How a Lady saved a chronic drunk's life in Lagos (Photos)

Well...no matter how hard I tried to make him smile, he just couldn't!
One Olorunfunmi A recently shared a beautiful story and photos of how she helped change an alcoholic’s life on her Facebook page.

So on one of those days I hung my head and claimed life had ended for me, I walked past Gbolahan. He lives right across my house and was in class with one of my elder ones. I heard he was very brilliant but I’ve known him to be a chronic drunk for at least 15 years…His case was worse than a mad man. He’d drink ‘ogogoro’ all day, get beaten up and slapped by passersby, get hit by vehicles and then walk/shout all over the street all night. He barely slept and on the days he did, he would sleep in any ‘maruwa’ he finds parked behind my house. He practically had no life outside his bottle of gin.

God laid it on my heart to talk to him and I was surprised that he listened. I’ve paid a nearby ‘buka’ to have him fed twice a day, bought him a sponge, soap and toothbrush. Went to check on him every morning and evening, drove him to church in my car, gave him some place to sleep and found him something to do. I dont want him to be dependent on me so i handed him over to someone else to teach him personal hygiene and a bit of social skills.

To the glory of God, Gbolahan has been clean in the past three weeks. Now he converses coherently and does not stagger anymore, his eyeballs are clear…The whole of ire-akari road is amazed.
He still needs bedding, clothes, money for feeding etc.
I’m grateful to God for the privilege to serve humanity but I’LL BE NEEDING PROFESSIONAL REHABILITATION for my elder brother Gbolahan, I WOULD BE GLAD IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME OUT. That would be the best birthday gift ever.
Any recommendations please?
It’s my birthday and God is teaching me to love without expecting anything in return.

So heartwarming! Get in touch with her via her Facebook page if you will like to help.

Day two of talking with gbolahan. Notice his nose bridge?!!

Gbolahan in his 'house'...day 3

One week after....He has a smile on.

Hackers steal N8m from Osinbajo’s Bank account

Policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Ikeja are investigating an alleged theft of N8million from Vice Pres ident Yemi Osinbajo’s bank account.

It was gathered that two undergraduate students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka identi fied as Ebuka Orumba and Patrick Nwafor allegedly hacked into the account of Simmons Cooper Partner, a law firm said to belong to Vice President Osinbajo and allegedly stole eight million naira (N8miilion) from it.

According to investiga tion, the undergraduates Nwafor is a final year 500level student of Envi ronmental Science while Orumba is a final year Computer Engineering student.

It was gathered that the students used fraudulent means to hack into the email of the Account man ager of the VP’s law firm, one Mr. Tunde Irukera, and they allegedly sent a mail to UBA PLC branch to one Obuba Fidelia on July 2nd instructing the bank to transfer eight mil lion naira from Simmions Cooper Bank account to three different bank ac counts they opened for the fraud.

It was further gathered that the undergraduates allegedly connived with a tricycle rider one Artor Kalu to open a bank ac count with Zenith bank account number 2086943174 where three million naira (N3,000,000) was trans ferred to with the false name Engineer Asukwo Okoro.

The remaining amounts were said to have been transferred to two other unnamed bank accounts.
Luck however ran out on the undergraduates when their alleged gang member, Mr. Kalu went to the Zenith bank account at Mushin to withdraw the N3,000,000 but was nabbed by detectives from SARS following a tip off from the bank.

The police subsequent ly arrested Kalu and fol lowing his statement, the police arrested Orumba but Nwafor escaped.

Following the investiga tion, the police discovered that Kalu with the help of others got a fake Driver’s license which he used to open the Zenith Bank ac count.

Prophet dies from Thunderbolt (magun)

A white garment church prophet in a suburb of Lagos, ‘Woli Adesoji’, reportedly met his untimely death during sex with the wife of his close friend and an elder in the church.

It was gathered that the ‘Woli’, was actually expelled from another church where he was a prophet after he was caught with a member’s wife and he later opened his own church and seemed to continue in his indulgence.

Being the leader of the church, Adesoji had a free reign and slept with any woman he deemed fit, both married and single, especially those who sought for fruits of the womb or husbands.

According to a church member “It was a thing of shame when Prophet Adesoji, a married man with several children, died while making love to another man’s wife. And the woman is married to an elder in the church.

We all know Woli to be very randy and had been suspected by many but since he was the founder of the church, no one could confront him. It seemed the woman’s husband had planted ‘magun’ (a Yoruba voodoo meant to prevent a woman from committing adu!tery), on his wife and behold, it was Woli that was caught in the trap.

He died in a very shameful way in his private room in the church. The woman has since fled the area while church members have been trying to come to terms with the ugly incident.”

Open Heavens 24 October 2015: Saturday daily devotion by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Instruments of Deliverance

Memorise: But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. - Jeremiah 1:7

Read: Genesis 50:18-20 (KJV)

18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.

19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

Bible in One Year: Deuteronomy 1:1-2:25 And Galatians 5

MESSAGE:

Children are carriers of blessings wherever they go. When Isaac was born, God put paid to the sorrow in the heart of his parents (Genesis 21:6-7). When Samuel was born, the chief mocker of his mother had no choice than to swallow her words (1 Samuel 1:6-7 & 2:1-3). Similarly, when Samson was born, the children of Israel began to receive the deliverance that had eluded them for so long (Judges 13:2-5). This shows that God can send you a child just to deliver you, your family or even your nation from a particular captivity. It is my prayer that from now onwards, you will not just have children, but children who will be instrumental to delivering joy to you in full in Jesus' Name.

In addition, when God wants to preserve a people or a nation, He can send a child. That was the case with Joseph. God did not only use Joseph to preserve his own family, he was also used to preserve other families of the world. Dear parents, do you know that there could be another Joseph in your house? When young Joseph began to have those wonderful dreams, his brothers were angry and envious, but his father simply observed the scenes, analysed the dreams and realised he had a special child in his house - a child of destiny (Genesis 37:3-11). May God open your eyes to see the Joseph in your house!

Also, there may be another Samson in your house. Samson was still young when the Holy Spirit began to move him from time to time(Judges 13:24-25). If his parents were observant, they would have noticed. In one of our meetings, the presence of the Holy Spirit was so strong that the children were baptised with the Holy Ghost. The teachers could not believe what was happening, but when I came to listen to them myself, I knew God was the One at work. There may be a Samson in your house, which is why you need to take extra care in raising your children in the fear of God and obedience to His word. Proverbs 22:6says you should spend quality time in raising your children up in God's Way. Any child you fail to bring up properly will ultimately cause you sorrow. Are you leaving the training of your children to your house helps and nannies? Take responsibility for your children's upbringing today!

Key Point: If you are prayerful and sensitive enough, you will notice some early signs or traits in your children that can be a lead on what God would have them do on earth.

Movie Review: OMG 'Trapped' is the most beautiful movie i have seen this year

Movie Review: OMG 'Trapped' is the most beautiful movie i have seen this year

I was supposed to watch and review Nse Ikpe Etim's 'The Visit' but this week i was so occupied, couldn't visit the cinema, so i settled for Iroko TV and downloaded one of their latest 2015 movies (Trapped) and oh my, i am so glad!

Trapped is a  78 minutes movie with an enjoyable and amazing storyline. Everything, I mean everthing (from the cast, to the lightning, sound etc) was on point!!!

Storyline

Mayhem ensues in an office when a concientious employee is promoted to head of department over her more senior but less respected colleague, who is determined to win back what she considers to be her job.

Cast:

Bassey Ekpeyong, Moyo Lawal, Sydney Ekwulugo, Theresa Edem.

A particular Head of Department (H.O.D) was tansferred to head another branch and as expected the most senoir staff (Moyo Lawal) was supposed to be appointed as the next H.O.D but a junior staff (Theresa Edem) was chosen instead. And to think that Moyo was already celebrating her new position only to be given the bad news.

She took it bad and then accepted her fate, only to take her revenge months later, lol.

First of all, i am not a fan of Moyo Lawal but she completely won me over with her acting in TRAPPED! I loved the way she kinda imitated the 'Tosyn Bucknor' voice in the movie.

She fit into the role perfectly.

This movie was a breath of fresh air, not the same regular faces we see in the movies, and then the story line was classic,  simple, neat with lots of lesson to learn (e.g Never mess with your company's finances, people should stop being wicked to their fellow human beings and more importantly God is always there, he is a miracle working God).

The chemistry between Theresa Edem and her hubby in the movie was on point, Keppy Ekpeyong the boss was so good and  i just can't get over his VOICE!!!

It's so hard to pinpoint errors in this movie cos it's so damn good, from start to finish its a beautiful move. I did not want it to end. But i have to say to this, the major character carried just one hairstyle all through the movie, she could have used a wig or something at some other scenes.

Well done Mr. Odion Ohis Felix, for the production. We need more of such movies, that we can learn from .. movies that speak to us!

Theresa Edem and Moyo Lawal, you guys rock!

You can watch it now on IROKO TV.
