BEYONCE FINALLY OPENS UP ON SUPER BOWL ‘FORMATION’ PERFORMANCE

Beyonce

Superstar singer, Beyonce has finally spoken up about her controversial 2016 Super Bowl performance in February and says she respects the police but she’s against police brutality.

Queen Bey caused quite an uproar with the release of her music video ‘Formation’ last two months, with many saying it had an ‘anti-police’ message.

In her new interview with Elle Magazine (May Issue), the 34-year-old insisted she is against police brutality, not officers in general.
“I’m proud of what we created and I’m proud to be a part of a conversation that is pushing things forward in a positive way,”she told the mag.

Not too surprised by the reaction, Beyonce added: “I mean, I’m an artist, and I think the most powerful art is usually misunderstood.”

However, she did seem taken aback by the fact that she was being labeled as ‘anti-police,’ which is a position with which she does not side. “I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers who sacrifice themselves to keep us safe. But let’s be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice. Those are two separate things,” she explained.

“If celebrating my roots and culture during Black History Month made anyone uncomfortable, those feelings were there long before a video and long before me,” she added.

Her response came after many – despite a largely positive reaction as well – took issue with Beyonce’s new single, calling it ‘anti-police.’

The criticism only grew worse after Beyonce’s breathtaking performance at Super Bowl 50’s halftime show, during which her backup dances dressed as members of militant defense group from the sixties, the Black Panthers.
