A mother has left her family with untold joy after giving birth to her daughter's daughter with the help of medical science.

A mother has brought smiles to the face of her daughter by giving birth to her baby. The daughter who had a medical condition as a teenager which prevented her from being capable of carrying a baby to full bloom. Her mother has become her saving grace by giving birth to her daughter's baby.

This is how Dailymail reported the bravery of the woman.

When Alice Hohenhaus, 25, was just four-years-old, she was diagnosed with leukaemia. Despite going into remission at eight-years-old, she relapsed at nine and full body radiation meant she would later struggle to have children due to scar tissue.

Much to her shock, Alice fell pregnant naturally when she was 23, but tragically lost her little boy at 15 weeks - doctors advising her that complications with her uterus meant she would never be able to carry a baby to full term.

But Alice's mother, Theresa Hohenhaus, from Ipswich, Queensland, offered to step in as a surrogate for her daughter and keep her dreams of having a family alive.

'Alice already had the embryos and I thought "why not?",' Theresa, 46, told Daily Mail Australia.

'I thought I was too old and Alice didn't want me to do it at first but I had already almost lost Alice twice before - she hemorrhaged during her pregnancy and it was touch and go there for a while.

'Making her happy and seeing her happy now is worth it.'

Theresa, who is a mother-of-four and has fostered 50 children, became pregnant almost immediately.

'I said to Alice before I found out that I thought I was pregnant because I felt really sick. The next week we found out it was positive,' Theresa said.

'It was amazing and every appointment and scan from then on we went to together and cried together... we are very very close.'

From the word go, Theresa saw the growing baby as nothing but her grandson and gave birth to him on June 2nd.

'I would have to say it was the best experience of my whole life,' Theresa said.

'I was worried about how I would cope when I had him but I had him naturally and afterwards they place him on my tummy and I had the first cuddle while Alice cut the cord.

'It was so beautiful. I was worried about handing him over at first and Alice was worried about how she would cope seeing me in so much pain. But we both made it through and it is a moment I will honestly cherish until I die.'

Selena Rollason, their birth photographer, captured each moment of the emotional birth.

'Alice got in touch with me in February and shared the story with me. It was so intriguing and I couldn't believe the story was real,' Selena told Daily Mail Australia.

'After speaking with her over the phone I was absolutely fascinated... it was so incredibly special.

'As a mum myself it was one of those things that really spoke to my heart and the birth was so amazing to witness. I shed a tear or two myself and I really just can't put it into words, the atmosphere was electric and filled with emotions of relief and complete joy.'

Theresa said she has been speaking with Alice about being a surrogate for her again.

'I would absolutely do it again,' Theresa said.

'People are worried about the effort but I am in good health and it would be so lovely for Parker to have a brother or sister... I don't think we would donate that last embryo.

'I would do anything for my kids and it truly is worth every bit of it to see Alice so happy.'

On the day of the birth, Alice's brother James, 20, shared a special moment with his new nephew as without him, Parker wouldn't exist.

'When Alice was in remission doctors tested us and the children to see if we were bone marrow matches in case Alice relapsed... we weren't,' Theresa said, adding that they never expected their daughter to relapse.

'Doctors asked us whether we would consider having another baby to get a match and we didn't think twice, even though money was tight. Not long after, James was born.

'When Alice relapsed at nine they took bone marrow from James' hip and that saved Alice's life. Without him we wouldn't have Alice or Parker today.'

'James shed a tear when he met Parker,' Theresa said, 'it was such a special moment.'
