Saraki’s trial won’t end at CCT, says Melaye

Saraki’s trial won’t end at CCT, says Melaye

Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west, on Saturday said the alleged false assets declaration trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki will go from the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to the supreme court.

Speaking after the Rotary Club of Ilorin conferred an award on him, Melaye said it was evident that the trial was political.

He declared unalloyed support for Saraki, saying many senators were behind the nation’s number three citizen.

“One thing I want to assure Nigerians is that the trial of Saraki will not end in the CCT, but in the Supreme Court and we are with the Senate president until we get to the last bus stop,” he said.

“We are with him up till Supreme Court. Our support for the senate president is total and undiluted. This is a battle of no retreat, no surrender.”

He also spoke in a manner suggesting that there will be a showdown with the executive over the 2016 budget.

The lawmaker called on his colleagues to ensure full implementation of the budget.

“What is more important is not the signing of the budget but its implementation. May we never see a situation where only 30 per cent of capital projects is implemented,” he said.

“I am using this opportunity to plead with my colleagues in the national assembly to make sure that our committees function properly and do a very holistic oversight and see to the implementation of this budget and pray that the executive becomes born again by doing the right thing.

“We look forward to making sure that the national assembly with all sincerity of purpose carries out monitoring of the MDAs to make sure that this budget is properly implemented.”

This is not the first time that Melaye will declare open support for Saraki.

Last month, he said only death can prevent him from supporting the senate president.

Woman To Spend Two Years In Prison For Having Noisy Sex!

Woman To Spend Two Years In Prison For Having Noisy Sex!

A woman has been sentenced to jail for harassing her neighbors with loud noises during sex for two years.

The culprit, Amanda Marie Warfel from Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and harassment charges for shouting racial slurs at her neighbors after they complained about her furniture shaking during “loud” sex in the adjacent unit.

Tanya Saylor, the complainant called the police on March 21 to complain that her neighbor was loudly fornicating and banging around her bedroom such that her own bed shook.

According to usatoday.com report, Saylor told the police that she asked Warfel to pipe down because her teenage daughters had school in the morning.
“They don’t sleep well at night. There’s constantly inappropriate things that go on in her bedroom,” she said.

Warfel, 25 had reportedly responded to the mother-of-five’s request by screaming “racist comments” at them through a shared wall.

According to reports, after her terminally ill husband and five children — one of whom has cancer — dealt with the noise for two years, Saylor finally had enough and alerted authorities when the dispute got worse.

“Warfel called my children monkeys and offers them bananas,” Saylor said. “It was a daily thing until she went to prison.”

Saylor is white, but her husband and daughter are black. Though it wasn’t the racial comments that made her alert authorities, it was because of the severe impact the dispute was having on her family.

According to reports, the harassment got to a point where Saylor had to provide headphones for her children in order to block out the naughty noise from Warfel.

“She harassed my kids for two years. I shouldn’t have let it go that long. I should have started calling the police a year ago,” she said.

Warfel, who was on probation for a previous felony prison assault, was sentenced to 45 to 90 days in jail in York County Prison

OMG: Bride Kidnapped Days After Surviving Acid Attack By Rejected Suitor (pic)

Bride Kidnapped Days After Surviving Acid Attack By Rejected Suitor (pic)

Fatima Audu

Hell has no fury like a woman scorned, so goes a popular saying. But in the case of 19-year-old Fatima Audu, a trader, who recently got married in Lagos, the fury of a man rejected can equally be lethal.

Audu’s case brings to the fore the rarely reported cases of violence suffered by young women in the hand of men whose marriage proposal they reject.

With a narrative that bears some resemblance to the case of 30-year-old Oluwatosin Ashinwo, who Saturday PUNCH reported last week to have been murdered in Ilorin, Kwara State by a rejected lover, Audu has been extremely lucky.
Page 2
In an unnamed street in a suburb of Lagos on Thursday, our correspondent paid a visit to Audu in a house that has come to be her hideout.

She pleaded with our correspondent not to mention the name of the street of her current abode.

Fearing for her life, the young lady is lying low, away from the violent man who made one attempt on her life and also kidnapped her in the last one month.

Speaking in fluent English that has little traces of her Hausa tongue, Audu, a Kano State indigene who was born and bred in Lagos, told our correspondent that a young man named Mohammed, whose age she put between 23 and 25 once professed love to her and asked for her hand in marriage.

“I know Mohammed but I did not know much about his personal life. He is from Maiduguri in Borno State. We were friends and he always told me he wanted to marry me. But I always turned him down. We parted ways and I did not see him for a while. I had even forgotten about him,” Audu told our correspondent.
Page 3
But if Audu had forgotten about Mohammed, obviously the flame of rejection still burn with excruciating pain in the heart of the young man who is said to live in either Lekki or Ikoyi.

On Wednesday, March 30, three days to Audu’s wedding, which was to take place on April 2, the unexpected happened.

Audu said, “I went down the street to buy something around 9pm (around her mother’s house) that day and while standing there, I saw a motorcycle approach with a passenger at the back. I saw one of the two young men on the motorcycle holding a cup as they stopped beside me. I did not think much of it. I just thought he was holding a cup of tea.

“One of them then asked me if I was Fatima, I turned and said yes. He said, ‘Someone sent me to you.’ I asked him who and he did not answer, he just poured the content of the cup on me.

“But as he raised the cup to pour it, I quickly turned my face and the content poured on my arm. I thought he had poured hot tea on me. The worst I could think of was hot water.”

As Audu’s attackers fled on the bike, the young woman’s arm began to burn. Her first instinct was to race to the hospital.

“I did not know what it was but I started feeling the burns. It was when I got to the hospital that I realised that the man on the motorcycle had poured acid on me,” she said.

Despite Audu’s lucky escape from the attack that could have disfigured her forever, she still sustained some nasty burn injuries on her right arm.
Page 4
After the attack, then some calls started coming in.

Audu said she started getting calls from someone who had sounded exactly like the young man who poured the acid on her.

Audu’s sister-in-law, who was holding her phone the day after the attack, told our correspondent that when she picked the call, the caller said, “Do you know who attacked you last night?” thinking that he was addressing Audu, the owner of the phone.

Audu who later heard the voice of the caller confirmed that it sounded the same with that of the young man who had attacked her.

“The caller said that the attack was just the beginning. I got married as scheduled but after the wedding, the calls continued. The same caller continued to call with anonymous numbers, threatening me for marrying my husband.

“He said he would come for me and kill me. Then on Monday April 25, I got a call from another anonymous caller, this time it was not from the voice I recognised. The person said he was my husband’s relation; he said he had been trying to call my husband but his number was not going through. The caller said two of them were on their way to our house to visit us.

“I called my husband who was away at work at the time but his number did not go through truly. I then called my own family and they said if the callers actually said they were my husband’s relations, I should welcome them and entertain them.”

Unfortunately for Audu, she let the strangers in into her new home and as she set water and refreshment before them, one of them brought out a knife and a lighter and told her to cooperate.
Page 5
They then informed her that someone had sent them to bring her. The strangers said they had been instructed to kill her if she raised the alarm.

Shaking with fright, Audu followed the men into a waiting white Golf car they parked outside.

Audu said, “They took me to Ikeja. I remember seeing the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. We went past it and turned left into a street, where they kept me in an uncompleted building around 7pm that day.

“They said they would kill me there and I began to beg them. But they said the man who sent them would come soon. About one hour later, the man came. It was Mohammed.”

According to the young woman, she could not believe her eyes that Mohammed had been the one behind the attack all along.
She said she began to beg him but he said the only thing that could save her from death was to leave her husband.

“He gave me my phone that they had collected earlier. I was told to call my family and apologise for my intention to leave my husband. I called my brother but while I was speaking with him and he was asking where I was, Mohammed snatched the phone. I began to beg him again and finally pleaded with him that I would do as he wished. I told him I would leave my husband,” she said.

Audu said Mohammed and his goons later left her alone in the room and told her they were watching her. They then dared her to raise the alarm, threatening to cut her throat. She said they left her to sleep till morning.
Page 6
The following day, with assurance that she would actually leave her husband, Audu got her phone back and was released.

Mohammed told her he would come after her if she told anybody his identity or if she failed to leave her husband.

She would later call one of her siblings who came to pick her at Ikeja bus stop.
She said she still remembered the uncompleted building but not the name of the street.

According to her description, it is likely Audu was taken to an uncompleted building in GRA Ikeja. The police at the Abbatoir Division, Agege, where the case was reported said they would be visiting the location described by Audu on Friday as part of the investigation to track down Mohammed and his cohorts.

Nobody could really tell our correspondent what the suspect does for a living.

All Audu could offer was his description as a slim, dark young man of about five feet eight inches height. She said he has no tribal marks.

At the moment, she is living in fear of the unknown, unable to go back to her husband’s house in Oko-Oba Agege, where she was kidnapped.

Gov. Fayose Fires Missiles at EFCC for Surrounding Femi Fani-Kayode's House

Gov. Fayose Fires Missiles at EFCC for Surrounding Femi Fani-Kayode's House

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State

The fearless governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has released another set of missiles at the EFCC and President Muhammadu Buhari for using the agency to victimise political opponents.

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has lambasted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for persistently harassing Nigerians as he described the continued detention without trial of Warimopei Dudafa, a former Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and invasion of the Abuja residence of former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode as irresponsible, barbaric and undemocratic.

Fayose blasted the EFCC under Buhari as a thug agency used to threaten and harass innocent citizens. He frowned at the way the agency conducts its activities as if it is above the law.

He described the recent invasion of Fani-Kayode's house the EFCC as executive rascality reminding them that soon the Buhari administration will come to pass and they will have to answer for their deeds.

He made the observation through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka.

“EFCC under President Mohammadu Buhari is acting as if it is above the law and Nigerians and the international community must remind the commission that we are in a democracy where rule of law is sacrosanct.” he said.

Fayose accused the agency of being the government's instrument of victimisation against the opposition party in Nigeria.

“The EFCC must be reminded of the judgement delivered in March, this year by Justice Yusuf Haliru of the Federal High Court in Nicholas Arinse Vs EFCC & Nigerian Army where the judge held that the EFCC did not behave as if we were in a civilised society and that the anti-graft commission was behaving as if we were in a military dictatorship, where they arrest and release person at will.

“In the case of the former Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Jonathan, no one is saying those suspected of corrupt practices should not be investigated and tried, but it is wrong for Warimopei Dudafa to have been kept in EFCC custody for over two weeks without trial.

“Also, it is a demonstration of barbarism for the same EFCC that invited Fani-Kayode to its office on Monday to have invaded his house yesterday, holding the occupants hostage for eight hours when there is no evidence that Fani-Kayode refused to honour EFCC invitation.

“Why the show of barbarism by the EFCC as if Nigeria is now back to 1984 when Buhari was a military dictator?”

He further revealed that democracy in Nigeria is becoming unsafe in the hands of Buhari’s government. He accused the EFCC of being bais and supportive of the APC-led government.

Fayose asked why several petitions written against APC leaders and financiers of President Buhari’s election, including former governors have been left untreated. He lambasted the EFCC and the Department of State Services (DSS) for becoming President Buhari’s instrument of political victimisation.

Fashola.. Minister promises increased power supply soonest

Speaking at an event in Lagos recently, Fashola said that every megawatt of electricity supply is harnessed and made available to the people in more quantity.

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has assured the populace of an increased power supply.

According to a report by Punch Newspaper, Fashola noted that with the new roadmap designed by his ministry, the assurance is guaranteed.

Speaking at an event in Lagos recently, Fashola said that every megawatt of electricity supply is harnessed and made available to the people in more quantity.

In his words, “I believe we must depart from the routes we had previously travelled if we must overcome the electricity challenge and I am optimistic that we can.

'In charting the roadmap for change, I am of the view that we must first tell ourselves what is wrong. The simplest way I can put it is to say that we do not have enough power.

'Since 1950 when the Electricity Corporation of Nigeria, the predecessor of National Electric Power Authority and Power Holding Company of Nigeria, was created, the maximum energy we have generated stands at 5,074 MW, which was achieved in February 2016 this year. This is not enough to power a country whose population is in the hundreds of millions and is still growing,' he said.

However, Fashola said for the incremental power supply to work, every wrong which had been done in the power sector before his appointment had to be corrected.

Ruth says she was grossly misinterpreted as she had only expressed her admiration of Genevieve's supreme acting qualities. She says she sees Genevieve as a role model, and that her love fro her has not even diminished tiil date.

“I am not a lesbian and I can never be a lesbian. My mother is a devout Christian and she is an evangelist. I can never be a lesbian. I lost a four-year old relationship because of that interview.

I never said that; all I said in the interview was that I love Genny very much and I still love her till date. I don’t care about what anybody says. I don’t judge anyone whether they are a lesbian or not. It is between you and God because the Bible says we should not judge.”

Ruth Eze

Acording to Ruth, her ex did not believe her side of the story, and she felt really bad when he refused to trust her even when she told him what truly happened.

“If you are my boyfriend and you cannot stand by me in times of little trouble, what would happen when something big comes? What if it was published later in my career that I was caught in bed with a man and the story turned out to be false eventually? It means he would leave me and my kids when I get married to him. I should not marry someone like that. I have been tagged a controversial actress and you have to stand by me and if you cannot, then you have to go."

The actress, now single, is hoping to get somebody better, who would be ready to trust her in similar situations, given the kind of profession she chose.

Panic as Two Witches Drop Dead During Church Service After Drinking 'Holy Water'

Two mothers accused of witchcraft and forcefully dragged to a man of God, have died after drinking holy water during church service.

Panic as Two Witches Drop Dead During Church Service After Drinking 'Holy Water'

Illustrative photo

Two elderly women suspected to be witches have died after they were forced to drink holy water. The two elderly women from Zimbabwe died after their children Joshua Bhebhe and his cousin Edica Mutero from Gokwe forced their mothers Erita Bhebhe (76)and Jessy Mutero (age unknown) respectively to attend a church service where they were made to drink water which marked the end of their lives.

According to B-Metro, soon after drinking the water and holding the prophet’s “holy” stick, they collapsed and died at Baba Wechishanu Wenguwo Tsvuku Church.

Prophet Pira, the church leader and custodian had initially said if the women drank the water they would die if they were witches but live if they were not.

The tragedy happened, they died.

However, things got bad as the two cousins tried to hide the matter out of shame and guilt from the people. The got into trouble.

“Joshua and Edica tried to cover up the issue after realising that their mothers died at church. They took them home leaving each one of them in her kitchen hut,” said a family source.

But the striking resemblance of their death stories became suspicious and their grandchildren smelt a rat.

“The grandchildren, realising that there was something wrong, told neighbours who then confirmed them dead and alerted other family members.

“The other children, hearing what had transpired prior to their mothers’deaths reported the matter to the police and their corpses were taken for post-mortem in Bulawayo.

The results revealed that the two women died of poisoning,”added the family source.

As a result, the police were invited and the two cousins were interrogated. They told the whole truth.

“Joshua and Edica were picked up by police for questioning and they revealed that their mothers died after drinking water which was given to them by Prophet Pira,” added the source.

When the Prophet Pira heard the news of police arrest, he fled to an unknown place.

Villagers said that the two families (Bhebhe and Mutero) were at loggerheads because of the issue. Edica also fled after his mother’s burial because his siblings vowed never to forgive him for his part.

Joshua who remained behind narrated how their mothers ended up being taken to Pira. “My daughter had been ill for some time so I decided to seek help from Prophet Pira ,” he said.

He added: “Prophet Pira prayed for her and prophesied that there were witches in the family .I invited my mother and aunt to our church and when we got there the prophet told them they were witches, but they denied.

“He then told them that he would make them drink holy water and if they were witches they would die instantly and that is what happened,” he said.

According to Joshua, he is yet to grasp what had happened. He also doesn't understand why Prophet Pira had to run away.
“Prophet Pira ran away and that leaves me with a lot of unanswered questions and worse the poison issue makes it more complicated.

“We are no longer on talking terms with my siblings except for one sister who phoned saying she had forgiven me,” said Joshua.

Erita Bhebhe’s grandchildren now live alone and the eldest is Elson Mutero aged 18. Elson revealed that their uncle Joshua did not care or help them with anything.

“After granny’s death, uncle Joshua does not come to visit us or help us in any way,we just fend for ourselves and our mother works in Chivi and rarely comes here,” he said.

Fake Naval officer, Captain Olugboyega Olubiyi Ayokunle

Nigerians have been warned to be vigilant as a fake Naval officer is on the loose duping people of their hard earned money.

The Nigerian Navy on Monday declared wanted a certain “Captain Olugboyega Olubiyi Ayokunle” for impersonating the Force and illegal possession of firearms.

Olugboyega was reported to have collected N100,000 mobilisation fee from Olugbemiga Ayeni to investigate an alleged fraudulent deal involving another naval personnel identified as Prince Ayeni.

But the Navy in a statement issued on Monday by Director of Naval Information, Commodore Chris Ezekobe, described Olugboyega as an impostor, adding that the said Prince Ayeni was also not a naval personnel.

The statement said, “In view of the report and a formal complaint forwarded to the Naval Headquarters by Olugbemiga Ayeni on the behavior of the said “Captain Olugboyega Olubiyi Ayokunle,” the Nigerian Navy carried out a thorough investigation on the identity of the names mentioned and discovered that the men who are parading as officers of the Nigerian Navy are Imposters.

“To this end, the Nigerian Navy wishes to state categorically that the said Prince Aderemi is not a naval rating as alleged.

“Also the Olugboyega Olubiyi Ayokunle is not a Nigerian Navy officer. The naval uniform insignia worn by the suspect is fake as such not that of the Nigerian Navy.

“Therefore he cannot be serving in the Western Naval Command of the Niigerian Navy as alleged in the news report.

“Consequently, the said “Captain O.A Olugboyega is a wanted person by the Nigerian Navy for offences ranging from impersonation and illegal possession of fire arms as shown in the attached pictures.

“The general public is advised to henceforth desist from dealing with the imposters who claim to be in the Service of the Nigerian Navy, as the Service will not be responsible for their fraudulent activities.

“When and wherever sighted, they should be apprehended and handed over to the nearest Naval or military formation for prompt action.”

Singer Omawunmi Forgives Interviewer, Breaks Silence On Smoking Allegation

Omawumi

Omawumi has finally opened up on her disastrous interview after appearing as a guest on “Da Chat” with Zinnia, a show produced by HF TV.
The “If You Ask Me” crooner has revealed that she has forgiven Zinnia for basically putting her morality to question after she had alleged that Omawumi is a smoker.

Omawumi had not surprised anyone when she had stormed out of the interview set after being asked about the effect of her smoking in public, knowing that she is a role model to many.

The singer who had been visibly upset, had asked the interviewer for proof that she smoked, of which Zinnia could not produce any
Omawumi has now revealed that although she is upset, she has decided to let the incident go, as she just wants to have fun rather than attend rehearsals.

She made the revelation via her Instagram page, where she shared a video of the cartoon, ‘Frozen’, with the caption:

“Arms open wide like my daughter singing loudly ‘Let it go’ Mood. I’m supposed to rehearse today but I’m thinking of doing something fun.”
Of course, Omawumi would not be the first to storm out of an interview following an upsetting question and many have shown support for her action.

Now, here’s the twist!

Our reporters spoke to medical doctors about this test result to find out what it really means.

According to a medical practitioner who spoke on the condition of anonymity, ‘If a person’s blood is tested for cocaine or other hard drugs 24 hours after use, nothing may be found in such a test. The same thing applies if it was a urine test; after 4 days of using such drugs and you go for a test, nothing may be found’.

‘Why Tiwa Savage’s hubby tested negative to cocaine’ – Medical expert tells

He continued to explain that, ‘In the case of a chronic user, if the test is done after one week of the last intake of such drug it may come out negative too. The only way to detect use of hard drugs is to test the hair of such a person because the drug can stay in the hair for several months’.

With this, it is not exactly clear which is the truth between Tiwa Savage’s claims and her hubby’s test results.

Boko Haram Now Depends on Unripe Mangoes for Survival - Army Spokesman Reveals

Boko Haram Now Depends on Unripe Mangoes for Survival - Army Spokesman Reveals

Military troops in action against insurgency

Some members of the Boko Haram sect, who have surrendered to the Nigeria army, say the insurgents are now surviving on roots and mangoes.

According to Sani Usman, the Nigerian Army spokesman, some members of the Boko Haram sect, who have surrendered to the Nigeria army, say the insurgents are now surviving on roots and mangoes, adding that seven insurgents confessed that their former colleagues had run out of food.

A statement by Usman read;

“Quite a number of Boko Haram terrorists have continued to surrender. Yesterday, out of 16 male adults that came along with their families to troop’s from Balazala and Ahamdaga Makaranta villages in the Dure district, seven of them confessed to be Boko Haram terrorist members.

“However, on proper interrogation, the suspects confirmed to be Boko Haram terrorists with some of them having specialized trade and status.

“Three of them were Ameers (leaders) in the Boko Haram terrorist group’s hierarchy; for instance, Hamidu Buba was found to be the Ameer  (leader) of tailors, while Musa Buba  is Ameer of mechanics and Ali Idrissa, an Ameer of  carpenters. The others confessed to be ‘Rijan’ (fighters), adding that they have participated in various Boko Haram attacks on so many villages and towns. They further stated that the ongoing crackdown operation is really taking its toll on them as they can barely survive.

“As a matter of fact, they confessed that they were all fed up with the situation which has become worse as a result of Operation Crackdown. They also stated that the Boko Haram terrorists have ran out of food and they now survive on roots and unripe mangoes. They also said two of their members sent for food were killed at Frigi crossing point some days earlier by troops.”

The statement added that troops had cleared many camps of the insurgents.

“Troops of 26 and 223, battalions, army headquarters strike group and armed forces special forces have continued offensive operations in furtherance of Operation Crackdown.

“The troops have cleared remnants of Boko Haram in Izza and  Njima general area. Although they did not encounter any Boko Haram terrorists, there were noticeable fresh footprints, motorcycle and bicycle tyre marks in the seemingly abandoned places," he said.

I've Lost Count of People I've Killed - Confessions of a Notorious Cultist and Kidnapper

I've Lost Count of People I've Killed - Confessions of a Notorious Cultist and Kidnapper

Tamuno

Newsmen were on Friday left shocked when a notorious cultist and kidnapper confessed that he had lost count of the number of persons he had killed before his arrest by men of the Rivers State Police Command.

A suspected cultist and kidnapper shocked newsmen on Friday when he confessed that he had lost count of the number of persons he had killed before his arrest by men of the Rivers State Police Command.

The suspect identified as Mitchel Tamuno, the leader of a cult group, was apprehended by the police in connection with the alleged kidnap on April 14 of a 14-old-old girl.

The girl (name withheld) was said to have been raped by her captors, including Mitchel before she eventually escaped from them.

Narrating why he was arrested by the police, Mitchel explained that he was only involved in killing of members of rival cult groups and did not shed “innocent blood”.

Mitchel, who insisted that he could no longer remember the number of persons he had killed, stated that he purchased the four AK 47 rifles used for operation by members of his cult group (Icelander) from one Ifeanyi in Aba, Abia State.

He added that the guns were used to kill some members of rival cult group (Greenlanders) so as to avenge the killing of  members of his own group.

Mitche, who promised to go back to his fish farming business if freed, said, “I have never shed innocent blood. We only kill people that come to kill us because we know the people we are fighting. The AK 47 rifles that were recovered belong to us as a group. I bought them from one Mr. Ifeanyi in Aba, Abia State. He sold the first two to us at N250,000 each and the second batch of two for N280,000 each.

“We only have four guns in our possession. We use the guns to fight our opponents. Our opponents are the Greenlanders and we fight for supremacy. I have never killed anybody and cut the head. Those who behead do so because they want the other group to feel the pain.

“When you come, you see your friend dead and without a head, you feel the pain. The fight is not on a daily basis. When we get information about them, we go after them and when they (rival cult group) get information about us, they come after us too. I have lost count of how many people I have killed because they all happened on different occasions.”

A member of the gang, who gets information for the kidnap gang, Godwin Pina, denied being a member of any cult group, but only gave information on how to kidnap the 14-year-old girl.

Pina, a 23-year-old labourer, disclosed that the girl that was kidnapped was her neighbour, adding that he became worried when he learnt from the gang members that their victim had escaped.

“They (gang members) called me that the girl had run away. One of my friends, who is at large (Bobo mi) informed me that the girl ran away. I regret my action. Francis, Bobomi and Collins also kidnapped Madam Lizzy.

“I am only involved in the kidnap of the girl, but I did not take part in raping her. Mitchel is our number one man in our group,” Pina added while appealing to the police for forgiveness.

Speaking on the arrested men, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Muhammad, said Pina was arrested while he went to the bank to withdraw the N50,000 their victim’s father paid into their (kidnappers) account.

Muhammad explained that Pina was able to give the police information that led to the arrest of Mitchel and other gang members, adding that four AK 47 rifles were recovered in the course of investigation.

He pointed out that the command would not relent in its determination to arrest criminals in the state and bring them to book, adding that the command in the month of April arrested 70 suspected kidnappers, cultists and armed robbers.

Muhammad added that 25 suspects were killed during a shootout with policemen while 11 AK 47 rifles and 17 assorted illicit firearms, 480 different calibres of ammunition were recovered from the suspected criminals.

On how Mitchel’s gang’s victim was able to escape, he said the girl escaped with a ladder she sighted within an uncompleted building where she was held hostage, recalling that four of the kidnappers, who raped her, were fast asleep when the victim escaped.

He said, “She (victim) then followed the sound of vehicles she was hearing from the road and got to the main road, saw a man driving a car, waved the car down and told the driver that she escaped from kidnappers’ den.

“She appealed to the driver of the car to help her call her father, who is a pastor in Bayelsa State. The Good Samaritan called the father of the victim and told him the development and the father directed the man to take her daughter to any nearby police station.

“Before then, the kidnappers had already put a call across to the father of their victim, demanding for ransom of N10m. They equally forwarded an account number detail to the victim’s father.

“One of the kidnapers (Godwin Pina) went to the bank immediately he noticed that the sum of N50,000 had been paid into the account for the upkeep of their victim, pending when the ransom demanded would be raised.

"When the suspected was arrested, he then opened up that their boss, Mitchel, was staying in Okrika. Then the Anti-kidnapping unit moved to Abam in Okrika and arrested Mitchel and 10 other boys in his house.

“Two AK 47 rifles were recovered from him. On interrogation, he (Mitchel) said he had other two AK 47 rifles with one Iyalla Appolos somewhere in Azubokwe. We moved in there and Iyalla was arrested and the two AK 47 rifles were recovered from him,” Muhammad added.

Shocking! How the Most Wanted Robbery Kingpin, TK was Gunned Down in Lagos (Photo)

Shocking! How the Most Wanted Robbery Kingpin, TK was Gunned Down in Lagos (Photo)

Tokiwe Joseph alias TK

This is the unbelievable story of how the most notorious robbery kingpin in Lagos, TK was gunned down after he nearly wrecked the state.

The most wanted robbery kingpin who destroyed many lives, robbed banks, stole millions of naira and lived life like he was invincible paid for his sins in a cruel manner. This is the story the most wanted and notorious armed robber and militant, Tokiwe Joseph aka TK.

The story of this notorious criminal has been shared by SunNewsOnline.

******************************************

It is no longer news that the inglorious era of the most wanted militant in Lagos, Tokiwe Joseph aka TK was recently brought to an end by the joint effort of security operatives from Lagos and Benin Republic. What is unknown to many Lagosians are the many sides to the TK saga in spite of his exploits. Noted for his reign of terror through armed robbery and kidnapping in the Lagos area, TK was gunned down at the Seme border during a foiled robbery attempt.

Saturday Sun, which hitherto, in one of its previous editions had exposed TK’s plot to seek government amnesty, also gathered details the tragic end of the armed robber, the confession of Oz the suspect who planned the foiled robbery attempt and TK’s links with Tompolo.

The foiled robbery
The man who initiated the idea to raid banks and bureau de change offices at Seme border, Ozoemena Obi, popularly known as Oz confessed to the police that after the attack on banks in Agbara and the death of the Department of State Security (DSS) operatives and others, security around the creeks in Lagos state was beefed up. “Nothing much was coming from pipeline vandalisation because there were many interests involved.

Soldiers have taken over the place and to penetrate its ranks, you have to bribe heavily. Those, whose palms must be greased include the police, members of the civil defence corps and private securitya operatives before you can operate in the area. For some of us who were not into heavy movement, we could not cope.

“This was why I went back to Seme borders to do what I knew how to do best. We are the ones who smuggled goods into the country from Seme. There are designated routes that Police, Immigration and Customs pretend do not exist. I was a trusted friend of TK and anytime there was any job, he would alert me.

“After the soldiers took over everywhere, things became difficult and we were desperate to make money or we would die of hunger in the creeks. I have a friend, Mike who was based in Seme, he told me about the Bureau de change and banks at Seme border. He asked if I have friends with plenty of guns who could rob them. I told him that I have a friend who was responsible for many of the bank robbery incidents in Lagos and Ogun states. So, I called TK and we agreed to meet at Okokomaiko bus stop.

“In February, we finally agreed to meet with him at the designated bus stop. He drove to the spot on a motorcycle and Mike explained everything to him but he decided that I should go back and reconfirm if his claim was true or not. He gave me 100 dollars as a decoy so that I could change the money at the t bureau de change. I went there and pretended that I was looking for a good deal, I moved from one shop to another. I called him on phone and confirmed to him that what Mike said was true. The amount of dollars that I saw there was so much that I told TK that if he did not make up to one billion naira there, he should not give me a dime as my share.

“He was excited and we started planning how the operation would be carried out. He suggested that he wanted to come by road and I warned him that the road was very tight. I observed that there were so many security men everywhere, and our major challenge would be how to move arms across the border. I remembered one of my people who used to drive a truck and I promised to convince the man to move the arms for me. He refused when he heard that it was only 12 pieces of AK47 and two explosives. I begged him for days but he refused, So, I alerted TK about the situation. TK called and threatened to deal with him should anyone hear about the plan. When we discovered that it would be difficult, Mike suggested that they should go on water and that he knew the way very well. The initial plan was for them to enter Seme on Tuesday night, seek where to sleep and strike in the following morning shortly after the banks and bureau the change operators had opened shop. I was hoping that the operation would be a great hit.

“We also visited a native doctor who assured us that as long as his barefoot did not touch the ground, he would not be killed during the operation. Unfortunately, I was arrested by the police on the D-day. I refused to tell the police the truth because I knew that anyone who dared to disclose he knew TK would be in trouble. I lied because I wanted to live. I thank God that police arrested me, if not I would have been dead like TK,” he disclosed.

Begging for mercy, Chibuke Nwokoro, the truck driver swore that he kept the secret because he was threatened. He admitted that he knew Oz because he worked at the border and they had moved a lot of goods across the border together.

“He called me that he wanted me to help him transport 12 pieces of AK47 guns. I refused because I knew the implication, if caught. It was easier to get away from Customs if they catch me with contraband goods. For more than two weeks, he was pestering me to work with them but I refused. I even spoke with TK and explained to him that I don’t smuggle arms. He threatened to kill me if he heard it anywhere. I kept quiet because I did not want to die young,” he said.

How he was arrested
On his arrest, Saturday Sun gathered that Lagos State Police Command was placed on red alert on the possibility that there was going to be a bank robbery by TK and his gang members. Undercover detectives from Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and Police Border Patrol were deployed to be on alert. Inspector General of Police also deployed officers from his Special Intelligence Response Team (SIRT) to assist in providing intelligence on the activities of TK. Their counterparts from Republic of Benin were also alerted in case they entered their country.

On the D-day, being Tuesday, March 15, TK and 17 others embarked on the journey of no return. He hired two boats, more than 11 AK47 rifles, GPMG (General Purpose Machine Guns) and explosives. On getting to the border at about 11pm on that day, they were said to have anchored their boats and attempted to cross over on foot.

Armed Customs operatives who were also on alert observed about 15 men attempting to cross the border in a group. They were said to have flashed their torchlight at them and discovered that they were all armed. The vigilant Custom officers immediately opened fire but the armed men fled unaware of the location of the attackers.

TK and three others, who were ahead of the team fled into a nearby village. Security operatives who were in the vicinity also joined in the shootout. They gunned down the armed men except TK and three others.

It was gathered that TK whose main concern was to stay alive hid himself in the forest while he waited for the situation to calm down. The foiled robbery attempt went viral on the sosituation to calm down. The foiled cial media and was reported on TV stations as a result of which his informants alerted him. Unknown to him, the village he ran to also heard of the robbery attempt and that some of the suspects fled to the village.
Everyone were therefore, on the look out for any new face within the area. Unfortunately, when TK and others stepped out of the forest, they were spotted by hunters who accosted them. However, TK who could speak Yoruba language tried to convince the hunters that they were passersby, but the others could not. Then, the villagers decided to take them to the nearest police station/ border patrol to confirm who they were. As soon as TK spotted the security operatives, he resisted arrest by pulling out his pistol but he was gunned down by the security men.

TK’s exploits
An indigene of Ondo State, TK’s name entered the wanted list of the Police as far back as 2012 when three employees of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC who had gone to repair ruptured pipelines were missing. Two months later, the decaying corpses of the NNPC officials were found buried by suspected pipeline vandals in Arepo forest, Ogun State.

The Police Special Task Force on Anti-Pipeline Vandalism under the leadership of ACP Friday Ibadin then recovered bullet-ridden bodies of the workers, identified as a Deputy Manager in charge of Pipelines Right of Way and two other engineers deployed in the area to repair a damaged pipeline on September 5, 2012.

Six suspects identified as Posibi Ruben, Imerepmamu Joel, John Isaiah, Saheed Mudashiru, Ineye Okpose and Timi Gnungunu, who were hitherto, arrested in the course of investigation, alleged that TK, an Ijaw man, was the leader of the most popular camp within the area known as Fatola.

Names like Ossy and Igbekorowa were also mentioned as his deputies in the camp. Security operatives were kept busy within the axis following repeated cases of pipeline vandalization and fire outbreaks. Hundreds of suspected vandals perished during numerous encounters with security operatives while those who were caught alive confirmed that TK, Ossy and Igbekorowa were alive and much in control.

Not left out in harvest of deaths were security operatives on patrol who were gunned down and their corpses dragged into the creeks for burial.
Till date, the remains of the nine mobile policemen who were allegedly killed by TK and his men in 2013 have not been found.

Shortly after that incident, he mysteriously disappeared and the killing of security men subsided a bit. Unknown to security operatives, he was arrested the same year by the police because he was found in possession of arms.

Since his face was not known to anyone, he was charged to court bearing an unknown name.
Ossy and Igbekorowa automatically took over the leadership of the creeks but limited their activities to breaking pipelines and siphoning PMS.
Sometime in December 2014, TK was granted bail and released from Kirikiri prisons. As expected, TK jumped bail and went back to the creeks to take over leadership. That attempt did not go down well with Ossy who had been in control while he was in prison.

For peace to reign, TK moved down to Ijagemo area in Amuwo Odofin and quickly took over leadership while those who trusted in his leadership in the past, joined him over there. He regularly visited Fatola camp and was said to have sold the idea of robbing and kidnapping people to Ossy and Igbekorowa.

It was learnt that Ossy and Igbekorowa who happened to be ex-militants bought into the idea and decided to attack banks in Lagos. From Lekki, Ikorodu, Festac town and down to Agbara, TK led different robbery attacks on banks while some unfortunate Lagosians were kidnapped and made to pay huge ransom. The era of killing security operatives also returned. The Agbara robbery led to the arrest and death of so many gang leaders especially those who were hired from Delta State.

TK was particularly alarmed when detectives attached to SIRT tracked one of their commanders simply identified as Kelvin few days after the Agbara bank robbery.

Kelvin was arrested in Delta State after a wedding ceremony where he featured as the special guest of honour. The attempt to arrest him in the midst of his security details led to a serious shoot out and he sustained gunshot wounds. He was said to have given the names and details of all those who participated in the Lagos and Ogun bank robberies before he died of bullet wounds.

His confession led to the mass arrest of several members spread across the country including a serving army corporal who was alleged to have supplied TK arms from Maiduguri. Also arrested was a serving policeman who had since been dismissed and will soon be charged to court for selling arms from the police amoury to TK including one Millions, his well-trained sharp shooter.

Alarmed at the rate of arrests, TK who is married with children relocated his family to Delta State for safe keeping while he restricted his activities to the creeks.

Quest for amnesty
Seeking for the way out, TK contracted the services of a journalist based in Ondo State to write a story requesting that they were not considered during the amnesty program. The said journalist (names and media withheld) collected the sum of N1million as upfront payment for publication in three national dailies. The money which was part of his loot gotten from the bank robbery was handed over to the journalist through his bank account.

One of the suspects in police custody who were listed to among the amnesty programme beneficiaries said that they were advised to take pictures of themselves in the creeks holding guns. “We were even given uniforms to wear and snap pictures. It was the journalist who advised us to take the photograph. He said that was how Tompolo got amnesty and if he succeeds, TK would also be given an oil bloc as compensation. Despite all our efforts, the police were still arresting and arresting so many of our members.”

Meanwhile, a joint task force consisting of all the security operatives in the state was formed and every entry and exit points blocked. Soldiers took over the creeks and most of the vandals who could not survive in the creek fled. TK remained in his camp but sneaks in and out once in a while. He knew it would be suicidal for security men to enter the creeks because of the swampy terrain.

Gradually, he ran out of cash, the presence of the military around his base reduced the number of buyers of stolen PMS. His problem heightened when Tompolo, his former lord was declared wanted by the police.

It was reliably learnt that Tompolo, a fugitive ex-warlord who had since returned to the creeks advised TK to come down to Delta State, as it is safer for him and he could also start oil bunkering over there. Not willing to serve another man, TK stayed back while he gradually became broke.
Several attempts to attack banks in Epe and Badagry areas were repelled by security operatives before Oz, his loyal boy convinced him to embark on the operation that eventually cost him his life.

His women
TK was said to be popular among women because of his generosity. His major challenge was his inability to produce a male child but he loved his first and only legal wife who he moved out of Lagos when it was obvious that police were tracing family members of all his gang men.

He became worried and ordered one of his ladies to relocate his wife and three daughters down to Delta State.

The lady was tracked and picked up in Benin by policemen who were on the trail of TK. The lady, at the police station lamented that TK would never come out because she was arrested. “We are so many. I believe that he loves, this very one that gave birth to the three girls that is why he wanted to relocate them to Benin.”

Weeks ago, he got good news from one of his pregnant wives based in Ketu that she had given birth to a baby boy. Out of excitement, TK promised to buy a car for her and relocate her to a more suitable accommodation. On the day he was gunned down, his most loved woman called requesting for money.

TK told her that he was on a very important operation and that she should pray for his success. He assured her that he would shower her with money as soon as he returned. The lady said, “Yes dear, all the best.” But TK never returned to fulfill the promise.

When we heard gunshots inside the police station, we knew a commander had been arrested -Suspects
Still in shock were suspected robbers who knew and participated in several bank robberies with TK

Top on the list is Millions, who was arrested in Benin where he had relocated with his family. He insisted that the move was to rid himself of any possibility that the gang might contact him. “I gave my life to Christ on January 1 and that is the truth. In fact, I had completed plans with NDDC to get contract before I was arrested.

One thing I can say about TK was that he is a gallant warrior who protected the interest of his boys. I watched how he behaved and carried himself during the entire robbery incident especially in Festac Town. Even before I gave my life to Christ, I advised them all to change for good. Even if I was not caught, there was no way I would have joined them for this robbery.”

Next on the line was Dennis Njoku, the man who was alleged to be the brain behind all the explosives that they used during the bank robberies in 2015.

“I am from Imo State and my family members were embarrassed when they learnt that I was arrested. The truth is that I know Ossy a long time ago when he was a militant. The amount was tempting, so I agreed but I was only their driver throughout all the bank robberies. It was when I was arrested months after the robbery that I knew that there is nothing hidden under the sun.

“We were inside the cell when we heard several gunshots. My heart skipped because I knew that a great criminal had been arrested. Policemen were celebrating and later on, they announced to us that TK had been killed.” Other suspects, especially his arms suppliers fell on their knees begging for mercy. They all indirectly thanked God that they were not part of the robbery incident that led to the death of TK.

And CP Owoseni danced
As soon as it was confirmed that TK was amongst the dead, the Lagos State command burst into celebration. The last time such celebration took place in the command was when the notorious robbery kingpin, Abiodun Egunjobi a.k.a Godogodo was arrested in 2014.

The commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni who could not hide his excitement was spotted dancing when he got the news.

Still at large
Although TK had been eliminated, the policemen are is still on the trail of Ossy, Agballa, Kpekere and others who still control the Fatola camp. These ex-militants, are confirmed to have also participated in all the recent bank robberies and also aware of the various kidnap cases planned from the creeks.

Enugu massacre: How we planned attack in Kogi state – Suspect confesses

One Mohammed Zure, a suspected Fulani herdsman who allegedly took part in the recent mayhem unleashed on an Enugu community, has reportedly revealed how he and his syndicate planned and carried out the attack.

Zure, who is currently in custody at the Kogi state police command, reportedly told the Punch that the attack was planned in Kogi state, disclosing how members were recruited from different parts of the country to carry out the attack.

Recall that the rampaging herdsmen recently attacked Nimbo community, Uzo- Uwani local government area of Enugu state, killing about 50 people.

Zure was said to have been arrested after the police reportedly stumbled on a gory video of the Enugu massacre on his phone.

A police source, who pleaded anonymity said, “Zure was granted bail and because he needed someone to take him on bail, the investigating officer decided to switch on his phone.

“Out of curiosity, he decided to go through the content of the phone. It was in the process that he discovered horrible video clips of a murder scene.

“Everything changed immediately and he was taken back to the interrogation room where he later confessed that he was the one who took the video while they were slaughtering one of the victims during the Enugu killings.

“In the video, you could hear him shouting and saying in Hausa ‘I have killed you now. You think that you can kill Fulani herdsmen and go free’.

“He personally took the picture to show his family members that he was actually successful and participated in the killings,” the unnamed police source added, noting that Zure also confessed that over 100 Fulani herdsmen were recruited for the Enugu attack after being invited from over six states from across the federation.

The source continued, “He confessed that they were more than 100 and were selected from different states especially from Taraba , Kogi, Benue, Nasarrawa , Kastina , Niger and Kaduna states.

“He claimed that the people of Nimbo had killed so many of their people in the past and government did not do anything about it, adding that they also reported severally to Nimbo elders but they refused to investigate, that was why they decided to retaliate.

“Zure alleged that their people in Nimbo shared Kolanut to all cattle rearers across the country. What it signifies is that there is going to be an attack and everyone should send representatives to support them.

“The suspect alleged that this is their custom and has been existing. He was nominated to join them because he was born and raised in Enugu by his father who is also a herdsman,” the police source added.

Speaking further, the police source said two days before the attack, the suspects all gathered in a community in Kogi and perfected how they would execute the attack.

“The police has since commenced serious manhunt for the fleeing herdsmen who they believe have fled the eastern state since the attack,” the source was quoted to have said.
