particularly the statutory budget of the FCT, the NDDC Budget and the budget of statutory corporations.

“These bodies cannot execute their statutory mandate nor incur expenditure for the year unless their budgets are approved by the National Assembly.

“I hereby re-state the commitment of this administration to observe the principles of separation of powers which define and delineate the functions and powers of each arm of government.

“Thus far, we in the executive have restricted ourselves to our constitutional roles. Therefore I, as the President, and we as the Executive arm of government will not interfere in the functions, functioning and process of the Legislature nor the Judiciary.

“In the same vein, I urge other arms of government to please appraise and ensure that each action conceived and taken by it is in strict accord with its constitutionally limited powers.

“I urge you as legislators and the legislature to take out time and communicate with your constituents and other Nigerians the policies of the government which are based on laws approved by the National Assembly.”

Tragic! 46-year-old Woman Commits Suicide in a Forest After Testing Positive to HIV in Enugu

In a shocking news, a woman has gone to the bush and took her own life in a tragic fashion after learning about her HIV status.

A 46-year-old woman, identified as Celestina Mamah from Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, has reportedly killed herself after testing positive to HIV/AIDS.

According to reports, the woman went to a forest and stabbed herself to death after learning about her status. Police investigation shows that the victim had left her home on May 28 at about 6pm and headed to a forest near Ogwu Rest House in Udenu Local Government Area of the state where she allegedly committed suicide.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Enugu state police command, DSP Ebere Amaraizu confirmed that the woman allegedly tested positive to HIV after a test at a nearby hospital.

Her corpse was found the following day at about 11am.
