‘Community Leader Runs Illegal Detention Camp In Kwara’

The Patron, Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Kanbi branch in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State, Mr. Suleiman Chindo, has raised the alarm over an illegal detention cell in the community allegedly run by the Hausa leader in the community, Muhammadu Dan-ango.

Chindo, in an interview with journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Thursday, said Dan-ango (popularly called Seriki Hausawa),once led the security outfit of the community.

He alleged that Dan-ango operated a detention cell while he was the leader of the community’s security outfit and allegedly tortured some people.

According to him, Dan-ango still operates the illegal facility, where he allegedly tortures his victims.
Chindo said, “He went to the extent of operating a cell, torturing people. He is police, anti-drug officer, judge and everything. So every member of the community is pushed to the wall. He beats, detains and extorts people.”

He further alleged that the Hausa leader had been confiscating mobile phones of young girls in the community on the pretext that he was preventing them from being corrupted or engaging in immoral conducts, which, according to him, they could learn from using handsets.

Chindo said this alleged action had caused disquiet in the community as many residents were opposed to such action.

Chindo said, “He proclaimed a law that all under-aged Hausa girls, should not use mobile phones because the devices corrupt them, adding that they are perpetuating adultery and fornication through things online.

“A lot of people are not in good terms with this law and it has nearly brought the community to crisis. I and others have had to calm down the youths, whose sisters, fiancés, and daughters’ phones were being snatched from them.

“The instruction he gave to his boys who are snatching the phones is that after seizing phones, they should bring the memory cards and the SIM-cards to him and sell off the handsets. At least, 15 mobile phones have been snatched from young girls in Kambi community.”

He added, “The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, is aware of it. He has called the person who brought him for turbaning and urged him to stop that law. When he came back to the community, he wanted to continue the self-proclaimed law.

“He used a police personnel to arrest a 75-year-old man who told him to stop seizing residents’ phones.

“If they had not released that man some weeks ago when he was arrested, the community would have erupted in crisis.”

But Dan-ango said the accusations were untrue.

He denied operating a private cell when he was the head of vigilance group in the community before his appointment as the Seriki Hausawa of Kanbi Village.

He denied ever detaining or beating people.

According to him, he was instrumental to the formation of the vigilance group in the community when people of questionable character were terrorising the community.

Dan-ango said, “During my time as the leader of the vigilance group, we always handed over anybody arrested for alleged criminal acts to the police both in Kanbi and Ilorin, the state capital. In other words, all the arrests we effected were with the express consent of the police,” he said

“On the seizure of cell phones of under-aged Hausa girls, when we realised that our girls were being influenced negatively via the cellphones, the Hausa community in the village decided that all phones of the under-aged girls should be confiscated by their parents. I never on my own, confiscated phones of any girl.

“I know the accusation is the handiwork of someone who wants to become leader of the vigilance group. I have a deputy who automatically should become leader. This person who was not domiciled in Kanbi and came from Zango in Ilorin wanted to lead the vigilance group. Because we disallowed him, he went about telling lies against us.”

The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, said he did not have enough information on the allegations. He promised to make findings about the problem in the community and get back to our correspondent. But he had not done so as of the time of filing this report.

Father Raises Alarm After Sick Daughter Narrates Ritual Encounter With Herbalist

In July 2017, a security guard, Mr. Azeez Saidi, noticed that his 19-year-old daughter, Fatima, suddenly became emaciated and withdrawn.

He said the girl, who works as an apprentice tailor around Amukoko area of Lagos, also slept and ate little.

“It became so bad that I was crying while her sister was also crying because we did not know what was wrong with her.

“We bought various drugs but none worked. Their mother died two years ago and I am bringing them
up all alone.

“The first day it started, she got back from work that day and said she was very tired. Then from then on, it was like she was a plant that gradually withered.”

Saturday Punch learnt that on her way to work that fateful day, the exact date of which the girl’s foggy mind could no longer bring up, she passed by the house of a herbalist, 68-year-old Jimoh Amuda, on Imam Street, Amukoko. The man reportedly summoned the girl. The rest of the story sounded more like a Hollywood script.

For more than a month after her encounter with Amuda started, Fatima told no one.

But when her father became concerned and started crying over her state, she opened up.

“I was crying, her young brother too was crying. That was when she told me that the herbalist had warned her not to reveal what had happened,” Fatima’s father said.

She said Amuda called her and said she had to make an alms of sugar, salt and cola nuts.

The following day, she explained that she went to thank the man for his prayers and instructions.

Amuda reportedly sat her down and explained that she needed spiritual help.

Fatima told her father that Amuda then gave her a fetish item to ingest with pap.

He said, “She told us that after that, the man gave her ‘Hontu’ (a controversial Islamic practice in Nigeria of writing Surah on a slate, washing it off and drinking it for healing and warding off spiritual attacks).

“I was shocked by all these. How can anyone tell her to do all that and she did not make any effort to tell me as her father?

“The most frightening was that after the drink he gave her, he told her to buy waist beads which she had to wear for three days. My daughter said she did not have any money to buy beads and he told her not to worry.

“He gave her a bead, which he said she could either keep and give him N2,000 in exchange or return after she had worn it for three days.

“My daughter said she did not have money, but after wearing it for three days as instructed, she returned it to the man.”

That was when her troubles started.

Saidi said he raised the alarm after hearing his daughter’s story and one of his brothers reported the matter to the police.

He said they eventually confronted the man and asked him why he targeted Fatima.

“I wanted to know the reason for it all and he said everything he did for her was just for spiritual healing. I asked if my daughter approached him first and he said he was the one who took interest in her,” he said.

A police source told a Punch correspondent that during interrogation, the herbalist confessed that he was just trying to make money but did not elaborate about how this connects to the different items he had given Fatima to ingest and use.

“He kept repeating that all he had done for the girl were for spiritual favour (referred to as eyonu in Yoruba). At a point, he was asked to eat some of the items he said he gave the girl to ingest.”

On Friday, the police said Amuda was charged with enslavement at the Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court, Lagos.

He has been remanded at the Kirikiri Prisons till he is able to perfect his bail conditions.

The case would come up for hearing on September 15, 2017.

Electric Cars To Be Introduced Into Nigerian Market By 2016

Nigus Enfinity, an indigenous firm, says it will introduce electric vehicles into the Nigerian automobile market in 2018 and that its local assembly plant for electric vehicles will be ready in 2020.

Malik Ado-Ibrahim, chairman of the company, made this known to journalists in an interactive session which held in Abuja on Thursday. Ado-Ibrahim said several countries across the world have
set targets for the ban of petrol-fuelled vehicles with India targeting 2030, and the United Kingdom, 2040.

He said Nigeria and Africa need to look inward to be at the fore of the automotive revolution or risk becoming waste bin for banned vehicles from other countries.

Ado-Ibrahim, who was the first African to lead the Formula 1 Team global race car competition in 1999, said his firm is already building a 100 megawatts (mw) solar power plant in Katsina and another in Adamawa state.

According to him, the company has also partnered with Build Your Dreams, a Chinese firm, to import electric vehicles at affordable costs from 2018.

“We are also working with BYD to get a local brand and start an electric vehicle assembly plant for Nigeria from 2020. Gradually we will move to an EV with the African DNA starting in Nigeria,” he said.

5,000 March, Pray For Buhari In Kano

About 5,000 people from seven states in the north trooped out on Thursday for the proposed two-million-man march to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari back into the country and pray for the full restoration of his health.

The crowd assembled at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, where they chanted various solidarity songs before eventually offering prayers for the President.

Shortly after the prayer session, the crowd headed for the Golden Jubilee Cenotaph situated around the Kano State Government House where Governor Abdullahi Ganduje received them.

Apart from registering their loyalty to the President, the supporters also presented a letter to the governor for onward delivery to Buhari.

While thanking the supporters for their concern and prayers for the President, Ganduje said with the type of dedication shown by the former military general in tackling the challenges of the country, it won’t be long before things start moving in the right direction.

He said, “President Buhari has been arresting those, who stole our money and will continue to arrest them. He has recovered billions of our common wealth stolen by thieves, which have now been deposited in our treasury.”

However, Ganduje, urged Nigerians to intensify their prayers for President Buhari, who he described as not only a man of peace and equity but someone with a deep love for the country.

M.I Hints He Has Limited Days In The Music Industry

Lol, do we say Tuface is the luckiest, because it looks like Tuface won't quit like them Sunny Ade till he answers God. So many older musicians have been hinting they would soon leave the industry, while some have already left quietly, and M.I just joined the leagues of those who would leave sooner than you think. While speaking with saturday beats, he explained the reason for his album delay after 3 years and then the hint....

“The truth about it is that the CEO work has been harder than I thought and it has taken a lot of time from me. Also, when you become a brand, you have brand commitments as well. My contract with Glo expired this year even though I have been working with them for seven years and I had been their
ambassador for five years. We had to go for interviews, tours, shoot commercials, then you come back and you do the same thing for Martel. Then, I have friends that would want you to feature in their concerts. So, as a brand, it became tougher. Once an artiste gets to the point where he becomes a brand, it becomes tougher for him.

“I have about five projects in my heart that I want to do because I am getting older and once I am done with that I would probably leave,” he said.

The rap artiste further stated that he has been in the game for a decade and he is still waxing stronger. He further told Saturday Beats that he felt honoured being compared to the new crop of artistes.

“I am ten years in the industry since my first song came out in Lagos in 2007 because that’s when Crowd Mentality was released. It is an ultimate compliment for me to be compared with the likes of Olamide, Phyno, Ice Prince and others that came out after me. If you think about my first five years, I was really hot but as you get older, you get tired of saying some things. It is very hard for me to write a song about being in the club. If you hear some certain artistes sing about being in the club, you would say that you’d prefer a younger artiste to sing about that,” he said.

North Korea fires 3 short-range ballistic missiles

(CNN) - North Korea fired three short-range ballistic missiles Saturday morning from Kangwon province, the US Pacific Command said.
Though North Korea says it now has the ability to send missiles to the US mainland, US defense officials said they determined these missiles did not pose a threat to North America or Guam.
Cmdr. David Benham, spokesman for US Pacific Command, said the first and third missiles "failed in flight" and the second missile launch "appears to have blown up almost immediately."
"We are working with our Interagency partners on a more detailed assessment and we will provide a public update if warranted," he said.

The missile tests occurred as the United States and South Korea conducted the annual Ulchi Freedom Guardian military exercises.
South Korea and the United States call the exercises defensive in nature, but North Korea sees them as provocative and hostile, perhaps even preparation for an invasion.
"The Korean People's Army is keeping a high alert, fully ready to contain the enemies. It will take resolute steps the moment even a slight sign of the preventive war is spotted," North Korean state-run newspaper Rodong Sinmun said.
A statement issued by the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said "the projectiles" were launched around 6:49 a.m. Saturday and flew about 250 kilometers (155 miles) into the Sea of Japan, or East Sea.
South Korea planned to convene its national security council several hours after the missile launches, the presidential office said in a statement.
"Our military is closely monitoring for North Korean additional provocation and strengthened surveillance and security postures and maintaining readiness postures," the South Korean release said.
North Korea has conducted a series of ballistic missile tests this year, increasing tensions with the United States, South Korea and Japan.
The country has fired more than 20 missiles since February, further perfecting its technology with each launch. In July, it launched an intercontinental ballistic missile, which North Korea claims could reach "anywhere in the world."

Thai Man Admits Slitting Throat Of Woman Who Said He Sucked at Sex

A man has admitted slitting the throat of a woman who said he 'sucked at sex' after they spent a night of passion at a rubber plantation.

The furious man, named as Natthan Raknui, admitted he had murdered 22-year-old Jiraporn Theppaya after the pair had sex on their first date, according to officials.

Raknui, 23, is said to have admitted to slitting the throat of the young woman before dumping her body at the plant near a canal in the city of Songkhla in the Songkhla province of southern Thailand.

Police said the pair had started talking via Facebook in July, chatting frequently over two weeks.

They then agreed to meet and Raknui rode two hours on his moped to meet up with his date on August 12.

The pair did not have enough money to rent a hotel room so rode to a nearby rubber plantation to have sex.

During the act it is said she slated his sexual skills, saying he 'sucked at sex', which infuriated him.

Police say he admitted slitting his victim's throat before escaping on his motorbike, which he later sold for 7,000 THB (£164).

Her body was found three days later, and police then pieced together what had happened by looking at her internet history.

Raknui is believed to be in custody awaiting sentencing.

ISIS Beheads Nine Soldiers, Two Civilians In Libya

ISIS has claimed it beheaded at least 11 people at a checkpoint manned by forces of Libyan military strongman Khalifa Haftar.

Haftar's spokesman Colonel Ahmad al-Mesmari said at least nine soldiers and two civilians were executed after the extremists attacked the Al-Jufra region around 500km (300 miles) from Tripoli.

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack via its Amaq propaganda channel on the Telegram messaging app, saying its fighters had killed or wounded '21 members of Haftar's militia'.

Libya has been rocked by chaos since the 2011 fall and killing of longtime dictator Moamer Kadhafi
in a NATO-backed revolution.

Jihadists, arms dealers and people traffickers have gained a foothold in the North African country as multiple authorities and dozens of militias vie for power.

What People Are Saying About Sex With A ROBOT

While you might think that having sex behind your partner's back would count as cheating, it seems that many people don't think this is the case if the other 'person' is a robot.

A shocking new study has revealed that 40 per cent of Britons don't see sex with a robot as cheating.

Despite this, one in three Britons said they would be 'horrified' if one of their friends started a relationship with a robot, with 16 per cent saying they would try to convince them to abandon it.

The new sex robot survey was commissioned by UK online streaming service, Now TV.

The survey comes in relation to Now TV's programme, Westworld, in which people can visit a futuristic theme park to live out their darkest fantasies.

The survey also revealed that 39 per cent of people in the UK think that people will be having relationships with robots instead of humans in just 34 years.

China Removes Loudspeakers From Hundreds Of Mosques To Stop Calls To Prayer

A Chinese county has removed loudspeakers from over 300 mosques after getting noise complaints from neighbours about the call to prayer.

Hualong Hui Autonomous County in China's Qinghai province has removed over one thousand loudspeakers over three days.

The removal of the call to prayer has angered muslims in the area who have branded the locals as intolerant. It comes as anti-muslim sentiment rises in China and the Chinese government cracks down on people practicing the Islamic faith.

A Chinese county has removed loudspeakers from over 300 mosques after getting noise complaints
from neighbours about the call to prayer.

According to Global Times, the call to prayer ritual is not forbidden and Muslims are 'free to practice their religion across China.'

However in some areas of China such as Xinjiang, the government has been cracking down on Islamic activities. Now in the province, people under 18 are not allowed to visit the mosque while burqas and 'Islamic looking' beards have also been banned.

William Nee, China Researcher at Amnesty International told MailOnline: 'In China, there are numerous cases where the government is arresting imams on flimsy charges, sending government cadres to people's homes during Ramadan to ensure they don't pray and banning outward manifestation of Islamic faith.

'Seen in this context, it's highly likely that the move to take down loudspeakers in mosques is a way to ensure Islam literally has a diminished voice in the public square.'

Gbenga Daniel Accuses Kashamu Of Sending Assassins After Him

A former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, today petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, alleging attempt on his life by a Nigerian senator, Buruji Kashamu.

According to the petitioner, some domestic and security aides were physically assaulted, but no one died in the incident, which occurred on Thursday around 9:13 p.m.

The politician blamed Mr. Kashamu for the alleged incident, which he said occurred at his residence in the Abuja neighbourhood of Maitama.

But Mr. Kashamu has denied the allegations, castigating Mr. Daniel as an “irresponsible” politician desperate for political relevance.

Abuja police spokesperson, Anjuguri Manzah, has told PREMIUM TIMES he had not been briefed about the incident, promising to ‘revert upon internal inquiries.’

The former governor said his alleged assailants knew he was in Abuja for theinauguration of a new caretaker committee for troubled Ogun Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Wednesday, but “they didn’t know he had left on Thursday morning for Ibadan where the party’s national executive welcomed new defectors.”‎

Mr. Daniel linked the alleged incident to Mr. Kashamu, who has been his political rival for years. In the petition, he also listed perceived transgressions carried out against him by Mr Kashamu.

Mr. Kashamu’s spokesperson, Austin Oniyorkor, denied the allegations on behalf of his principal, Friday evening.

“It’s shocking and laughable,” Mr. Oniyorkor told PREMIUM TIMES on the telephone.

“That OGD would just wake up and level all these allegations without any shred of evidence shows his hallucinatory state of mind.”

Mr. Oniyorkor said the former governor failed to “heed acceptable procedures, even if his claims were true.”

“Even if there was an attempt on his life, what any responsible person would do is to report to the authorities to investigate the incident.

“But OGD has become the accuser, the investigator and the judge in his own case,” he said.

The spokesperson said Mr. Daniel is “fuming because he’s no longer viable in contemporary Nigerian politics.”

He added that Mr. Kashamu has no history of violence.

“He is looking for someone to drag along with him in his fall into political oblivion.

“It’s a matter of public record that Senator Kashamu does not have any history of violence, whatsoever. It was during OGD era that the whole of Ogun State was under siege of violence and politically-motivated killings,” he said.

Mr. Daniel is the latest politician from Ogun State to level assassination claims against Mr. Kashamu, who has evaded extradition to the United States on drugs charges for years.

A similar claim against him by Oladipo Adebutu, a serving federal lawmaker, is still pending at the Federal High Court.

American National Accused Of Green Card Fraud Begs To Leave Kirikiri Prison

An American national, Marco Ramirez, allegedly defrauded three Nigerians of 565,000 US dollars on the false pretense of obtaining a green card for them, has approached the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja to beg for variation of his bail conditions in order for him to leave Kirikiri prison where he had been remanded.

Ramirez, on Friday, August 25, 2017, told Justice Ganiyu Safari, the presiding vacation judge, that his health condition was deteriorating in the Kirikiri prison hence the need for a condition he could easily meet.

His counsel, Ademola Adefolaju, prayed the court for an order to allow him to bring a directorate
cadre in the Lagos State Civil Service as a substitute for an earlier order that a director in a reputable company in Nigeria should stand surety for him.

Upon Ramirez arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Justice Josephine Oyefeso, on July 10, granted him bail with some conditions.

Ademola enjoined the court to hear his client application, which was served on the EFCC on the 21st of August, stressing that Ramirez was dying in prison because it was difficult for him to meet up with the bail conditions.

However, Justice Safari was of the view that since the anti-graft was not aware of today's proceedings, the matter is better adjourned and a new date of hearing served on the prosecutor.

The judge adjourned the hearing of the application till Monday, 28th of August, 2017.

Recall that the EFCC had slammed 16 charges, bordering on obtaining 565,000 US dollars under false pretenses from three Nigerians to get them an American green card.

Ramirez, the Managing Director of three companies – USA Now Plc., Eagleford Instalodge Group, and USA Now Capital Group – allegedly committed the offenses between February 2013 and August 2013, according to the EFCC.

The American was alleged to have fraudulently received 545,000 US dollars from one Godson Echejue to invest in Mr. Ramirez’s company.

The plan was to procure an American green card (permanent residence card) for Mr. Echejue.

Ramirez also allegedly received 10,000 US dollars from one Abubakar Umar through a non-existent investment program in the U.S. which would make Umar eligible to obtain an American passport.

The EFCC also accused him of illegally receiving 10,000 US dollars from one Olukayode Sodimu on the pretext that the funds were facilitation fees with the American Immigration Services for an American green card.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar said on Thursday that the traditional institution was in support of the recent move by the Federal Government to criminalise hate speech and fake news.

The Sultan, who stated this in Abuja at the Annual Lecture Series and 25th Anniversary of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), added that hate speech should be declared as terrorism offence.

He said that the traditional institution was in support of the recent declaration by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as Acting President that “none will be allowed to get away with making speeches that can
cause sedition or that can cause violence’’.

Shiites Write U.S, Don't Sell Weapons To Nigeria

A Nigerian Shiite  group, Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, has written to the United States government urging it not to sell weapons or any military hardware to the Nigerian government, Premium Times states.

The letter, which was dated August 17 and signed by the head of the Free Zakzaky Campaign Committee, Abdulrahaman Abubakar, cited “appalling human rights record” of Nigerian military as the reason for the group’s “vehement objection to the proposed sale of weapons and military hardware to the government of Nigeria.”

In the letter, the group stated that “the military’s human rights record in Nigeria is utterly dismal and
the Nigerian government’s commitment to the rule of law is even worse off.”

It drew the attention of the U.S. government to “incessant refusal of the government to acknowledge excesses of the military in handling civilian matters, but even tries to justify them.”

IMN alleged the examples of “the blatant murder of 34 unarmed civilians in Zaria in 2014, including the children of Sheikh Zakzaky, without the government doing anything about it.

“As if it was not grievous enough, the murderous soldiers returned in December, 2015 with an even more brutal force, resulting in the death of over a thousand innocent citizens. The initial response of the government to this callous disregard for human lives was to say, it was a “military affair.”

The group further alleged that “there is usually no properly conducted inquiries, no prosecutions, no remorse and no public apologies after such acts by the military.”

The Shiites accused the Nigerian government of “shirking in its duties to hold its soldiers to account.”
The group further cited the case of continued incarceration of its leader, Ibraheem Zakzaky, and his wife “after shooting them at point-blank range, treated them in the most humiliating and denigrating manner before hauling them into incommunicado detention without charges for twenty months.

“Even after a Nigerian High Court had ruled that the detention is unconstitutional and ordered their release, the government has continued to contemptuously defy the order.”

The petition therefore called for a complete arms embargo to be placed on the Nigerian military.

It also wanted the embargo to be extended to travel bans and other embargoes for senior military and political leaders “until a genuine commitment to the principles of rule of law, justice, fair play and human rights can be demonstrated beyond rhetoric and half-hearted measures by the government”.

A US Based Company Has Created Headphones That Can Get You High On Music

There’s really no better feeling than being able to plug in your headphones and shut out the world. Headphones make long commutes less lonely, they provide relief from uninspiring conversation and probably make going to the gym suck a little less. It’s safe to say that headphones have acquired ‘Prized Possession’ status and they’re a very, very important part of life.

So, music lovers, pay attention – a Florida-based tech startup, Nervana, has just upped the headphone game. At the recently held Las Vegas Consumers Electronics Show, the company unveiled the Nervana headphones that promise to get you high off of the music – both legally and literally.
While that seems like a tall order, the science behind these mood-enhancing headphones is actually pretty simple. The headphones are paired with a device called the generator which receives audio
from your music device, generates electrical pulses that match the beat of the music, and sends the music and pulses to the headphones. These pulses then trigger the vagus nerve, via the inner ear canal, thereby prompting the release of feel-good hormones like dopamine, oxytocin and serotonin.

Dopamine is usually released in response to sex, exercise or smoking weed and leaves you with happy thoughts and good vibes!

Another cool feature of these headphones is the generator’s Ambient Mode. The generator has the power to analyze the sounds of your immediate environment and match the nerve simulation to it for a modified experience each time. This means that you could plug these in at a music concert and actually get high to the music, which basically changes everything.

How are these legal?

The nerve-stimulating headphones have been positioned as a lifestyle and wellness device, like the FitBit, and don’t need FDA approval. The only real roadblock on your path to Nervana is its price as the headphones will set you back by a cool $299. However, if that seems like a price you’d like to pay, the headphones has been up for pre-order since March and will be shipped starting late spring.

The company doesn’t want you to Nervana and drive at the same time, though. Nervana CEO Ami Brannon clarified that while there is no impairment to brain function, the official advice is to avoid driving for 30 minutes after use.

Here’s what a happy tester had to say about the headphones at the CES:

“I felt the electricity go into my arm, and everything was tingling there, but the best moment for me was afterwards when I finished and stood up. I felt like I reached a personal high point. I couldn’t stop smiling or laughing. I was like, ‘Oh wow.’ For about five minutes, my happiness level was a 10 out of 10. Then it got foggier, but I was still unusually happy for about an hour."

Sounds good, you guys.

Abubakar would engender lasting peace.

The Igwe said: “I trust the Emir of Bauchi who raised his hands to heaven that as long as he is alive, his time would witness peace.

“We also thank Governor Abubakar because he is someone that if you are aggrieved, when he talks to you, you will feel better and change your mind about what you planned to do”

One Donor Fathers 102 Children In Netherlands

A sperm donor in the Netherlands is the center of a fertility scandal after an investigation showed that he had fathered 102 children by donating at 11 different clinics.

An investigation into the man, who has not been publicly named, was launched after single mothers warned the authorities of a donor who gave his sperm at several clinics.

Sperm donors are supposed to sign contracts agreeing not to donate at different clinics, though the rule is not often checked or enforced.

By law, a sperm donor in the Netherlands is only allowed to sire 25 children to limit the chance that
conceived children would later end up in a relationship not knowing they are half-siblings.

Authorities found that the man in question was able to donate at 11 different clinics and father 102 children.

The Dutch Ministry of Public Health warned that oversight is lacking in fertility clinics, according to an analysis of the Artificial Insemination Data Foundation, which oversees the data of sperm donors.

The donor of the 102 children was tracked down and told a Dutch daily that his motive 'was not to have as many children as possible'.

He said: 'I just like to do it and to make people happy. It makes me feel helpful. The gratitude of doctors and prospective parents is great.'

The man said: 'Clinics are already happy if they have a donor who passes the screening.' He said that his sperm was 'often immediately used'. But who asked him to do that and break laws?

Islamist Terrorist Blow Themselves Up Rather Than Surrender To Police

This is the moment a suspected Islamist terrorist cell opted to blow themselves up rather than surrender to police.

Police had tracked the four extremists to a house in the village of Psedach in south western Russia's Republic of Ingushetia, where they ordered the men to surrender.

However, rather than give themselves up, the group opted to set of a bomb which destroyed their hideout, killing all four of them.

The gang of extremists had been hunted by the Russian secret services in connection with the
attempted murder of policemen.

Federal Security Service operatives surrounded their hideout, and the group began shooting at the officers, who returned fire.

Photos show how the huge explosion from their suicide bombs ripped the roof off the little cottage.

No one else was injured in the blast, which was captured in footage taken by Russian national anti-terrorism committee.

The terrorists were believed to be members of the Khunzakh militant group.

Father-Of-Two Exonerated Of Murder He Didn't Commit After 25 Years In Prison, Now Suing Cops For $125m

A Detroit man who served 25 years in prison for murder based on sham evidence has filed a lawsuit seeking more than $125million.

Desmond Ricks was released in May after making the extraordinary claim that Detroit Police framed him for a fatal shooting that killed Gerry Bennett outside a restaurant in 1992. A judge reviewed the evidence and he was exonerated.

An analysis of two bullets from the victim shows they don't match the gun that was offered as the murder weapon at Ricks' trial in 1992. He was accused of shooting a friend outside a Detroit
restaurant and sentenced to at least 32 years in prison.

Attorney Wolfgang Mueller says Ricks was a victim of 'horrific' misconduct. He filed a lawsuit in federal court Wednesday on behalf of Ricks and two daughters.

The suit names two defendants who are retired Detroit police officers. David Pauch was the evidence technician on the case. Donald Stawiasz was the officer in charge of the investigation that led to Ricks' wrongful conviction.

The lawsuit argues that the duo framed Ricks by fabricating bullet evidence - swapping out the bullets taken from the victim's body with bullets test-fired from a gun belonging to Ricks' mother.

At trial, prosecutors said a gun belonging to Ricks' mother was used in the slaying. But tests on bullets still in police storage eliminated any connection.

Ricks worked with a team from University of Michigan law school and a gun expert. They claimed Detroit police framed Ricks for the slaying with sham evidence - bullets that didn't come from the victim.

'I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I had nothing to do with this,' Ricks, 50, said, referring to the shooting of a friend outside a burger dive.

'They switched the bullets on me,' he said.

The expert remembered the case, visited Ricks three times and told him about some nagging concerns.

All charges were dropped on June 1.

An investigation showed the bullets from Bennett were still in police storage. Tests in recent weeks show they do not match the .38-caliber gun that belonged to Ricks' mother in 1992.

'I don't have time to be angry or mad,' Ricks said outside court. 'I just want to live.'

He likely will benefit from a new Michigan law that awards someone who is wrongly convicted $50,000 for each year spent in prison.

Mel B Speaks Over Comments Made By Simon Cowell That Made Her Snap

Mel B has spoken out over comments made by her America's Got Talent boss and co-judge Simon Cowell on Tuesday.

After a disappointing magic act, Simon, 57, likened the routine to Mel's wedding night - saying it had 'not much promise or delivery', to which she threw a cup of water at him and stormed off set.

In an interview with E! News, Mel said: '[Evie Clair] really made me cry because it made me think about my dad, and my dad recently passed away from cancer also, with an almost eight to nine years
struggle.'

Explaining her anger, she continued, 'She just sounded so beautiful and I couldn’t stop crying, so I go from that to Simon saying something so rude and inappropriate.'

On Tuesday, Mel, 42, - who is going through a bitter divorce with Stephen Belafonte - split her dress in the commotion, before branding the show boss 'stupid' and suggesting he had been insensitive about her father's death.

YEMEN WAR: Children Dead After Sanaa Air Strike

At least 14 people, including children, have been killed after an air strike hit a residential area of Yemen's capital, Sanaa.

Witnesses said two buildings in the south of the city, which is controlled by Houthi rebels, had been destroyed.

Saudi-led forces have been fighting Shia Houthis - backed by Iran - for the last two years.

Thousands of civilians have died. The country is on the brink of famine and facing a cholera
outbreak.

The planes, thought to be from the Saudi-led Arab coalition which backs Yemen's government, hit the buildings in the southern district of Faj Attan, according to AFP.

Resident Mohammed Ahmad told the agency he had helped take nine bodies to the hospital.

"We extracted them one by one from under the rubble," he said. "Some of them were children from a single family."

Lady Who Enjoys Framing Up Men Over Sex & Rape For Attention Is Jailed 10 Years

A fantasist who made up bogus rape and sex assault claims against 15 men in three years for 'attention' has been jailed for 10 years.

Jemma Beale claimed to be a lesbian with 'no desire' to sleep with men, and lodged deceitful complaints to police that led to one of her victims, Mahad Cassim, serving two years in jail.

Beale, from west London, was even awarded £11,000 in compensation while Mr Cassim languished behind bars.

She told police Mr Cassim raped her after offering to give her a lift home - but in fact she got out of
the car and told him: 'Get your pants down.'

The 25-year-old would injure herself and use self-inflicted cuts and bruises against the 15 victims she falsely accused of sex attacks - including one who fled the country with his life in tatters.

She insisted she had been raped or attacked but after a five-week trial at Southwark Crown Court a jury of six men and five women took eight hours and 45 minutes to find her guilty of perjury and perverting the course of justice in July.

Sentencing her yesterday, Judge Nicholas Loraine-Smith said: 'This trial has revealed, what was then not obvious, that you are a very, very convincing liar and you enjoy being seen as a victim.

'The prosecution described your life as a "construct of bogus victimhood".' Unimaginable

Thai Ex-Pm Flees Country Ahead Of Court Verdict

Former Thai PM Yingluck Shinawatra has fled the country ahead of a verdict in her trial over a rice subsidy scheme, according to  multiple reports.

Sources in her party say she made the decision to leave unexpectedly, shortly before she was due to appear at the Supreme Court on negligence charges.

Her lawyers told the court she had been unable to attend because she was ill. But when she failed to appear, the court issued an arrest warrant for her and confiscated her bail.

Judges also postponed the verdict until 27 September.

Ms Yingluck has denied any wrongdoing in the scheme which cost Thailand billions of dollars. If
found guilty at the end of her two-year trial, she could be jailed for up to 10 years and permanently banned from politics.

Sources within Ms Yingluck's Puea Thai Party told Reuters that she had "definitely left Thailand" but did not give details of her whereabouts.

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, who heads Thailand's military government, said all routes out of the country were being closely monitored.

"I just learned that she did not show up [at court]," he told reporters. "I have ordered border checkpoints to be stepped up."

Deputy PM Prawit Wongsuwan initially said he had no information on Ms Yingluck's whereabouts but as he left a meeting in Bangkok he said: "It is possible that she has fled already."
