Governor Adam Oshiomhole's Mother Advised Him Not To Marry A Nigerian?

Governor Adams Oshiomhole's mother, Hajia Aishetu Oshiomhole was at her son's wedding to Iara Fortes and was glad he heeded her advise. She said she advised her son not to marry a Nigerian woman when she saw his interest in getting remarried. She said she gave him that advise in order to avoid crisis in his family.
"I supported him to marry a foreigner so that the relationship between my son and his children will remain cordial. Our Nigerian women will go and destroy the family just because they want property. That was the main reason I supported him to marry a foreigner when he told me about it. So I am happy about it. Besides, the new wife is a very good woman" she said. Continue
She behaves like Comrades late wife. Very accommodating, understanding and hard working. And you know my son travels a lot as a governor.
He needs a woman who understands his work and that is the kind of wife he married. She is just like Clara. Normally, people spend two years or less before they marry again but Comrade decided to wait for five years due to the love he had for his late wife. And Clara was a good person, very lovely and nice to all of us. So we supported Comrade for taking time to re-marry because we loved Clara.
Comrade and the former wife lived very happily, there was no quarrel, nothing at all and that was why he mourned for five years. I am happy that he brought a wife that will bring him and the children together".
Also speaking, the traditional ruler of Iyamho community, HRH Bashiru Itameso, who equally is a cousin to the Comrade Governor, said
"I was happy seeing him remarry. I am happy because I never wanted him to marry a Nigerian because our people are wicked. I prefer it that he married a foreigner. If he had married a Nigerian, in-laws will come and start troubling him.
They will start tearing themselves apart for materials things and that will create serious problem between Comrade and his children. We all supported him to marry a foreigner".

Mother Found Pushing Dead 3 Year Old Boy On Swing In Maryland Park

A Maryland mother was found early yesterday Friday May 22nd pushing her dead 3-year-old boy on a park swing, according to US police. Officers responded to a call around 7 a.m. to check on a woman who witnesses said had been pushing a child for hours on a swing at Wills Memorial Park in La Plata, Washington, D.C., said Charles County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Diane Richardson. One witness told deputies she found it strange that the woman had been pushing the child for an unusually long period of time, possibly since the day before, Richardson said.

When the officers arrived they found the 24-year-old woman still pushing the child in the swing, and they realized immediately that the boy was dead, Richardson said. The child had no signs of obvious trauma, she said, and had been dead for at least several hours. The office of the chief medical examiner in Baltimore will perform an autopsy on the boy. The mother, who was not identified, was transported to a nearby hospital for medical tests, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

Four Priests Beaten To Pulp As Enugu Govt Battles Anglican Church

Four Priests Beaten To Pulp As Enugu Govt Battles Anglican Church

No fewer than six persons, including four Anglican priests, were on Friday allegedly beaten to stupor by some members a task-force working with the Enugu State Housing Corporation. The victims were Reverends Collins Odoabuchi, Mbaka Peter, Eugene, and Maxwell Onyia. Others members of the church affected were Ekpecha Okechukwu and Naomi Ibekwe.

The development, which is building up tension in Enugu, the state capital is coming one week to the end of Governor Sullivan Chime's administration. Saturday Vanguard gathered that trouble started when members of the task force, accompanied by armed policemen, invaded a parcel of land belonging to the Christ Church, Uwani, Anglican Communion, sparking off anger from both clergymen and members of the church.

The Clerics were said to have tried to stop the Task force from carrying out the demolition exercise but were over powered by the government agents, who allegedly unleashed terror on the church leaders.

One of the victims, who gave her name as Naomi Ibekwe told journalists that she was hit with iron and hard objects, including stones, causing bruises and severe injuries on her.

But for the quick intervention of the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Abubakar Adamu, who came physically to the scene, there would have been more casualties as the members of the task force insisted on going ahead with the exercise as allegedly directed by the state government.

Reacting to the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Mohammed, told the angry church leaders and their faithful that they should allow peace to reign as negotiation had begun.
"We have discussed with the church. If anybody is injured, we will not take it lightly. We have already asked that a formal report be made and we will follow it up. We have agreed on a peace move and we are following it up", he stated.
Also speaking, the Priest in-charge of the Christ Church, Venerable N. Aghadi said,
"We have talked at length and discussed very progressively. The Commissioner of Police is pleading that we should go home and rest. He has promised that the matter is in good hands and that immediately the Archbishop returns, he will have meeting with him".
However, a source told Saturday Vanguard that the state government revoked the land with an intention to build an estate christened "Transparency Estate". While the clash lasted on Friday, five bulldozers were being used to demolish the structures at the disputed land inside the church premises.

Findings by Saturday Vanguard showed that the Church was dedicated by His Grace, the Most Reverend C . J. Patterson, the then ArchBishop of West Africa and Bishop of the Niger in 1965.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that the Managing Director of the Enugu State Housing Corporation, Emeka Vitalis Onah, who led his team to the place, escaped being lynched by church members who had planned a reprisal attack.

FG Raises Alarm Over Dwindling Electricity Supply, Power Plants Shutdown

The Federal Government on Friday in Abuja raised alarm over dwindling and epileptic electricity supply across the country. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Mr Godknows Igali, made this known after a meeting with Vice-President Namadi Sambo to State House correspondents in Abuja. Igali, and Prof. Chinedu Nebo, Minister of Power, had briefed Sambo on the state of power generation, transmission and distribution in the country.

He said the ongoing strike by Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas had further worsened the power supply situation. The workers were protesting the transfer of the operatorship of the Oil Mining Lease (OML) 42 to two indigenous companies, claiming the move would affect the fortunes of NPDC and its staff.

"With the strike which has gone on for one or two days there is dramatic turn as of this afternoon we have gone down for the all time low to 1,327 megawatts. "So, if you look at it from 4,800 there is dramatic turn, the loss is terrible,'' Igali said.

He said as at 12 noon May 22, 2015, Utorogu, CHEVRON ORE DO, OB EN gas plants were all shutdown while UGHELI and CNL ESCRAVOS were already isolated. He said, "on the eastern axis Shell Gas, ALAKIRI has also been shutdown. This has led to the several power plants being stranded and shutdown.

"This includes EGBIN, OLORUNSHOGO I & 11, OMOTOSHO 1& 11, GEREGU I & 11, IHONVOR and SAPELE (NIPP) on the western axis and ALAOJI on the eastern end.''

According to him, besides, pipeline vandalism which has continued to have very negative impact on the power supply situation in the country, the ongoing strike by the labour unions in the oil and gas sector has added additional toll.

"The overall effect is that power supply which had started picking up steadily since the beginning of the week following repairs of various vandalised portions of the ELP Line and the Trans-Forcados Gas Pipelines, has fallen to all-time-unprecedented low of 1,327m was at 1.00 p.m. May22, 2015.

He, therefore, warned that "situation could get worse if the strike continues''. Igali expressed the hope that the ongoing discussion between the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and, the labour unions, would end amicably.

"Indeed, it is hoped the labour unions will help restore supply of gas to the power plants even while negotiation are ongoing.''(NAN)
